1) Is the list of dragons final, or is it open to suggestion? While I understand different types of dragons are more rare than others, I think the different types should be more balanced in power. For example, just cause water dragon encounters are extremely rare because we vikings don't live underwater, doesn't mean they all have to be either super humongous sea serpents or little boiling water spitters! Sure, there should be some super humongous sea serpents and shrimpy dragons, but the odds are if there are some of them, there are also some that are in between (Just an example. This goes for all the other categories too)! Also, why is Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus listed as an aqua dragon? If a dragon evolves underwater, what the hell good would fire do? Fire wouldn't help at all in that environment. And sky dragons don't seem to have much direction. My suggestion is, since sky dragons probably roost extremely high (ice capped peaks), why not give them ice powers? Of course, then Doomfang would have to be tweeked a little (Please give him Thunder Powers!!) As for individual dragon ideas, I'm bursting with them and if you want I'll type em up. I understand we shouldn't have too many types of dragons or it'll get too complicated, but I think the list should be maybe doubled and made with a little more structure. 2) Regarding the sexual orientation category: If you want to keep that category, you should be clear in the rules whether or not you want explicit content in the writing. Having that as an outstanding category instead of something people optionally include in their personality or history may attract people looking for a more sexual roleplay experience or turn away people who want a purely innocent experience. 3) You should probably define the level of technology before people start discovering gun powder and making steel swords. 4) For the unique smileys: Although they are awesome, you should make them have their own unique smiley code so they don't replace other smileys. For example, looks nothing like :-/ . 5) Be careful on how fast you're giving out night fury's. They're supposed to be the rarest and as of now they are half of the Player Character tamed Dragons. You're letting too many overpowered player characters in general. 6) Did I just come off as a total jerk-off? When I get excited over things I tend to use phrases like "you should" and just sound overly forcefully and pushy in general. I don't mean to belittle or anything, I just get enthusiastic when I get ideas. 7) Need help? I can come on every day to help with basic modding although I wouldn't be a very good GM because as you can see, my writing is pretty lackluster. 8) Are you as stoked as I am!! This is one of the coolest movies to come around for a while! Anyways, PM me, I'm really hoping this RP gets off the ground.

Lol, valid points. If I have a chance I'll look into the smilies, the rest is up to the admin though and I don't think you sounded to much like a jerk, more an excited member looking to make the site better, Cheers, Artemis

Sorry for not responding sooner. Busybusybusy. 1) It is open to suggestion. As far as the dragon in question goes (too lazy to type out the name at school) I placed it because of the SEAdragonus in its name. You can also suggest custom types of dragons if you want to post them in a thread. I can approve or deny them as seen fit. Also, animals that live underwater have traits that would be seen in land animals. For instance, a mudskipper has tiny "claws" on its fins that it uses to pull itself along beaches. Just because something is classified as one type of animal doesnt mean it cant do well in more than one environment 2) If its not in the rules, theres no borders, but I would hope to god people would have enough sense to warn others away in the title of their thread. Also, I read threads, so if something gets a bit...fishy, I'd say something to the RPers as far as the title goes. 3) Its based off the movie...people shouldnt go running around with guns because they didnt do that in the movie. 4) I like the smileys...especially the little soldier one xD 5) I wanted the first few members to have free range of whatever dragon they want. Theres only going to be one more that I know of, but I picked a number of members when I started the site that I was going to be lax with, after that the standards to obtain are stepping up. I'm not a completely tough grader. If I critiqued every single line of someones application, nobody would get a character until they had 20 or so responses at least in their application thread. 6) To be brutally honest (normally Im not, just that Ive endured a school day) you kind of did. Okay...not kind of, really did. You came off like you were telling me how to do my job...and do it the way you would do it. =/ I mean...I use my creative lisence to its full extent and after sitting in a classroom all day Im a bit edgy. Im much more cheerful on weekends, I promise. XD. 7) Once we get a few more members Ill be holding staff trials. Stay tuned! 8)If I wasnt stoked, I can promise you I wouldnt have made the site. XD

I had some answers to those statements but I think I'll shut up lol. I'm probably viewed as enough of a douche-bag already. Do you just not like suggestions (which is fine with me)? Or do you just not like how I worded them?

Your suggestions I indeed liked. Feel free to post as many types of dragons as you have ideas for. For instance, a mercury dragon: silver, toxic flesh that doesnt breathe fire or anything, but will cause frostbite in something it bites, and lives in cold climates.
something as simple as that can get accepted no problem. lol.
As far as the douchebag thing goes, I prefer to not think of people as such a degrading term, especially since I know the verb form of the word "douche". I prefer to resort to the classic "jerk" if necessary.
I must admit that I did think "...jerk" when I was reading your questions/statements/suggestions, because you completely came off as you were telling me how to do my job. My automatic response would be: Its my job, so I will do it the way I see fit. (no gutterbrain comment, please, I already thought of that x_xD) And when somebody tells me how to do my job, I instantly flare up to defend myself, its just in my nature.
However, you can write any responses...I just advise you to think before you do, because if you ask a question, know that theres a possibility of a stinging retort even if its not intended.
Other than that heres to suggestion *raises glass of oh epic sparkling grape juice*.

1) Good point.
2) Okay, looks like you got that taken care of.
3) I know people won't go making guns and such since those are no brainers. I'm talking about things that aren't as obvious like being able to forge steel and whether crossbows have been invented.
4) I never said take the smileys away! Just give them their own code so they don't use up smiley codes that look nothing like them.
5) I can get giving the first members whatever dragon they want but not giving them god characters. I guess I'm just not used to your style of RPing. All the other forums I've been in have guidelines that must be followed for profiles and if the members don't feel like putting the work into meeting those guidelines then they aren't accepted. I can see where your method is better but I'm also already seeing where being "lax" has given some one a character that is pretty much impossible to RP without godmoding. I would be able to understand if it was an NPC but otherwise I don't see where anyone would find appeal in RPing with overpowered characters. But as you said, it's your forum and if I don't want to RP with an overpowered character I don't have to lol.
6) You know the slang term douche-bag has almost nothing to do with the verb douche?
Edit: Almost nothing lol. Anyways, my point is, Douche-bags aren't really bad things. It's good to play it safe!!
7) Awesome!
8) Probably should've thought of that.

3) Im an admin of a site. I should do that...lol. I was once on a more child-friendly (like PG) forum and was reading threads when I stumbled across some rather explicit guy-on-guy action that didnt have a warning in the title. I had to point it out to the admin and they about flipped when they saw it. lol 3) Good point. Well, I'd assume so considering the thing that Hiccup couldnt even throw appeared to be forged from metal. 4) XD. I must have read it wrong 5) To me, the real test to see if they read the rules right is in RP when their character is tested. If they godmod then, if not smartening up since they wrote the app, they suffer punishment. I can give warnings in applications if its just too out-there, but then when actual RP ensues, I tell them then and request they re-read rules. 6)Yes, I do. But regardless its a rather derogatory term 7 & 8)

3) I didn't say forged from METAL. I asked whether forging STEEL is possible. Most likely in HTTYD they are either in the iron or bronze age. I doubt very much that they can forge steel.
5) Okay, that's fair.
6) I'll stop using it then.

Actually..the Vikings swords were made of many layers of high and low carbon steel with very decorative hilts with silver inlays and accents. They were a status symbol and treasured weapon.
I'm new >.< trying to figure out my character and noticed that Steel wasn't listed in the materials vikings used for weapons and then while reading all the threads found this. lol
So in the interest of historical accuracy would it be fine for my character to wield a steel sword? Or would I need to adhere to previously settled rules? I hope that it's fine to ask this here.

Ah, I looked that up myself when I was making Ayamayr's biography. I believe I read somewhere that steel was in fact available. However, it was very rare and expensive and mainly used for dipping iron or alike materials in as to strengthen them.
As for your question... Hmm... Maybe such a weapon could be around IF your character was wealthy. I am actually not sure of that though, as I minutely recall that steel was a different material and therefore harder or equally "special" to work with. But I will certainly look more into it when I can. But that is what I can recall.

Ah well I've studied up on the Norse, I'm generally more into the mythological part and yes steel wasn't common but it was what they used to make swords. Many Norse Viking Age swords have been found that were made of steel but from the information we have on them now they were a status symbol as well as a strong weapon. So one of high status or wealth would wield or otherwise if they inherited it from someone of such standings. That was about where I wanted to take it from.
I could find some references if that would help any?

Somewhat actually lol so then something like this would be fine; (quoted from the second link) Viking swords were made of iron with steel edges. The sword was double-edged and relatively lightweight and measured about 90cm in length. The sword handles were often decorated with silver and gold. The Vikings gave names to their swords such as Head-Biter or Hole-Maker.
