DATE & TIME : 12/7 Early morning, but time will pass with the thread WEATHER CONDITIONS : Slightly hazy in the flight, but when she arrives the sun starts peeking through the clouds. CHARACTERS INVOLVED : Summer and Fireworm and whoever wants to join PREVIOUS THREADS ? None Summer left her house early in the morning. Early enough that she didn’t think anyone else was awake. She had on a jacket and some pants along with her boots and gloves. The morning air was still chilly and it was still super dark out. ”Fireworm? Where are you girl?” She called out into the morning air. She saw a spark of fire and then Fireworm’s fir lit body came into view. Summer put her hand on her dragons snout and smiled. It was the only place that didn’t have the fire coat. She waited until the dragon turned off the coat before running her hand along the side so that she knew where she was going. She flung the saddle she had carried outside onto Fireworm’s back and listened as her dragon settled the leather onto her back. When she was sure she was done, she attached the strap and climbed on up. Without another words, Summer nudged her dragon into the air.
Summer pulled her jacket closed as the wind nipped at her. She tied her hair back and leaned close to her dragons body. Luckily it was still radiating heat from the liquid coat. ”To Dragon Island girl.” She felt Fireworm duck her left wing as she turned and started flying in the right direction. Summer leaned over her dragons sides and tied her legs to the saddle just in case she fell asleep she would not fall. As Fireworm got into a slow and easy pace to make up for the length of the flight, Summer could feel her head lulling and she put it down against her dragon and nodded off into a light sleep.
She didn’t know how much time had passed but when Fireworm grumbled to her she woke up. The island was just a few miles away and the sun was starting to peak up over the clouds. Summer stretched and yawned and patted Fireworm on the back. ”It’s been awhile since we’ve been here eh girl?” The last time she had been here was a year ago. In fact she visited this place every year around the same time. Most of the time it was to just get away from Berk for awhile. Today she needed the peace and solitude to think and clear her mind. Hardly anyone would fly out here, and for what purpose. There was nothing here. She looked at the island and could see the bones of the long dead dragon and readied herself for Fireworm to land near the shore. hey humans and dragons, we're Summer and Fireworm. This is 483 words long and anyone can be in it. hahahaha of caution made it, so don't steal.

Grima yawned and stretched as he woke up. He’d spent the morning sleeping as usual and had been lying on his dragon with Flint curled up around him, which was also usual. He slipped her off him and got up. The two were both still exerted from travelling all the distance. They were land dragons, they weren’t meant to fly that kind of distance on a regular basis.
He left the small cave they’d been sleeping in and looked out at the island he was on. It was bleak and slightly foreboding, which was to be expected from the slight fog and general abandonedess of the place. He saw the occational form of life, but they were so rare and obviously reclusive that he knew he’d be lucky to have an interesting meeting.
He felt his stomach rumble and he then remembered he hadn’t eaten yet. He had no food with him because the Zippleback had had enough trouble with him and her own weight to worry about; she didn’t need a day or two’s worth of food. Grima deeply doubted that there would be any none flight animals on this island, seeing that they would have been made extinct centuries ago. That left fish...which he had never tryed to catch before.
He saw a terrible terror run out of a small hole and run about for a bit. Would he have to kill a dragon just so he could get food? He didn’t like that idea, though probably not as much as most people from berk would have. As he weighted the pros and cons, he saw a flock of sea birds fly in and land on the ground. Food! He knelt down and quietly pulled out his bow and an arrow. He slowly pulled back the string and aimed at one of the birds. He knew he only had one shot.
He fired the shot and it hit true. The bird fell backwards and all the other birds fell back. It’d have to do for now, but he could catch more later. He walked over to it, knowing he should probably get working on it now, so he should skin the bird and get a fire going.

As Fireworm landed on the sand, Summer slid off her dragons back. She felt Fireworm sort of collapse into the sand below and scratched her dragons back, directly in front of where Summer had been riding. Fireworm rolled over onto her side and gave a sigh as the dragon felt the water start to hit her tail. She pulled herself up and walked to the base of the huge mountain and laid down. This was she was out of the water and could watch Summer with one eye open to make sure nothing would harm her human.
As Summer turned to survey the island, she couldn’t help but notice that it looked as if someone was here already. She furrowed her brows and started walking around the base of the mountain. Her eyes scanning the side and the beach to see if she could see anything. It was then that she came across a set of footprints. They looked human enough, but she didn’t see any boats so it had to be someone who had a dragon. The prints looked new too, so the tide could’ve already carried the other prints away.
She walked a little further and then was when she came across the person. She couldn’t see his dragon in view so she wasn’t sure what he had. It looked like he had just used an arrow to get a bird to eat. Her stomach growled in protest but she didn’t care. She had packed a small bag with a few things for her and Fireworm to snack on. Of course that was back on the saddle but her dragon wasn’t far away. In fact, as she turned around to check, she could just see her red log of a dragon in the close distance.
Summer couldn’t remember ever seeing this kid, but if he was from Berk then maybe she passed him by without realizing it. It was then that she noticed she hadn’t said a word. She cleared her throat unsure of if he hadn’t noticed her before walking a couple steps closer. ”Hey. You from Berk? What’s your name kid?”
He looked younger than her which was where the kid remark came from, but as she looked at him, she couldn’t help but think about what his dragon was.[/blockquote][/blockquote] Tagged ?! Grima looked up as he heard someone walking to him. There was a woman. She was really attractive, though to him most post-pubescent women were. He looked away and looked around trying to find something to make a fire out of. He didn’t want to talk to her. He’d probably make a fool of himself.
She had other ideas though. He turned to her, “Ye-yeah. I’m Grima, Grima Blatand,” she looked familiar, “You?” He finally saw a few pieces of wood he’d be able to use. He moved over to it and put them into a pile. He then placed the bird on a rock and fumbled for his flint. He found it and tried to light the wood. For once he had difficulty. He had a feeling it was because he was being watched.
He finally swallowed his pride and asked, “Could you give me a hand?” he asked, hating having to ask and the impression of being weak that must have sent to this woman. Once the fire was lit he started defeathering and skinning the animal quickly so he could cook it. “What are you doing here then?” he asked, trying to sound calm and cool, though he knew he wasn’t. Who was it this girl was reminding him of?

Summer turned around eyeing Fireworm one last time before giving her full attention to the boy. He looked a bit younger than her, and the nervous air he seemed to throw around made her smile. He was a cute little kid, though of course she wouldn’t tell him that since it could either a) go to his head or b) make him mad since a lot of guys didn’t like being called cute for being nervous. To Summer though, it made him act like he actually had feelings, or well some feelings. She nodded when he said his name and said hers in return. ”My names Summer Frost.”
She watched as he gathered firewood, unsure if she should help him or not. But when he started to make a fire she just stood back and watched. It looked like he was having some difficulty and she was about to ask if he wanted some help when he actually called out and asked for it. ”Sure I can try.” She said with a small smile as she took the flint. She squinted at it when it wasn’t working, and could feel her cheeks rise to a faint blush. She stood up finally ticked at not being able to do it and gave a shrill whistle.
Fireworm was there after a minute. She looked from Summer to where the wood pile was and couldn’t help but give a small laugh. Humans and how they couldn’t start fires. She stood back a ways and walked in the direction of the fire in which it wouldn’t hit anyone and blew a small stream onto the wood. When she stopped she nodded her head happy with her work. ”Humans should really leave the fire to us.” She said unknowing the Grima knew Dragonese. She turned around and went and laid down a few feet away giving Summer and Grima more room to maneuver around.
Summer looked at her Nightmare and smiled, glad that she was always around when the time was needed. ”Thanks girl.” She turned back to Grima and smiled. ”Dragons are handy in time of need.” She said bluntly stating the obvious. She paused when he asked his question after he was done preparing his meal. ”Just for the peace and quiet. It’s a great place to get away. What about you?” She asked sitting on a small rock that was a couple steps away. She paused a moment before asking another question. ”By the way, where is your dragon?” Since she hadn’t seen a boat this question had been bugging her. She didn’t see one dragon which was odd since most dragons stayed close to their humans.

He nodded at the name, realising why he’d recognised, “You’re Mitch’s sister, aren’t you.” There was enough resemblance that he could tell the relation, though not enough to creep him out for finding her attractive.
He passed her the flint and watched her fail as badly as he had. He silently ogled her as she tried before picking up his bird and started work on it. He looked at the Nightmare as it lumbered up to the humans. It seemed so smug with itself that we needed it for such an easy thing, which really annoyed Grima. She quickly lit the fire and commented about human’s uselessness before lumbering back, “Yeah, ‘cause everyone loves to be patronised, lizard!” he muttered.
He was slightly annoyed with Summer for thanking the dragon, she obviously didn’t know dragonese. He let out a slight laugh, “Yeah, if they feel like helping you at the time.” He set things up so he could actually cook it and placed the bird so it was safely over the fire (not going to go into what I need for it. Let’s just say he has the stuff needed and leave it at that).
“I just came here with my dragon to test out how far we could get. She’s currently sleeping off the flight in the cave over there,” I pointed over where Stahl and Flint were. As the bird cooked, he sat there silently, not sure what to say so leaving the starting of conversations to Summer. He liked being with her but he did feel very uncomfortable being there.

Summer couldn’t help but nod at smile at being recognized as Mitch’s sister. He obviously knew him from the ViTs. She heard him say something under his breath and she tilted her head slightly to the side when she spoke. ”What did you say before that. I don’t know, she seems pretty happy to help me most of the time. Sure comes in handy when I can’t do something.” She paused turning to smile over her shoulder at her dragon before turning back to Grima. She nodded in response to where his dragon was. It must’ve been a dragon with small wings, or one with not very good stamina to be that wiped out after a flight.
When Fireworm heard his comment back to her she couldn’t help but give a toothy grin. This kid obviously had some spunk. But she hadn’t meant to come off as rude as as she situated her body to keep watching the two, least the kid tried to do some kind of harm to Summer, she spoke back. ”So you can understand me. Interesting. She has been trying that for years now. I wasn’t patronizing you by the way. It’s just a simple task for us. Humans seem to struggle quite a bit.” She stopped watching as he cooked the bird. ”You guys can use your hands to do things. We can’t use our claws in the ways you guys can.” She stopped talking and settled her head on the ground slowly blinking her eyes and then closing them. Though it was very slight, they were open just a slit.
Summer crossed her legs and arms but gave a small stretch. The ride over had been comfortable but after being in the same position for as long as she was her body did ache a little. ”So, how long will your dragon need to rest?” She said wondering what kind of dragon she was.

Both dragon and owner started talking to Grima at once so he had to listen intently to both Summer quizzical at his comment and the Nightmare defending herself. “There’s a reason why we don’t rub that fact in your faces.” He didn’t really care if she didn’t think that she’d been patronising them, once he’d got an opinion of someone it would be quite hard to get rid of it.
He was glad Summer couldn’t understand them, Grima really didn’t want to make too bad an impression on her. “Sorry, I just mistook a comment your dragon said.” which, while was true, in his mind what he’d just said was a lie. He kept an eye on the dragon in his peripheral vision as he made sure the bird was getting cooked well. “What’s your dragon’s name out of curiosity,” he asked.
He thought about her question for a second before responding, “she’s a nocturnal dragon so she’ll probably sleep through the day and bother to get up when it...when the sun gets lower. It’s summer so she’s not going to wait until it gets to night time but she’ll wait until it gets to as close to night as she can afford.” He looked up at the sky, “To be honest I should probably be sleeping in there with her but I was hungry so I came out.”

Fireworm huffed once in response and would’ve rolled her eyes if the tiny slit hadn’t closed all the way, sealing her in the darkness as she tried to take a little nap.
Summer nodded wishing once again and not for the last time that she understood Dragonese. She had been trying ever since she first found her dragon but with no luck. ”Fireworm. Since she can light her body on fire. What is your dragons name?” She said as she watched him cook the bird. She had never really tried seagull, and she didn’t want to start. She was raised on the food that came from the forest and fish. But seagull...just thinking about it made her sick.
When he explained about how his dragon was nocturnal. Huh, she had never heard of a nocturnal dragon before. Fireworm was awake whenever she was needed. Otherwise she would be off hunting or sleeping. She smiled when he said that his hunger was the only reason he was awake right now. ”Yes, hunger tends to wake people up or keep them up. Speaking of which.” She stopped talking as her stomach growled a little bit. She reached inside her bag and pulled out some fruit that she had brought. Munching on one of the items, her stomach stopped growling as it became sated.
((What kinds of fruit do you think are on Berk? Or is there like everything?))

“Stahl and Flint, she’s a Zippleback. The name was cause…well, don’t need to explain that really.” He yawned he loved his dragon, but since the beast refused to reacclimatise to normal time like most Zipples did, it meant he had had to move his body clock forwards some hours and he couldn’t do early mornings well. The conversation stopped when the woman pulled out some food from her bad and started eating. While she did he could see his food would be ready soon. He pulled out his knife and cut through the bird and saw it was done (please don’t comment on the total inaccuracies of this meal being cooked, being the perfectionist I am I’m finding it very hard to but we can’t really have him going through the hours or work he should be doing). He started to eat the bird with her. As they eat (and while they talk if you decide they do) Grima looked around and started remembering the last time he came here. It had been three-ish years ago. Ulrika and he had been so eager for dragons, Ulrika had thought of the idea of going off to this island to find a dragon. They’d nicked a boat and a map and came here. They didn’t have any luck getting anything out of it. Even so, the two had had some fun exploring the place. He smiled slightly at the memory, it was one of the last times that Ulrika really needed him, since then she’d gotten good enough that she would fend for herself. It had been that that had broken the friendship between them and eventually Grima tuned into what he was not to her. He sat up when he heard movement, he looked around and knew it wasn’t either of their dragons. Someone was there…or something. (OOC: No clue what he’s hearing, I’ll leave that to you )

Summer nodded at the name. it really didn’t need an explanation especially when she found out it was a Zipple. As she ate she noticed that he was finally starting up on his bird. She grimaced again and turned away for a moment looking out into the water. The last time she had been here, her brother had actually flown out with her. He hadn’t wanted to come this time and instead wanted to hang out on the island. She smiled knowing that he would be shocked to see her leave so early in the morning, but knowing him, he was still sleeping right now.
She turned back to look at Grima and could see a smile on his face. ”What’s got you so happy?” But her question would go unanswered because at that moment she heard a little noise, like something moving. Seeing that her dragon was still lying down and his was nowhere in sight, she dropped the food she was eating and stood up. In one fluid motion she grabbed her bow and nocked an arrow pointing it in the direction of the sound. Her body tensed as her eyes squinted trying to locate what made the sound.
It was then that she saw the little body of a Terrible Terror dodging the rocks and heading towards Fireworm. She relaxed her body letting the string go slack as she took off the arrow. She gave a small laugh from being so nervous of a sound and sat back down as the Terror walked up to them. It first walked up to the fruit she had and when it tried a piece it sort of revolted against itself. She smiled at it and watched as it turned its eyes onto the bird Grima was eating.
((Hope that's fine xD and don't worry I wouldn't want to describe it all either lol))

Grima was just about to say ‘just remembering the last time I was here’ when the noise happened. He grabbed his knife as she grabbed her bow; if anything big did turn up he’d switch to bow himself. But he wanted to keep on eating as long as he could, knowing he could lose the rest at any moment.
Then a Terrible Terror came into view and darted towards the Nightmare. He was shocked at Summer as she relaxed at the sight of the little dragon. He didn’t let his speed slow on eating his food though. On the contrary he sped up a little more; this was the dragon he was most likely going to lose his food because of. It was the type of dragon he had lost the most food to over the years.
Summer sat down as the dragon got to them and didn’t mind as it sniffed her food. Grima groaned as the dragon turned to him. “Great, here goes my food.” He pointed his knife at the Terrible Terror and growled, “No!” The dragon growled back then skittered back. “Well, best get eating this before the rest of them come here, I’ve had too much nicked by those reptiles.” He muttered throwing another piece in his mouth. Fortunately he only had about seven cuts left.

Summer couldn't help but laugh at Grima as the Terrible Terror growled back at him. "Come on, they are just harmless little dragons. Nothing bad ever happens." The Terror was hanging out near Fireworm, so Summer dug in her bag to see if she had anything that they would like. So far there was nothing. When everything was out she frowned, nothing that the little dragon would like. "Sorry little guy. I don't have anything." She put everything back and watched as it scurried away.
Sitting back on the rock, she dropped the bow by her side and turned back to Grima. He only had a couple more cuts left of the bird. Her gaze wondered back out to the ocean and then over to the giant skeleton of the dragon that Toothless and Hiccup had defeated. It made her nervous to think that there was once a dragon that huge. How did they not know if there was still one that big. It was only a matter of time before something like that did happen again and then what? Would everything change. She looked over to where Fireworm was napping and frowned.
"Do you think there is another dragon that big out there somewhere?" She said turning to face the boy three years younger than her, wondering what he thought about the huge dragon skeleton laying not far from where they sat. A noise interrupted her thought and another Terror along with the previous one came out of the shadows. She perked an eyebrow wondering what they wanted now.

I sighed as she apologized to the little monster for not having anything the guy would like. As it scuttled off, Grima wondered how long it would be before the rest of them would be back. He chewed what he already had in his mouth a bit more and then swallowed. He still had four pieces left and watched out for when the pack came along.
He saw as his companion looked over at the skeleton of the massive monster of a dragon. It was just as foreboding as it the first time he’d seen it. It really was the only proof the legends were true, or at least the basis of it. There were only a few dragons said to be that size and all were legendary monsters.
“Well, dragons don’t grow that big on their own, it’s a type of dragon so there had to at least have been other dragons.” They then heard the noise of dragons coming back. There were only two Terrors. But it there were noises that hadn’t come from those two. He smiled slightly and looked down. Three pieces. He put the last one that would be his and then looked back at the dragons, who were staring straight at him.
“You want this?” he asked, wobbling the two pieces in sight, “Why don’t you share them with your friends?” he them threw them off away from the coast. The two dragons flew after the pieces, as did the nine other Terrors that had up to this point not been visible to the two humans. Grima smiled and whispered, “There’s never just one.”

Summer nodded, understanding what he had meant. It was scary to think there could be more out there of that thing. If there were more, where were they hiding? It's not like they could stay hidden forever. Her mind raced what if they had become friendlier? What if they had become like most dragons and had actually learned that Vikings wouldn't harm them, if they didn't bug us?
These thoughts escaped her though when the Terrible Terrors appeared. She had just been watching them when she heard Grima start to speak. It sounded like Dragonese and for a moment she was jealous of the younger boy. She had heard him talk about Fireworm talking back earlier, but she had thought she misheard him. But when he spoke the Terrors she couldn't help but narrow her eyes for the slightest of moments.
Her eyes showed a hint of a smile as her face showed one more clearly when he threw some of the meat off to the side. Just then, another group of Terrible Terrors that she hadn't seen of heard went zooming towards the scraps. She laughed as they started to fight with each other over the food. it was a funny sight.
She turned back to Grima when she heard him speak again, but this time in human. She had hardly heard him, but she had to talk back anyways. She nodded. "That's right. But now they aren't going to leave you alone." She said as some of the Terrors that hadn't gotten any food came back and were scuffling around Grima trying to find some dropped food.
She heard a stirring behind her and turned to see Fireworm glaring at the Terrors. The little dragons had always annoyed the bigger dragon. ”Do you want me to scare them off?” Summer heard her rumble but turned to Grima, she had a feeling it was something about the Terrible Terrors and them being annoying but she wasn’t sure.
