When the cold of winter comes starless night will cover day In the veiling of the sun we will walk in bitter rain
Art of Sylvus (c) Me | [cs=2] [style=text-align: center;font-family: century gothic; font-size: 16px; border-bottom: solid 2px #222222; margin-bottom: 4px; text-transform: center;]ORIGINS
Within the depths of a labyrinth-like cave laid an egg. A charcoal colored egg that nearly blended in among the dark stones and scorched wood in which it sat. White-yellow flames licked at the green and light gray streaked surface of the dark egg, ensuring that it would be warm while the parents of the egg were away.
It was not long before they returned, however. A female and male Kopie dragon slid down into the egg chamber, and the female quickly moved over to the egg, jaws parting to breathe a stream of white fire onto the rocks and wood in which her treasure was nestled. She bent her heat down and nuzzled the egg for a moment, her ears perking at a scratching sound from within. There had been increasing activity from inside the egg over the past week. It could be a matter of days or even hours before the hatchling inside finally emerged and met its parents for the first time.
The female turned her head up slightly as her mate padded up beside her and licked behind her ears in a reassuring way. There were no words to describe the warmth that filled their hearts as they waited for their offspring to emerge.
It was the middle of the night when the first crack was heard, ringing out in the silence of the dark cave. The male was the first to hear it, and he opened one eye to look down at the egg, illuminated by the dying fire around it, to see a piece of the egg jut out and then return to normal. The male nudged his mate into wakefulness just as the egg shifted in the nest of rock and wood and the same piece of egg jutted out again. This time a tiny muzzle could be seen with a horn-like egg tooth protruding off the top of it. The piece of egg dropped to the ground, and there was a scrabbling inside the egg before the hole grew larger.
The hatchling clearly wanted to get out.
After a long pause, the hole grew large enough for a paw to poke out as well…Then another. The muzzle shifted up, using the egg tooth to chip away at the shell above it and then the head slid out a bit more. The hatchling squeaked as the egg rolled over onto its side before it lashed out with its feet, breaking another hole in the egg. Now the shell was brittle enough, and the hatchling broke apart the entire side of the egg before rolling over and crawling out of the egg.
The hatchling was no larger than a five week old puppy. It was covered in sticky egg white, and the little creature squealed as its mother pulled it close and licked the stuff off of it while also coating it in a fireproof oil, an oil that the hatchling would very soon produce itself. The hatchling placed its newly cleaned front paws on its mother’s nose as its belly was licked, making little grunting noises that expressed pure annoyance with the situation.
After the tiny dragon was completely clean, its parents were able to discern the gender by scent. It was a female. The mother watched as the hatchling stood and took an experimental step forward before its legs collapsed under it. It’s little down covered wings flailed helplessly for a moment before the hatchling squealed, wanting help. However, when her parents did not come to her rescue she snorted and got to her feet herself and took a few steps. After it had figured out how to use its tail for balance, the hatchling was off, prancing about and (unsuccessfully)hunting insects on the cave floor.
It didn’t take the hatchling very long to tire; however, and it soon returned to its mother’s side, snuggling into her soft, silky fur and falling into a heavy sleep almost immediately.
A few months later, the baby Kopie was finally big enough to leave the cave for the first time. She was about the size of a large house cat now, perhaps a bit larger, and her wings had shed their down in exchange for more substantial feathers, a predecessor to what would be her fully fledged wings. She was growing quickly, and was most certainly no longer the timid little thing that had emerged from that egg not long ago.
The hatchling held tight to one of her father’s tail feathers as he lead her through the labyrinth of passages and rooms that made up their home. She felt safe here. It was easy to get lost if you didn’t know your way, and it was dark, but if someone were to attack them, they’d be able to hide. It wasn’t every day you found a cave system like this, and her parents were sure to keep it a secret, hiding it to the best of their ability.
The little female let out a small squeak as they emerged into the light outside the cave. She blinked her eyes a few times before letting go of her father’s tail and looking up at the sky, discovering the clouds and the sun for the first time. Her mouth was open in awe, but she snapped it shut and turned her attention back to her father as he grunted. “Come along, little one.” He said in his deep, rough voice. The hatchling snorted in reply, smoke curling up from her nostrils before she trotted after him.
Originally, the two dragons had emerged to a rather flat place with a thin surrounding of trees around them, as well as rocks and boulders scattered about. Now they started in an uphill climb. The male took an easy path so the little female behind him wouldn’t have difficulty climbing their mountain home. After a bit though, the slope became too steep, and the hatchling squealed as she slid down the hill, digging her claws in to stop herself.
The older male sighed before turning and sliding down beside her. He then picked the hatchling up in his mouth before turning and padding farther up the mountain. He stopped when he reached a ledge and put the little dragon in his mouth down on the flat surface. He sat down and curled his tail around her before looking out over the territory. They lived on an island near Dragon Island. Their home was a good size, and it was rich with prey. The mountains they lived on were smaller, but took up at least half of the island. The other half was covered with trees and there was a small fresh water lake in the middle of this forest.
All of this the two dragons could see from the ledge. “This is our home, but when you come of age, you will be able to leave and find your own territory and your own mate.” The older male said. “For now, I promise that your mother and I will protect you and our territory so that we can live in peace. You will be safe, Sylvus.” He told the little female, leaning down and nuzzling her. The hatchling, Sylvus, purred, putting a paw on his nose before licking his muzzle. She knew he’d keep this promise…He was big and strong, so was her mother. There was no way she’d be in harm’s way.
The years went by and the hatchling grew in size. She lived with her parents for fifty years before she was big enough and strong enough to leave them.
The day came, and Sylvus flew away from the isle that she had known for so long, off to find her own territory and a mate.
The first thing the female found was territory. It was small, only part of a forest and a mountain, but it would do. She settled in and familiarized herself with the place, marking its boundaries with her scent.
A curious male was the first to venture into the territory. He was a Kopie as well, older than Sylvus, which meant he was stronger than her. The female tried to purge him from her home, and she thought she had succeeded once, but he only returned. The dragon didn’t seem hostile though, in fact, he never hurt Sylvus but rather courted her. For a few years the process repeated. Sylvus would drive him away, only to see his return and his courting change a little bit.
The Kopie soon accepted the male’s courting, and her growls and nips were no longer to drive him away, but to draw her in. She played hard to get with him, wanting to see if he was really worth her time. The male persisted, and Sylvus warmed up to him and fell in love with him. They became mates, and Sylvus’s territory grew due to the male driving out other dragons nearby.
One day a dark shadow was cast over the territory as a mature adult male Kopie decided to settle in. Sylvus and her mate went to confront him, and her mate was badly wounded. The adult male courted Sylvus after that, but she refused him to care for her mate.
After a month of hanging on to life, Sylvus’s mate drew his last breath and died. Sylvus buried him and then fled the territory, going as far as possible from that island.
This is how Sylvus discovered Berk. She wasn’t picky, and ended up taking a small piece of territory in the mountains there, near the water so she’d have fish, and including part of the forest so she could hunt.

TRAITS [/style] | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207]
POSITIVE TRAITS: ▪ Sylvus is tough, rough and tumble. It's to be expected, having lived in the mountains for so long. ▪ If she warms up to you, Sylvus is kind, gentle, and caring, almost motherly. ▪ Sylvus is very protective and capable of defending herself and her loved ones. ▪ If you were to earn her trust, Sylvus would be fiercely loyal to you. | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207]
NEGATIVE TRAITS: ▪ It is very hard to earn Sylvus's trust, and while she may feign cooperation, that does not mean she is truly loyal to you. ▪ Sylvus can be vicious. Do not try to approach this dragon with weapons or anything sharp on your person or she will strike without hesitation...Then again, even without weapons she might still lash out, depending on her mood. ▪ She generally acts grumpy and huffy and does not cooperate very easily. ▪ Sylvus is naturally hot-tempered and often attacks without thinking. She is very territorial, and if she sees an intruder, she will attack before sizing up her opponent and coming up with a plan. | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207]
LIKES: ▪ Flying, especially doing acrobatic maneauvers. ▪ Preening. This is important, as it spreads the fireproof oils she secretes over her entire body...Not to mention it keeps her fur looking silky and clean. ▪ Hunting, especially catching fish or chasing deer. ▪ Learning. Sylvus loves to find out as much as she can about everything. | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207]
DISLIKES: ▪ Getting wet. ▪ Rain storms. ▪ Threats of losing territory to other dragons. ▪ Males in general, human or dragon. | [cs=2] |
▪ Sylvus fears water...Specifically the oceans that surround Berk. She can't swim at all, ▪ Sylvus fears trusting people because she doesn't know if they'll betray her or not, which is why it's so hard to earn trust from her. ▪ Sylvus fears losing those she loves. After losing her mate, she has refrained from making such ties because she does not want to feel that pain again. ▪ Sylvus is afraid of stronger dragons, although she tries not to show it. Sylvus generally stays true to the status quo of the Kopie personality traits. She is extremely territorial, driving away anything she sees as a threat to her or as a potential territory thief. Despite her initially hot-headed and aggressive disposition, she is actually very kind and thoughtful. If she trusts you and actually likes you too, she’ll probably act in a motherly way. Sylvus is a sly, clever dragon. She is intelligent, and sometimes this goes to her head, giving her the desire to do things her way because that is the right way. She, like all dragons in the Stoker class, prefers to have her way and to have her space when she needs it. To gain her trust, you must give her respect, let her do things her own way…And appease her with offerings of meat. Like all Kopies, Sylvus as a wide spectrum of emotions, and she will almost always know what you’re feeling; or, at least, how to deal with you. You will often know how Sylvus feels via her body language and attitude. She is a generally respectable dragon, although her short temper could rear its ugly head with the right triggers(such as an intruder on her territory or a smaller, irritating dragon.). Sylvus has watched the humans on Berk before, but has never approached them or even gotten exceptionally close. They are alien to her, and while she is curious about them, she doesn’t have any desire to interact with them for the time being.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
- scale/fur/feather color; Sylvus has short, silky gray fur covering most of her body. She also has a brown mane that runs from behind her head and over her neck, then to her underbelly. She has a pair of green feathered wings, spanning twenty-five feet from tip to tip, and a fringe of green feathers running along her spine. Like all Kopie, Sylvus also has a feather rudder at the end of her tail to help her steer while flying. She has a layer of smooth, dark gray scales underneath her fur as well.
- size/other measurments; Sylvus is 20 hands high at the top of her shoulder, which is about 6 and a half feet tall.(Reference picture for height...This horse is 21 and 1/2 hands high, so she's a bit shorter at the shoulder) Her neck and head add an extra three feet. Sylvus is about 20 feet long from nose to tail tip, and she has a wingspan of 25 feet. As for weight, Sylvus is rather light, weighing in at about
- other; Firstly, Sylvus has long, black claws on her front paws. These are unretractable. To keep them sharp, Sylvus sharpens them on rocks and trees, much like you would sharpen a sword.
Second, both sets of paws on this dragon are wide set, a bit like a polar bear’s, to make for better grip when climbing, and are padded too, allowing her to walk almost silently, even over a stretch of ground covered in dead leaves. Sylvus’s face is very expressive and can display a wide range of emotions, often disapproval or anger. She has bright, icy blue eyes with darker blue streaks in them. They say the eyes can be a window to the soul, and in Sylvus’s case, this is very true.
[/td][/tr] [tr][td][cs=2] FIGHT TO THE DEATH [tr][atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207] [/center] ▪ fire&stuff; Every Kopie breathes a light yellow(sometimes white) flame, although if they manage to set themselves, this fire will die down to a normal color and will eventually extinguish. They do have a limited number of shots. Being in the stoker class, they must have the ability to have fire-proofing, and so they secrete a fire-proof oil from their scales. They must constantly preen to keep these oils evenly spread over their fur, so don’t be surprised if you find one when it is preening. A Kopie will not and cannot breathe fire when wet(damp-drenched though, not just spattered with water or something). One flaw they have is that if they get wet, all of the fire-proofing oils on their fur and feathers is washed off and they must wait at least an hour after they dry before they can preen to spread those oils again. ▪ flight&wings; To see a Kopie in flight is as breathtaking as it is dangerous. It’s not that they’re self-conscious about being watched, but that half the time they aren’t only putting on an air show, but also hunting. Kopies are elegant acrobats in the sky and love to do tricks for their own enjoyment. Their tail rudder allows for precision flight and daring dives. A Kopie’s wings have a few extra joints in them so they will fold as close as possible to the body, allowing the dragon to slip through tight spaces. Kopies are generally strong fliers, with well-muscled wings that they can use like a trumpeter swan’s to deal (occasionally fatal) blows to an enemy’s head, knocking them unconscious or at least making them dizzy. It is very hard for a Kopie to fly when wet(drenched, sometimes when damp), and they generally refrain from getting too wet, since flight is an important trait. It's a really great app, but I'm not too keen on the 'unlimited fire' - it wasn't mentioned in your dragon app, but honestly, according to Gobber, all dragons have a shot limit of some kind - they might have a lot of fire but it won't last forever, y'know?
Also just gonna remind you before it's too late - I'm thinking when it covers itself on fire, since there's nothing to keep it fuelled, the fire will die down in colour to normal coloured fire, otherwise that'd be a little bit unreal... and overpowered

Alright, edited. I've changed it to say that she does have a limited number of shots, but I'm not entirely sure what that number should be...

As long as it's not infinite fires, that's fine ^_^ Besides since fire recharges after a while, even if they havent used all their fire up in one go, they should have a steady stream anyway. Approved, you may now RP Don't forget to add yourself to the Who's Who and Population!
