The dragon whined at his failure, but his negative vibe soon went when Noah stroked over his head.
He didn't seem to laugh at his failure, so he was glad. Nuzzling a bit pushy into his chest, the dragon purred.
In the past he saw dragons fly, he saw them spew fire, he saw them spinning sideways gracefully in the air...
Compared to them, Nightrode looked like a bad mixture between a fish, snake and reptile. Barely mighty.
But the human caressing his head didn't seem to care.
As he continued to playfully nudge his partner, a loud lupine howl suddenly filled the air.
... It seemed as if a group of hunters didn't feel like waiting for dawn...
An entire group of wolves, atleast 10 of them sneaked out of the grass, growling at the two.
Without warning, a few suddenly barged at Nightrode, knocking him down.
The lavender beast leaped forward, taking the attack of another wolf which almost leaped at Noah.
"Get... away... from me!!!" the beast roared, sending a few surrounding wolves home. His roar is something you don't mess with.
Shaking the wolves away that had previously been bitting into his skin, Nightrode reared up, looking serious at Noah.
His eyes were clear. Without violence... they'd both be dead.
Nightrode flails for his life, managing to get one wolf down, but the weight of the wolves grows bigger then his own...

Nightrode ignored the viking adult as he did not understand his words. Opening his large wings, Nightrode clawed himself into the ground, whilst starting to flap with his wings with tremendous strength.
The newly picked up wind sent all the wolves that were infront flying into the distance!... or up in a tree. Same difference.
The remaining alive and unharmed wolves backed off. Not like they could have expected that the viking actually KNOWS how to handle a sword.
A final roar that almost shock the earth sealed the deal. The hunters ran for their dear life.
Satisfied of this, Nightrode went towards Noah again. He seemed different... his arm was bleeding?
Nightrode let out a few whimpers, gently licking over the bite.
"Be okay... be okay..." The dragon murmured, looking at the boy...

"He seems to be fine... I'm glad." Nightrode thought, purring lightly.
Whilst the boys arm was wrapped around his neck, the dragon moved slowly forward, in a pace that hopefully didn't hurt his arm too much.
"He defends me... I defend him... Quite some teamwork we have."
As they came to a sunny clearing, the area suddenly lit up - the sunlight shone brightly down upon the many butterflies, flowers and birds that inhabited this place.
No wonders the deers wanted to go here.
Having found a tiny paradise, his eyes sparkled from joy.
He squeaked in an utmost weird-yet-happy-sounding manner, leaping off into the paradise!
A strong breeze came up as he ran, which gave him his instinct to open his wings!
... Bad idea.
Due to his light weight, he got carried along with his snout straight up, and him falling with his bum first into the flower patches.
He stood strictly up. It'll be all perfect once he knew how to fly.
A friend. A paradise...
Now just flight.
He wanted to see the world from above... he wanted to feel like a dragon!
...And not like a snake.
Nightrode continuously ran and tried to take off, leaving Noah to watch him from a distance.
Determination burnt in the eyes of the dragon...

Flopping with his head down on the ground, Nightrode bickered with himself loudly. As if to punish himself for his own failure, he slapped his side with his tail - which caused a loud yelp to come thanks to the still crooked area of his tail.
Groaning, he watched the sky. It was somewhat cloudy, yet the sun seemed to be spared. The warm sunrays warmed his body up - awesome. Maybe a bit activeness will get him going. He is cold-blooded, afterall.
He doesn't understand though - He watched birds take off WHILST STANDING. It should be dratted easy doing it when he has already gained speed by running!...
...Right?
Nightrode stood up again, shaking his head. No master fell from the skies. Noah surely trained hard to be able to handle cold steel that well.
So he had to train just as hard to manage with something that his parents should have taught him.
Opening his wings once again, the dragon ran, holding his wings wide open. He felt a strong breeze, jumped, flapped...!
...Blam! He tilted his wings too much forwards, banging with his head first into the roots of a lonely tree.
He groaned. Well, failures happen, nothing bad...
As he tried to move away, he seemed to be stuck.
...But how?
The horns on his head seemed to have suddenly grown a strange liking to the underground roots of the tree...
Not agreeing to the marriage, Nightrode pounced with his lower body about.
In VAAAAAIIINN.
He yelped. "AAARRGGHH! Help me, please, viking!"
Forgetting the language barrier, Nightrode called out for his companion.
...Having no thumbs sucks sometimes.

When finally freed, Nightrode snorted somewhat at his... YET AGAIN FAILURE.
Watching Noah climb up, he grew for a moment confused, but the reassuring pat gave him the signal to take wing. Opening his large wings once again, Nightrode aimed at the huge clearing that they're in... and he took distance from the acursed tree!!
He ran, giving Noah quite the ride of his life. He was afraid that the next stumble will harm him...
But it's not like he can converse with him in on an intellectual level.
As another strong breeze gave him the perfect tailwind, Nightrode jumped, and aiming his wings favorable to the winds direction.
Due to the strong grip of Noah, the wings couldn't be overturned anymore... which resulted into both of them gliding smoothly over the ground.
It was maybe a 1 - 2 feet height difference between him and the ground, but it was enough to make Nightrode squeak for joy.
Positioning his feet and legs close to his body, he carefully started to beat his large wings, gaining height.
He was clearly clumsy in this, and overhasty...
But...
One fact stood tall compared to that.
He was flying.

Carefully gaining height, the world seemed to become smaller and smaller, beat by beat.
Nightrode was somewhat scared of this new sensation, but the fear quickly faded.
The view become downright beautiful as a forest passed by beneath them, the sunset shining before them.
Once they reached quite a height, Nightrode looked down. He saw everything passing by. Everything seemed so small and insignificant.
All that was important right now was to savour this moment.
Tucking his wings slightly at his body, both of them started dropping, gaining tremendous speed.
The winds rushed so fast, all you could hear was "WHOOSH!"
No communication possible.
Not like it mattered.
Nightrode opened his wings again, them both having reached by now the sea which offered many warm currents to glide over.
Relaxing his flight more, Nightrode turned his head upwards, roaring in victory.
They were both... free.

As they continued going further into the sea, Nightrode turned in a long arc around.
The winds had suddenly gotten strong, and this was just his FIRST flight.
Not need to take risks.
As the fishes below seemed to play tag, the dragon instinctively took a quick snap with his long neck underwater, catching one of them.
He looked with big deluded eyes at Noah, the fish still jumping in his mouth.
Due to his quick distraction, they came face to face to a row of outsticking sharp rocks.
As Nightrode face forward again, he shrieked in agony.
He just started to fly... how can he dodge THAT?!

Scared out of his mind, Nightrode plummet sideways away from on of the rocks, as Noah tucked his large wing in.
Gaining control again, the dragon started to dodge the rocks by changing between flying left and right, which proved to be effective.
All seemed to go right for the two, and a feeling of relief was already spreading in the beast, until they came face to face to the islands cliff.
Something like THAT can't be dodged.
Suddenly flapping his wings frantically, Nightrode flew straight up, along the rocky cliffside.
Both of them gained height fast, which came to a price.
Drained from the first flight session, he stopped to flap, falling down towards the grassy field that they were in before...

Having landed horribly and tumbling over the ground, the beast rested, seeing only stars. His body ached, and felt raw, due to the strong friction that occurred when he skidded over the ground.
Groaning, he lifted his head, blinking around. He was where he had been before. The flowery and greenery field full of life.
Suddenly the viking boy clumsily embraced his neck, making the dragon stumble somewhat.
Nightrode hurred somewhat drunk at the human, having his eye lids partially closed.
"We're... alive... and we flew! Wooohooo!"
Making a victorious roar, green mist emitted from his large gaping mouth - away from Noah of course.
After closing his mouth again, he glomped his partner down, licking him cheerily all over his face with his split tongue.
"We should do this again sometime! Hahahaha!"
He laughed at Noah with his deep growling voice.

Back down the mountain. Ryan had been told by his parents that the walk up was always longer than the walk down. It felt that way, anyway. The wind was fighting you and up was generally harder than down, just like climbing trees. Ryan and his Basic Brown continued the trek down the mountain. Dusty trotted along, Ryan's sack tied loosely around his neck and laying on his back. They had been taking turns carrying it and it was rather light. it didn't bother the dragon at all. Ryan was walking beside him, staff in hand.
As they walked, Ryan thought. All in all, he wasn't quite sure why they had gone up in the first place. Both he and Dusty had wanted a scene change and Ryan had finally realized that he had to get out of his comfort zone of the forest. The time up there had been rather interesting though. He had met back up with the two Night Furies and had seen a really old dragon. As they were almost to flat ground, Dusty's eyes started flicking. Ryan stopped. "What's wrong, boy?" he asked, patting the brown's scaly head. The dragon nudged the boy's hand and gave him a slight push with his head, his body shivering with excitement. Another dragon and human! His only hope was that they weren't a threat...
The boy and dragon reached the bottom, coming to a nice, flowering field. Ryan froze in horror and Dusty merely sat, tilting his head in interest. The boy took a half a step back, half shaking his head. Dusty, already used to this, grabbed onto his human's sleeve, trying to make him stay. "Calm down, you don't even know them yet," he hurred, forgetting that Ryan had no idea what he was saying. In his opinion, his human was too scared of his own kind. Ryan was better around dragons than humans for goodness sakes!OOC: Hope this is okay! Knowing that Noah was a viking, and thus more fragile then him, he removed his body from him, toying around. He continued to look with deluded eyes at him, and playfully giving him a few licks, until Noah's glare shifted.
Turning his head around, he noticed the other boy with frankly weak knees are they were shivering... and a small brown dragon that accompanied him.
Feeling threatened, he carefully walked towards the two, growling and showing his fangs. He had lowered his head, and opened his wings to signalize that they were not welcome.
"Explain yourselves! What are you doing here!? Nightrode roared straight at them, scoffing loudly. His eyes had returned to be slitted and aggressive.
"If you're planning to play any trick, then you're going to pay the prize, little brown." At this point, he opened his mouth wide, roaring at him more quietly, to give him a chance to talk.
He would not let himself be assaulted by anybody. And especially, he won't let his friend be assaulted by anybody.

Ryan could immediately tell that this wasn't the best situation to come into. "D-d-dusty... l-l-let's g-g-go!" Ryan whispered in a stutter, seeing the human and dragon turn towards them. His eyes darted from one to the other, starting to tug his arm away from Dusty's grip. Unfortunately, even with all of his tree climbing arm strength, Dusty's jaws were stronger. Why did he have to go out of his comfort zone?! "H-h-hello..." Ryan whispered quietly, slightly jumping at the sound of being addressed.
Both Ryan and Dusty took a step back as the dragon approached them, an unfriendly growl in its throat and a display of carnivorous teeth. Dusty let go of Ryan's sleeve and took a slight step forward so he was infront of Ryan. The boy did what he had did with Dusty, he kept his eyes down; only predators stared, he tried to keep himself from visibly shaking, but it wasn't that successful. Dusty's ears laid back slightly in defense for Ryan, but he didn't think he could do much if it came to a fight. He wasn't the fighting type. Dusty could go on the defense, but that was pretty much it. That went for Ryan as well.
"A few days ago we went on a hike up the mountain," Dusty explained, trying to keep his voice calm and nodding up the steep cliff. "We decided to come back down and came across you two by chance," he hurred, shrugging slightly and blinking at the dragon opposite himself. "I'm not here to play a trick on anybody, and I can speak the same for my human," the Brown said sincerely, with only a slight edge of protectiveness. "We were only looking for company... or that's what I was looking for, anyway. My human isn't really used to encounters," Dusty said, smiling.Character Name: Ryan Simons//Dusty Mood: Terrified//Defensive, Trying to Stay Calm To: Noah the Viking Nightrode the Wild Dragon IC Word Count: 325

Nightrode carefully listened to what the brown had to say. He clearly showed himself submissive, so he took a step back closing his gaping jaw.
"Better stay that way. Or else you'll both be reduced to dinner." he growled, giving the basic brown a death glare.
Afterwards the beast moved away, minding his own business... like chasing his own tail!
He caused light earthquakes whilst doing so, and made him look extremely bi-polar, but it didn't matter to him.
Feeling stupid for his outrage against the dragon and the boy, Nightrode picked up the fish he had caught at the "friendly fly trip". He threw it towards the tiny dragon, hurring somewhat.
"...Sorry. I'm not good around crowds."
Turning around again, he clumsily took up into the air, flying in circles around the 3.

Ryan became interested in a point on the ground. He didn't dare turn his gaze back up incase the strange dragon turn hostile again. The boy felt someone looking at him. It turned out to be the other boy, since his voice broke into Ryan's head, introducing himself. "H-h-hi N-No-Noah..." Ryan stammered quietly. "M-m-my n-na-name i-i-is R-Ry-Ryan..." he said, keeping his head down.
He tried desperately to stop shaking but he couldn't for some reason. Another human and a very hostile and protective dragon did not settle well with his stomach. Not that Ryan was antisocial or hated other humans, he just wasn't sure how to act around them. He had never really had any good contact with other humans except his parents.
Dusty nodded his head. "I understand," he said, trying to keep his voice even and balanced. He wanted to sound sort of submissive, but defensive and confident as well. Not that easy when you had a human to protect that was fragile and he, as a dragon couldn't really be of help in the scary, defensive department. Dusty, like Ryan, wasn't that much of a fighter. He had the basic teeth and claws and could run, but that didn't help much.
The other dragon began to fly and then threw a fish at Dusty. "No, thank you," he hurred courteously. "I'm more for the plants." Ryan heard the fish hit the ground and chanced a glance up, he saw the new dragon flying around in circles. "It's fine," The brown hurred up to the lavender dragon. "Neither is my human."Character Name: Ryan Simons//Dusty Mood: Terrified//Slightly Protective, Happy To: Noah the Viking Nightrode the Wild Dragon IC Word Count: 284

Beating his wings, Nightrode observed the area from a different perspective then usual. Everything seemed so small and puny again. Although he did keep a good look towards the three down - He was going to protect Noah.
Hurring in happiness, he aimed towards the mountains somewhat. He could fly back easily.
It seemed as though the trip wasn't going to end pretty.
"Whao... see that dragon there? His scales would be perfect for the blackmarket..." A mysterious male voice emitted from a cavern near the mountains, away from Noah's, Ryan's and Dusty's sight.
"And those fangs!... A dagger made from that would be the sharpest around!" Another voice answered, female.
Minding his own business, he didn't notice the two strangers...
...untill it was too late.
A sudden rope with metal balls attached to it suddenly coiled itself around him and his wings, causing him to plummet down - shrieking for help.
He landed in the field, stuck in the ropes, fighting to get rid of them.
Meanwhile the two people emerged from the cave and climbed down, rough looking and...
...Hysterians.
