DATE & TIME: May 29th, Dusk CHARACTERS INVOLVED: Everyone PREVIOUS THREADS? First sign of Trouble, Oiling the Cogs Ari sighed slightly as he and his wife left the house. They’d been sent a message for a grand meeting of everyone, so they made they were on their way to this…whatever it may be. Ari knew it wasn’t good, grand meeting rarely were. Good news usually was just passed around, bad news would be given in one big go. They reached the meeting point just before sunset, which was the time point they’d been given. There were about a dozen villages already there, most weren’t very important people, and the only two notable people there were already there were Luna, Chad and his Niece, Kenna. But it wasn’t until more appeared, everyone was soon there. The final people to appear were their chief and an outsider, Sven. Kenna had mentioned him once or twice, and he’d been staying in Luna’s house over the past week while his dragon was ill. “He must be the reason everyone is here,” Ari muttered to his wife, “I wonder what he knows? What’s caused all this to happen?”And then they started to explain it all, at first he disbelieved what was said, it was said by a foreigner after all. But he had a feeling that he believed it quicker that some, while he like the average farmer doesn’t trust outsider’s information, he also has enough history to know that this happens. It’s been decades since the last time, he’s one of those old enough to remember the last time. This is the kind of warning that shouldn’t be ignored. Next thought that came to her was the more damaging thoughts; this is going to kill people. He was just glad that he could stay in the back lines, he wouldn’t be able to fight, wouldn’t be able to help in the fight. He could only heal people after the fight, only save those after the war was won…or lost. He was too old now to do that, but he had a feeling Luna might be idiotic enough to pull off something like that. He smiled slightly…she might end up a casualty.

Post by Chad & Nappy & Dagger on Dec 24, 2011 18:38:47 GMT -5
Chad had found out about the meeting going on tonight from his parents. Of course they couldn't go since they had the 6 year old daughter to worry about, so Chad said he would fill them in on the day's events later on that day. As he walked to the meeting, Dagger came running out of his house. "Dagger. Stay. Go back okay. I don't want you hissing at people or throwing little fire balls at them if they get o near." Understanding what Chad meant by this, the little Terrible Terror looked at him then nodded its head really fast and ran back inside his house. Chad smiled at the dragon before turning back and starting to walk to the meeting. When he was almost there, Nappy came flying out of the sky.
When he landed, Chad nodded to him as if saying it was fine. The big dragon followed him on foot, but when they got to the meeting, he flew over a ways so that there was more room for the villagers. From afar the BoneKnapper could hear just fine and was able to keep an eye on Chad and the others around him. As more people came, seeing as Chad was one of the more earlier people to arrive, Chad started looking around wondering when Asther and the outsider were going to come. Supposedly there was going to be a war and that's what this meeting was about. No matter what the case though, Chad, Nappy, and Dagger would be fighting in it to protect their village. When the last couple people arrived, everyone it seemed started to grow restless. Until finally, Asther and the other person showed up.
As they started talking, Chad listened in carefully. At first he didn't believe the person, who later found out was named Sven, he looked over to Nappy. But, Nappy seemed to have a face that believed the conversation the humans were having. Curious, Chad waited until Nappy looked at Chad and nodded as if saying it was true. Only then, did Chad really start believing Sven. Of course he would believe Asther right away, but an outsider not so much. He looked around and could see doubt on some people's faces while other he could tell fully believed the story.

Sven fumbled a little as the villagers trickled around them. It had been so, so long since Sven had spoken to a large crowd. And to make matters worse - Hermes was not present. If the dragon was here, he would have probably had a little confidence boost. But no - Hermes was still reveling in her regain of flight.
As the number of people expanded, he saw Kenna in the crowd. He cursed himself internally - he was supposed to have seen her when Hermes had gotten better. As soon as Luna had said she was ready to go, Hermes had sprung out the house as if she had been wired on high voltage and strong caffeine at the same time. Sven had to track her down to make sure she hadn't gone and hurt herself, still being fragile and all that. After that, things went a little pear-shaped and the visit to Kenna couldn't be made. After Sven's return, he had spent up until now informing Asther of the incident and talking about cargo.
Looking over this crowd, doubts were slowly creeping in him - he already had some problems convincing Asther. Nearly everyone was beefy with muscles here, and Sven found it hard to believe they would think this scrawny lad would be telling the truth. He hoped dearly that they would believe him, only because Asther was behind him.
When the majority of folk were there, and a small signal from Asther to start, he advanced a bit, looking over the crowd. He gulped nervously, trying to think how Hermes would act like in this situation.
"Erm... Hello everyone. I guess the reason why you're all here today is because I have some troubling news for you all." He swept his gaze across the crowds, and frowned. It saddened him to bring such news to such peaceful people. If only Sven knew that most Vikings actually craved war, mainly for Valhalla but for other reasons.
"Hysterians are going to land on these shores in more or less 6 days. We don't know why they're coming, but from what me and my dragon saw, they were not loaded for friendlies. War is coming, so we are going to prepare for them."
Sven frowned a little. He said what he had needed to say, and glanced at Asther, wondering if she should be taking the role of leader and give some dramatic pre-war speech too boost morale and rally troops or something. Sweeping over the crowds, there was a mixed reception. Some were eager for battle, some confused, some stubborn to believe in what he was saying.

Arnorda skidded around a corner, Darkness tailing her not that far behind. Were going to be late, no! I dont want to make a huge entrance again! She thought, her breathing heavy as she ran. Darkness hissed in a low voice. "Were almost there, dont fret. It.... cant be as bad as last time." He told her, trailing behind like a huge black shadow.
As she skidded around the last corner, She weaved between some other vikings, hearing their cusses at her. Darkness also followed her, not being as polite as her and just barging through. When they finally got there, she slid to a hault, her breathing so loud most turned to look at her. Feeling her face turn red, she shyly smiled back, waving her hand in a little motion.
As she listened to the rest of Sven's speech, her red face turned dark and sullen. She believed him, every word of this speech was correct. She looked over to Darkness, who's large yellow eyes also gave away that this was true. She drew closer to Darkness, feeling his large body close to her made her less grim. Arnorda and Darkness were really close, their bonding super strong.
------
Darkness felt warm hands touch his scales, looking down to see Arnorda leaning against him for comfort. His tail coiled around both of them as he listened to this outsider speak about the fast approaching war, which he had a feeling about. He hadn't talked to any of his friends across the sea, and when he went over there he was chased away from the shores before he even landed.

As Sven looked over the slowly multiplying crowds, the expressions soon shifted from doubt to belief, and once more into varying emotions. Some were worried or scared, but others also appeared elated, battle-hunger and most of all eager. The Dragonologist noted the many different types of dragons perched on rooftops or mixing in with the crowds. There were some that he had never seen before, and wished he could be scribbling details and pictures of them. Feeling distracted, Sven quickly glanced at his list of things needed to be mentioned on a scrap of vellum, he cleared his throat and gazed once more at the crowd.
"So, erm. All those able to fight should start making the necessary preparations in the coming days. We don't have long." With a nod, Sven left the makeshift stage.
Sven cursed himself. He felt he as come off as not a confident being, especially compared to some of the vikings in the crowds. He left discreetly, not wanting to be further part of this horrible situation. Sven was for the most part pacifist, and declaring war was most definitely out of his comfort zone.
Hoping not to be followed, he slipped through the huge doors and out into the open. Hermes was waiting for him. Sven scowled. "You could've been there for me. It wasn't exactly a walk in the park." With a nasty glare at the dragon, he walked right past her. Hermes cocked her head. She hadn't seen Sven this troubled since... well, since never.
