PB: Holland Roden
NAME: Arya the Swiftfooted
ALIAS: Arya
AGE: 25
GENDER: Female
STANDING: Viking
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Straight
LIKES:
Every since Arya was a child, she has had a passion for sword fighting. She doesn’t know what it is about it that she loves so much though. She loves feeling as if the sword or dagger is an extension of her arm. When she thinks this, her fighting becomes even better. Of course being born in a village where you create a special bond with your dragon will do that to you. When she runs she feels as if nothing can hold her back from her destination. When she swims, she remembers the past, remembers when her father and mother taught her how to swim and those are great memories. Of course Arya loves to talk to people. But people that speak clear words that she can understand she loves to talk to a lot more.
DISLIKES:
Arya has a strong dislike for guys who think they are all that. Any guy who thinks he is superior to a girl and that a girl should always be inside the house working is like vile to her. She can’t stand those men. She also doesn’t like huge waves. Not tsunamis (though those too), but like waves that are higher than surfing waves. There is something about them that she doesn’t trust. She doesn’t like when others try to put someone younger down. She had that happen to her many of times in her own village. She does not like drinking at all since some of her family members had died from too much drinking.
STRENGTHS:
As said in Arya’s likes, she likes running, swimming, and sword fighting. All of these, she is very skilled in. Her agility helps her very well when running as same with swimming and sword fighting. With this known, it is known that she is agile. She is strong for a woman since she had to fight her father many of times in sword fighting (all for the fun of it). She is also very skilled in Dragonese which helped her gain respect when she first got to Berk. She was able to gain the dragon’s trust and then the peoples. She is very open-minded but also a very good leader.
WEAKNESSES:
While Arya is strong and good with weapons, she is not good with weapons like an axe or heavier equipment. She is only good with lighter equipment. If some people don’t get her ideas right away she can become slightly impatient with them or herself, if not finishing a task fast enough. She will go to any limit to protect Saphira, which can be bad in many ways, especially if she can be in mortal danger. She can sometimes be a bit of a perfectionist, which can lead people around her to dislike her and makes her depressed because she feeds off their emotions.
FEARS:
Arya, like anyone fears death. She fears it both for her and Saphira. She fears that one day, Berk will remember that she was once an outsider and they will kick her out. Even though she loves swimming, drowning because of a rogue wave is in her mind when waves start getting tougher. Although, this has never happened to her before she fears getting lost in the forest. Of course with a dragon by your side it would be easy. But being completely alone in the forest does frighten her at night.
AMBITIONS:
Arya hopes to one day gain respect from all. She doesn’t have to be over them all the way, but she wants them to respect her and recognize her for being human. She would also like to teach the villagers how to speak Dragonese, since she finds it very helpful in everyday life. She would want both her and Saphira to find a permanent man in their lives that love them for who they are. One last thing that she would like is to keep this village safe and secure from those who wish to destroy it.
SECRETS:
Arya feels that her past and what happened at her old home is a huge secret. The only person she confides in when she needs it is Saphira and that’s how it will be for awhile. She also has one last egg from her village that she was able to rescue. She thinks the baby is a boy and is just waiting for the right person who she believes will be able to take care of it.
PERSONALITY:
Arya is a very mature young lady. This was expected out of her since she was very little. With her father the leader of their village and she being his only kin, it was expected that she be the next leader. And leader she was raised. When walking through her house or Berk, she will find herself holding her head up straighter. This isn’t like a Viking at all, but her mom taught her etiquette. Of course she gets glances that can say they are calling her a ‘freak’ but she doesn’t mind. She knows she is as different to them as they are to her. She can be very funny at times especially when you take the time to actually talk and listen to her or become friends. Her nature of being raised to be a leader has taught her patience and kindness, to all things no matter how they treat her.
With that being said you would think that there wasn’t a mean bone in her body. But you would be wrong. When the call for fighting arises, you can find her at the front leading all to battle. This is where all her charming demeanor is erased. Here she let’s herself free. Not caring who see what or hears what. She can be almost as vicious as her dragon on the battlefield. She loves to fight, even if it’s not for death or blood. Just training fighting she can laugh and be carefree about. Just make sure to steer clear of her if someone has said or has put harm to any of her friends or Saphira. She would make sure that you knew never to do that again.
OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Arya has almond shaped blue eyes, and blonde hair that gets darker as the seasons get colder. She has a slight tan form spending so much time outside. She is as tall as most of the men around village. Instead of being the usual; Viking bulk, she is slender with slight muscle definition in her arms, back, and abdomen. Although the two latter are hardly ever seen. When it is hotter weather she uses a leather strap to hold up her long hair. If it is cold, her hair is down and the leather strap is on her right arm in case she needs it later. Along with her slender body shape, she has small hands and feet.
Arya wears two different types of clothing. One for battle, and one not for battle. Both of which were brought from her old town. The outfit that is not for battle includes soft boots that go up to her knee. The shirt is sleeveless and strapless and stops right under her clavicle. The bottom is a skirt that goes down to a little below her knee. The skirt is held up by a leather belt. Both fabrics are really soft and are of a brown to tan color. Her battle wear is slightly different. The major difference is the color, which is black not brown. The skirt is the same length and held up by a belt. The shoes are the same too. The shirt is now up to her neck with a slight collar on the top. There is also another super thin layer of wool that has been dyed black since some battles go into night. If she is going to need to use a bow, her arm has a leather bracer that doesn’t scar her arms from the string. When Arya is not battling, she can be seen carrying her dagger and shorter sword that doesn’t have a sapphire. When she is battling, you can see her with her bow and arrows across her back, the dagger on her hip, and a longer sword in her hands.
HISTORY:
Arya was born into a wonderful first time family. The only thing wrong with the picture for a few minutes was her gender. Her dad had desperately been wanting a boy since he was leader of Forsaken (her old village), but her mom talked him into raising her to be the village leader since there had never been a girl leader. With that in mind, her father wasted no time in taking her everywhere with him. He wanted her to be the best girl leader that Forsaken would ever see. When she wasn’t with her mom, her mom’s gold Longwing, her dad’s Longwing, she could be found in her father’s arms. When she turned three she started talking. Her mom and dad then would bring her to each dragon egg after it was born in hopes of her making an early bond to a dragon. Nothing happened for years though. Every time Arya saw an egg, she would become disinterested in it.
Her parents never gave up on her though for they believed that one day that would happen. But, when she had turned 5 and saw that all her friends were carrying eggs or little Longwings were following them around, she grew sad. Her family decided that the best way to take her mind off of it was to start teaching her Dragonese. Everyone in their village knew how to speak it, apart from the children who had not graduated training yet. This was also the time they started to let her pick up wooden weapons that wouldn’t hurt anyone. They had found that of all the weapons, she liked swords, daggers, and bows and arrows the most. With that knowledge they knew exactly what classes to place her in when she became of age.
When she turned 10 she started the Viking program in her city. Her parents automatically signed her up for the weapon classes that she wanted and the Dragonese class to better her speaking, although she was already speaking that better than most in her village. The villagers were surprised by how long she could hold up a full conversation with a dragon already for her age, especially when she didn’t have a dragon herself. Arya had a blast in those classes, the only thing that was bad to her was that she was the only one without a dragon. She would get teased by those who were older for that too, and would end up running home and crying on her parents shoulders. They would always comfort her by saying that she would find a dragon sooner or later.
When she turned 16 her parents gave her, her very own weapons. Of course, she couldn’t get a long sword yet since those required a dragon, because expertise was noted when a dragon was by the side of its partner. But she was excited to get a dagger, short sword, and bow and arrows. She would practice every day with those and could never be seen without them. The next year she graduated out of the program earlier because she was already skilled above the kids her age. Most thought that she shouldn’t no matter what but others agreed with the instructors. Her parents still had yet to find her an egg that matched though and Arya was still unhappy about the chance of living in solitude forever. That would change though within the next 3 years.
A little before Arya turned 20, her parents’ dragons had an egg. They had been mates for awhile, but her mom’s dragon could never conceive. When Arya saw that egg for the first time she knew that dragon that hatched from the blue egg was hers. Also knowing this, her parents had the blacksmith forage up a long sword. When Arya received this on her birthday she was ecstatic. That would be raised later on that day when the egg hatched and a blue dragon came put. Of course the dragon wen to its parents first, but then it turned to the girl whose voice it had heard from inside the egg. It was then Arya decided to name the female dragon Saphira after the color she was. Saphira had blown a stream of fire into the sky to signal her happiness.
From that day on the two were inseparable. They could always be found speaking, playing, ‘fighting’, and later flying with each other once Saphira reached the age of 3 and could stand someone on her back. When Saphira turned 4 and Arya turned 24, something grave happened. They were in the forest play fighting when they both heard screams and roars that were unimaginable. Scared for whatever was happening, Arya hopped onto Saphira back and they flew to her hose. While flying over the village, she saw most houses burnt down and no sounds coming from within. Arya, growing more and more scared turned slightly in her seat and saw that Halfdan, a Viking who had been trying to destroy their village and Alrek, his Longwing, were the ones causing all the destruction.
Arya landed in front of her house to see that it was the only one untouched still. When she ran inside, she heard the roar of Alrek as he started coming towards their house. Her mom quickly explained that her dad and his Longwing had gone to fight and hadn’t been back yet. Her mom feared the worse. Which is why she had everything all packed up for Arya, including her weapons, clothes, and some blankets to keep her warm. Arya tried to stay but her mom pushed her out and Saphira picked her up. Saphira’s mom had already explained everything about where Saphira had to take Arya. Of course both were sad but they knew they had to go.
As Arya and Saphira flew off into the night sky, they both turned back one last time to say goodbye. But when Saphira saw what was about to happen she turned. Making it to where Arya couldn’t see the island. Arya cried that night and the following nights every time they stopped to rest and eat. They flew for what seemed like months when Saphira finally landed in Berk. The times had been hard on both and the villagers could see that. Arya looked hungry and tired, while Saphira looked the same. Both were n bad condition from their flight. When Arya slid off, she checked to make sure that she had everything that had been given to her by her mom. She soon found out that this was Asther the leader of Berk.
Arya told Asther of her and Saphira’s story, not leaving out any details. Asther decided to wait until the next day to totally talk things out with the two of them and they were offered a small, but warm place to stay which both heartily agreed upon. The next day Arya and Saphira both walked over to where Asther had told them to meet them. They once again told their story, but more in detail. The look on Asther’s face was one that Arya knew. They were going to have to be put through a trail period, and only then would they be completely allowed. Arya understood this and so did Saphira. But they let her know that was going to be leader of Forsaken when she turned 30. She also let Asther know that she knew she wasn’t going to be able to do that or anything near that here since it was not her village at all. She let her know her many talents and Asther put the both of them to work.
A year passed and a lot of people trust them now. Arya had turned 25 in the year she spent there and Saphira had turned 5. Trust was easy to gain since Arya spoke Dragonese and the dragons convinced their owners that they were okay. When their year was up and Arya was about to turn 25 and Saphira 5, Asther surprised them with something special. She had been happy with the results they gave her and she allowed Arya to become a Viking. If they messed up even once and cause some sort of mayhem they would be banished. Arya and Saphira both agreed to that with hugs smiles on their faces. Well they finally turned 25 and 5, right now they are Vikings and have done exactly as Asther told them and more. Arya and Saphira are just waiting for the right moment so they can fly back to their village and just check to make sure there were no survivors.

RP EXAMPLE OF THE CHARACTER YOU'RE APPLYING FOR:
Arya looked out the window of her little house, Berk seemed alike and different then her old village in many ways. When memories of her old village started surfacing she stopped for a second. She could feel slight tears starting to come to her eyes. She cleared her throat and wiped her eyes not wanting to seem weak. She smiled when Saphira moved her head so that she could see Arya. It was a little difficult for the dragon to turn her body as people were walking in front of Arya’s house and Saphira was outside. Arya laughed as Saphira finally managed to turn her body enough to where she could see Arya closely. The human stuck her hand out and stroked Saphira on the top of the nose. ”Oh Saphira. I so wish that everything was back to the way it was before that battle. That mom and dad were still alive, that there was more of your kind.” Arya said in Dragonese.
Saphira sighed which blew a light steam around Arya. ”It’s fine little one. We shouldn’t focus on the past so much.” Arya turned at her words and looked at the house she had come to know as her home. Right now it was perfectly clean, but that was because she had spent most of the morning cleaning it. ”I know.” She She turned back to the window after taking a deep breath. She smiled at Saphira glad that the dragon always knew what was best for the two of them. But sometimes, she wished everything was back to the way it was.
