[atrb=border,0,btable][atrb=width,414,btable][cs=2] Amora Vigdis "I got a pocket, got a pocket full of sunshine. I've got a love and I know that it's all mine, oh, oo-wa-oh. Do what you want, but you're never gonna break me, sticks and stones are never gonna shake me, oh, oo-wa-oh..."-Natasha Bedingfield "I feel the wind in my hair, and it's whispering, telling me things, of a storm that is gathering near, full of power I'm spreading my wings. Now I'm leaving my worries behind, feel the freedom of body and mind. I'm starting my journey, I'm drifting away with the wind, I go! I am hunting high and low, diving from the sky above, looking for, more and more, once again! I'm hunting high and low, sometimes I may win, sometimes I'll lose, it's just a game that I play!"-Stratovarius [tr][cs=2][style=padding: 10 5 0 5; font-size:9px; font-family: verdana; text-align: justify;] [style=text-align: center; font-family: century gothic; font-size: 16px; border-bottom: solid 2px #222222; margin-bottom: 4px; text-transform: center;]FULL NAME Amora Vigdis ORIGINS Amora started life in Berk with her mother and father, Bruinhilde and Laafi, and her older brother Gunnar, who was five at the time. Although their grandparents had already passed on to Hel's realm, and their extended family was scattered across Berk and Hysteria, they had a happy home life for eight glorious, nearly care-free years, despite the troublesome inner-family conflict due to their spread across warring peoples. Her father was a stern, powerfully built armor-smith, and kept them fed with the sweat of his dark, craggy brow, while their mother, considerably lighter in demeanor, appearance, and frame kept the home pleasantly domestic and well fed. When they weren't helping their parents around the house, they were tearing around the forests on the island, learning every secret they could about the trees and animals that lived there. It would be a rare thing indeed for there to be an area near the village that was not host to one of their play-time hidey-holes. GENDER & SEXUALITY Female, heterosexual OCCUPATION On the edge of Berk proper, facing the nearby forests, stands a lone, broken down house filled with drying mushrooms, ferns, berries, and other plant matter. In that house dwells Helga the Hag, a highly skilled herbal healer. Next to her home lies a small shack, also containing an herbalist, Amora, her apprentice. Amora's job, aside from tidying up Helga's home when the old woman is too tired to do it herself, has three distinct parts. Mostly, she gathers the ingredients she or her Master requires. She will also help in preparing the medicines and teas Helga trades in. On rare occasions, she will treat sick or injured villagers herself, largely when Helga thinks she might learn from it, the hurt is a minor one, or Helga is having a rough time of things due to her age. Amora is proficient at all of these tasks, though she does the best at collecting, as her experiences playing in the wilds of Berk allow her locate and collect necessary ingredients with great haste. TRAITS [/style] | |
[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207] STRENGTHS: ▪ Excellent shot with a sling and thrown objects when stationary and unmolested, only average when harassed, distracted, or moving ▪ Above average (Apprentice) knowledge of herbal medicine, including poultices, brews, potions, steams, etc., as well as where to find and how to collect the ingredients properly. ▪ A high level of endurance and above average running speed, as well as agility. If vikings had gymnasts, she would be an excellent one. She has had plenty of trees and cliffs to practice moving around on, and continues to do so in her free time or when out looking for herbs, mushrooms, and the like. ▪ Above average knowledge of woodland survival and hunting, including how to set small traps, stalk small prey, find edible plant life, create shelter, and avoid predators. ▪ Able to ride her Nadder, Rooster, completely bareback, using her legs to lock around his midsection and pressure from them, or tugs on his horny frill, to steer when she has to. | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207] WEAKNESSES: ▪ Her actual raw strength is very much below average; she has the muscle to move herself with speed and grace, but as far as sheer brawn, she is sorely lacking. ▪ She doesn't know the first thing about fighting, beyond how to get away from the enemy. ▪ She cannot take a great deal of physical punishment. Anything beyond serious scrapes and bruises becomes a major problem for her. ▪ On occasion, her bold nature can get the better of her, and she can over-estimate her abilities, resulting in a missed jump, bad bet, or foot-in-mouth disease. |
[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207] LIKES: ▪ Flying with Rooster ▪ Successfully treating an illness or wound ▪ Going on an acrobatic romp through the forests of Berk, especially with company ▪ Spending time with Gunnar, Helga, and Rooster | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207] DISLIKES: ▪ Violence and bloodshed ▪ Losing, unless it's to someone she respects ▪ Being ignored ▪ Being alone for too long |
[atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207] FEARS: ▪ She is deathly afraid of spiders, to the point of it being a phobia. ▪ More than anything, she fears losing the people she cares about. She feels she has had enough of that for one lifetime. This is also closely associated with an absolute fear of open, bloody combat. | [atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207] AMBITIONS: ▪ To excel at the art of herbal healing under the tutelage of Helga the Hag, and in so doing make sure that others do not lose their loved ones if at all possible. ▪ To enjoy her life as fully as possible, and to share that joy with her brother, Helga, Rooster, and all who she holds dear. ▪ To eventually settle down with a good husband and raise an exceptionally large family. |
[cs=2] SECRETS: |
▪ She still owns a small stuffed sackcloth Night Fury that she has had since she was a little baby, and sleeps with it regularly. It reminds her of her father and mother and is a security item she never was able to grow out of.

If there was one phrase that encompassed all that Amora is, it would be "very much alive". It is hard to remain sedentary around someone so energetic and vibrant, or sad around someone so relentlessly cheerful. True, while this can really get on her fellow Viking's nerves, she rarely lets that get her down. She isn't exactly the biggest worrier when it comes to what people think of her or her actions anyway, unless they happen to hurt people. She's very much against doing that, unless, of course, they're a bully or someone else who deserves it.
It is, of course, the loss of her parents at a young age that drives her to keep this attitude even in the darkest of times, although it can become more of an act the blacker the situation becomes. Underneath the rapidly growing facade, a virulent sadness or rage will build, and she will suddenly snap if pushed to far. She already has an easily excitable personality, and these "eruptions" can happen if she is caught of guard and has no time to quell her natural "leap before you look" responses.
Alongside this unbridled energy and joy is a somewhat enlarged ego brimming with self-confidence, which sometimes gets her into trouble when her wits don't reign it in in time to avoid calamity. She's highly competitive and ready for a challenge, especially when it comes to something she's skilled in, and really hates losing or backing down, unless, of course, she admires the person she's losing to, like her brother or Helga.
All of this vim and vigor is channeled into a needle-hole focus when she goes to work as an herbal healer, and her normally rambunctious nature shrinks to a gentle bedside whisper and tender hands instead of nearly yelling and friendly tackles or roughhousing. She is almost impossible to distract and will be very brusque when being bombarded with information that does not concern helping her charges get well again.
Of course, what started her on the road to becoming a healer in the first place has also left a normally unseen wound, and there is a hurting, sorrowful side to her that only her brother and Rooster usually see. She rarely shows it, but happy families still cause her deep pain at times, and every so often a memory will put her in tears that she always tries hard to hide. It is this element of loss and pain that leads her to be as kind as she can, most of the time, for she knows the depths of hurting that a person can fall into, and she has a strong desire to keep other people from that harm.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
(images created using Heromachine 3)[/td][/tr]
Height: 5'
Weight: 102 Ilbs
Amora is a small, delicate looking young woman at first glance, but a closer inspection reveals that though her frame is small, she is wiry and possesses a surprising amount of muscle for her build. This is due to a lifetime of running, jumping, and climbing around Berk. Her golden hair is of medium length and is usually kept tied up, but it often comes partially loose due to her extremely active lifestyle, and falls lopsidedly over the right side of her face. Her left eye is ringed by a blue tattoo she thought would look good on a whim one day. (In actuality, she lost a bet, but wormed her way around it by making the required face tattoo look really good.) She is fair in complexion with nut brown eyes, and consistently has a large grin plastered across her face. Her movements are quick, expansive, and excited, and her high, sweet voice has a habit of running out before she has finished talking, so that it trails off into a squeak before she takes a deep breath and starts again.
Her usual clothing often involves some sort of simple, monotone dress with uncomplex borders and hems, usually of complimentary color. The dresses, unless for a special occasion, are usually made of tougher material that can handle her climbing rocks, trees, jumping off of them, and running around Berk. She keeps her dresses from billowing out around the waist by tying them close with a simple length of cord. She either goes barefoot or uses simple shoes made of hardened leather.

DRAGON NAME:
▪ Rooster
[td][atrb=valign,top][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,207]
DRAGON BREED:
▪ Deadly Nadder
[tr][td][cs=2]
DRAGON DESCRIPTION & PERSONALITY:
▪ Rooster is your average Deadly Nadder in appearance, but fairly unique in his behavior.
Rooster was always a peculiar, curious little (relatively) fellow, whose inquisitive nature led him to stray from his clutchmates and nest so often that he eventually became separated from them. After trying unsuccessfully to find them over the course of a few months, he shrugged off his losses and decided to strike out on his own. His incessant need to investigate strange new things got him into trouble as often as his wits and natural skill got him out of it. He lived alone like this for many years until he reached his full size, shortly after which he stumbled awkwardly into Amora's life.
Rooster, as said before, is an energetic, highly intelligent, incredibly inquisitive dragon, who has an obsession with examining news things with claws, teeth, nose, and eyes, until he is finally satisfied or too bored to continue. To this end, he is easy to distract if not kept on task by Amora, and because of this he usually requires fairly constant supervision unless he is asleep. He is also very friendly for a dragon, and tends to only become aggressive when harassed or threatened. Perhaps it is his way of dealing with growing up alone or unaided, or maybe he was born that way. Whatever the cause, he is more likely to tear open your pocket looking for a morsel of food than your belly for the same.
Like all Nadders, he loves attention, and will often bother someone, usually Amora, until he gets a good scratching or some baby talk, or perhaps a pat on the head. If ignored, he will become increasingly agitated to the point of spitting small amounts of flame unless he is chastised for throwing a hissy fit.
Aside from his genuinely pleasant demeanor and obsessive intellect, two other behavior quirks set him solidly apart from others of his breed. For one, every morning at dawn, unless he knows it would be unwise to reveal his location, he emits a series of deafening shrieks like the bird he was named after. While at first it was maddening, Amora and Helga have gotten used to it. Those unfortunate enough to live close by have yet to do the same.
He also has a very interesting way of communicating with humans. He pantomimes out what he needs to say in a highly exaggerated fashion, which is usually so comical that most don't even know he's trying to let them know something. Again, while Amora, Helga, and Gunnar can understand him most of the time(with Amora being the most capable of the three), the others that often come across him in their daily lives can still only barely understand what he is trying to do. This confusion has never once influenced him to try and use Dragonese to converse with humans, although he uses it all the time with other dragons. It is likely that he just finds his own special method of sharing information far more entertaining.
All this well-meaning quirk and oddity is fine and good, but when push comes to shove, it becomes very clear that Rooster didn't survive alone for so long on just his wits. If pressed, he can be an absolutely ferocious fighter, forsaking all his fun-loving attitude for a rampant bloodlust in defense of self and rider. For all his queer behavior, he is also a highly competent hunter who rarely goes home with an empty stomach.
