Yeah um, I have to wonder about Night Furies.
I was wondering, maybe to control the population since it would be unfair to have one person get one of the rare dragons, and then somebody tell the other that:
I dunno, I think maybe, that somebody can earn a Night Fury later on by reaching a set post count, possibly hundred [though that may be a bit easy, maybe three to five hundred?]
Or some other incentive to reach that goal?
Just a thought so nobody can complain with the excuse or reasoning that "But somebody before me just got a Night Fury easy, why can't I have one?"
Sorry if this is rude ^^;;

I took notice of the insweep of Night Fury applications, myself, and was actually considering the same thing overnight. XD.

lol, xD I had to bring it up because I'd want one too, but I'd want to earn it. Experience and all, five hundred posts could be required to get a Night fury >.>
I just know its fairly easy to reach that many posts once you have a character and are active in the board. Those who already have one can keep it but maybe?

500 posts is indeed a fair sum, however, that takes a while...XD.
So, I was thinking of guaging a number of IC posts on one character, so they're specific and RP-related.
Ill play with the idea some more though c:

It may take awhile but have to also imagine how many people you'll have later on xD but yeah, possibly just three hundred posts or something until you get a bunch more members.

I definitely agree with having a specified post count, although what immediately came to mind is should a member post in many, if not all threads open just to rack up the number... I've seen it before--not necessarily for that reason, but it had that same effect. Like Phoenix said, it may not be a problem now, but should the site be suddenly overwhelmed with new and accepted characters, perhaps in such instance adding a limit to the number of threads a character is allowed to be in at one time may be reasonable.
As for post counts... would it be it cumulative? Since characters are on separate accounts.
Also~ I would like to mention that maybe, when dealing with separate member dragon/viking pairs, that possibly allotting a thread or two of bonding requirement? So as to allow many characters to reply and have a shot in hopes of getting a potential dragon so people aren't just asking through the c-box. I'm not saying that they can't do that, but there should at the very least a full thread--I haven't thought of how many posts is "full"--of development before the human can ride the dragon who is completely willing. Otherwise, a non-dragon viking will soon off, if not their first thread, gain a dragon. But that doesn't always happen, I realize, but I can guarantee it will occur more without such advisory.

I can see many a problem with this kind of thing truly. But a solution for some instead of limiting threads is disabling the post count in game threads or spam related threads. That way, people gain a post count through fair roleplaying. Closed threads are encouraged so that people can't enter every single thread so that is just a bit of the solution.
There is no possible way to eliminate some roleplayer who will think "I must have a night fury" and begin spamming certain threads. From a site I've been on for four years, they solve this be banning said person for a few days, or penalizing with a warning bar. This depend son getting caught, and really? Some are, some aren't, can't help that. Other members come into play here by reporting to somebody like Asther or you.
Plot planning or other members private messaging each-other can gain a dragon I assume, I agree that a member beginning to bond with a dragon/viking will have to have one thread per character like that. If for some reason a half of that pair vanishes, can't continue, or simple doesn't want to anymore then they can try to find somebody else. A viking can't have two dragon's right?
Cumulative, it has to depend. If somebody starts making extra accounts just to get posts and says so, that's thoroughly unreasonable. If somebody has two, at the most three in my opinion then yeah, but only a real roleplay setting of posts.
What I want to really understand is a post count for later on, and possibly eliminating the post count for spam and game threads. everything else is liable to count towards posts.

Well, yes, disabling post counts on spam boards is a given. xD That's why I didn't bother to mention it.
As for members posting everywhere... That wasn't what I was getting at. I'd prefer it officially stated somewhere so that people are even more discouraged. That's not to say they won't do it anyway, but it ought to lessen the amount. Sure we can ban them--ban them for a millennia!--but I'd rather deal with less of it and including the drama that is to follow suite after it. Someone down the line is bound to retaliate with a "It wasn't in the rules!" no matter how much it is actually common sense.
And yes, I understand the concept of closed threads, but many aren't. Especially for those who are just starting out and don't know who to RP with.
As for multiple dragons(at once)... I believe they can, especially should one dragon be unable to fly with their owner. But I'm sure you can get another dragon/viking.
Lol, I usually have at least five characters on one site. Normally. Daggom school is ruining biography making for me... >.<
*mutters to self* Maybe I should make a Night Fury before this gets approved and set in stone... 300's a lot, lol... at this rate, at least.
Nah, even then I probably won't...

I figure but I'm blunt xP lol
That would be good, but those without common sense really shouldn't be on a board. If I have to use an example I will, because this single person has pissed me and many admins and mods off ><
Starting out is key, then once it grows its almost impossible to find an open thread. Ah, I see heh xD I can see pet dragons besides training now -facepalm-
I've had 12 on one, but I usually have quite a few. It takes me a bit to get them. And maybe go for one I guess xD I figure I'll wait, a Night Fury is special but may not be the absolute strongest. Just cause it's famous. >.> <.< everything doesn't have to uber strict to start though anyway ^^
