What kind of dimensions are you looking for, for the overhead banner? I'll have a go at making that all HDM themed, I'm thinking a mixture of dust that looks like in the film and animals, maybe with the compass as well, i'll make some ideas and i'll let you choose

I have a friend working on customizing a skin, header banner, and sideboxes. We can see what we like and dont like and possibly mix-and-match. What she has so far though for the background of the forum boxes is here

Note the blue forum body and banner are some things she did for my site and her own, respectively XD but the compass and words are what she has so far ^^

I already made one banner before i saw this post, and the dimensions are 700x300 pixels.

I'm new to helping design a forum, if theres anything else aside from the banner that needs doing, please let me know!

I'm thinking about how we're going to sort out how the forums are categorised - because HDM takes place in all sorts of different places (and worlds) we should limit how many worlds we can do. If the RP is set after Lyra's story, then travel to different worlds will be impossible, so we can't include universes like Our world, the Mulefa's world, The Gallvespians world etc... However if the story is set before Lyra's time but after the creation of the Knife, then there could be a section for other worlds, main worlds being listed then a Misc. Universe story for the Rper's imagination go wild.

We could allow for the death universe to exist, so that if people want to kill off their characters they can - and after going through the death world they could choose to re-use their character once again or if they wanna kill off their character for good they can to that too.

Then I think since we're mainly going to be in Lyra's world there should be an Arctic section, including Bolvangar, Trollesund, Witches territory and where the Panserborne live. Then theres an Oxford/London section containing Jordan College, the Magisterium HQ, inner city, market place etc. And then the canals for the Gyptians including the fens, seas, etc.

To make it easier for admins/mods, higher up people (Master of Jordan College, King of Gyptians etc) should mod their own sections so they don't have to monitor as much stuff than monitoring the entire forum independantly.

Well, these are my suggestions, you don't have to agree with them at all. Just putting what I have in mind to paper *cough* I mean computer.

Okay, I've added a whole bunch of plausible rp places. We'll have to design a character application, and I think the Admin should play the leadership roles like the Master of Jordan College, Lord of the Gyptians, head of the magisterium etc.

chop and change and one pleases ^_^ this is a collaborative effort after all

well, I dont think just the admin should partake in that, I think those heads should be given out to experienced RPers whose experience we know of and have seen, maybe as like a third character or something.

aaand...you might want to consider adding some header/footer coding so the board isnt incredibly stretched, and dimming some of the colors so the skin isnt as...eye-raping XD

good colors to use together, but very contrasting ^^
