“Careful with that,” the female Viking shouted as she watched over some of the others moved the cargo onto their boat. She smiled as she watched. “Lovely just how useless some people are, she muttered quietly enough that the men couldn’t hear her.
“Bit pot and kettle, don’t you think?”[/b] the one character that could hear her asked. She turned to her dragon and raised an eyebrow, “I’ve watched you enough over the years to know how rubbish you are at times, point is everyone has bad moments, even you and I.”[/b]
The warrior rolled her eyes at her dragon’s comment and looked over at her brother, who was helping with moving the items with them. He wasn’t coming with them, some people were staying behind in the main village, but he wanted to help with the loading at least. She then started to look about, wondering where her brother’s wife was.
“You going to leave without saying goodbye?” She turned round to see Fyklir at the end of the pier. Her face lit up at that, she hadn’t seen Fyklir in a while now.
“Of course now, I was wondering if you would turn up though. Changed your mind? Wanting to come with us?”
Fyklir raised an eyebrow at that, “Of course,” he said sarcastically, “I’ll just leave the kid here on his own with his friend of a dragon...”
“Fair enough,” she conceded, that dragon wasn’t the best of influences on her son. She looked out at the boat again; it looked like everything was loaded now. “Looks like I’ll be going soon,” She turned back to her husband and saw that he’d been joined by their son. He was a thin boy mid-long bright ginger hair. Since both his parents shared similar traits to him, it was easy to tell he was their son. She knelt down to his eye level and smiled, “hey there, you going to be okay with me gone?”
The boy nodded, “yeah, I’ll be fine mum.”
“Time to go,” a voice from the land said. They looked to see her dad, their leader and chief.
She stood up straight, “Right away pops,” she started to walk to the ship, keeping herself still point towards her husband and son, “Be back soon, come on Rocky,” she said to her Nadder, who followed her lead.
“Don’t get up to anything too bad Baldr,” the dragon said to the boy.
“I won’t, bye mum, bye Rags,” He shouted to them as they boarded the ship. As Baldr’s mum got to the boat, her brother, Hrothgar, was leaving it. They nodded to each other as they did. There was a rivalry between the two that no one really noticed. She was the elder, but normally succession went to the son...and both of them were good material for leaders, or at least she thought they both where.
She watched her father as he got on the boat. For his age, he was still as fit as everyone else and ready to lead Hysteria to what came next. She could hear the noise of the dragons flying over the ships, waiting for the humans to start moving. Hysteria was a great dragon loving island, stronger than in most respect than all the other islands in the area, in their opinion anyway.
And while this post has been following Baldr’s mum, that isn’t what we’ll be following. These shorts are my way of working out the history of Hysteria, the history of Baldr Bjorg from when he started dragon training himself. Don’t regard what I write as canon to the RP site, it’s more me getting a rough idea, one that will probably only loosely followed and will be changed as time goes on and more Hysterian characters are made. Until then, I hope you enjoy this little fanfic of a Fanfic world.
