DATE & TIME : 22/05, Afternoon WEATHER CONDITIONS : blue skies, occasional cloud, overall good flying conditions CHARACTERS INVOLVED : Sven, Hermes, Ingrid and Montore? PREVIOUS THREADS ? (Detention) Mountain Retreat.
Today was a good day. Both Sven and Hermes knew that. It was about time the duo had some recreation, though more for Sven. He had been so busy lately, helping Luna more than his own work. It was for recreational purposes that they were now soaring high in the mountains.
It had been a while since they had done this together, and it felt good for both of them. Flying together always strengthened their bond. "Ready?" Hermes asked over the wind. Sven patted her neck, signalling to go. With that, she snapped her wings shut, bowing her head to control direction and folded her rudders. They began to plummet. Sven just laughed and wooped as adrenaline rose in him, using all his force to stay on the dragon's back, holding himself close to the beast's body to create less friction.
Hermes began to level out further down, flying at speed through the valleys. Eventually her rudders fanned out once more, which sent them suddenly spiralling upwards into the sky, where Hermes found a thermal, and began to soar in it. Sven was out of breath from exhilaration; Hermes was completely normal. Hermes laughed. "You're getting out of shape mate!" With that, she spiralled slowly down to a grassy banking, when she landed gently. Break time.
Sven dismounted, and made himself comfortable on the grass. A light wind ruffled through his yellow mane, as Hermes came down to lie beside him. Leaning back slightly, he rested on Hermes' wing, which was warm from the strength and friction it had endured. Hermes curled her head around to lay on the grass, beside his lap.
They stayed like that, for about half an hour maybe, just soaking in the sun. But then a little breeze wafted their way, and one of Hermes' crests flicked, sensing something. She stirred, raising her neck swiftly, smelling the air and looking into the distance. Sven opened an eye, wondering what was going on. But before he could say anything Hermes had stood up, making the young man fall backwards onto the ground. Hermes unfastened the straps around her (in the way Sven had designed it) and slipped out of her saddle, and took off into the azure sky.
Hermes had sensed something on the wind, something familiar. Taking a thermal, she began to soar higher and higher, increasing her field of vision to find that source. Something clicked in the dragon's mind, remembering what it meant as she saw a dark shape below her.
There was another Ambassador on this island.

{(AND I DON'T WANT)} the world to see me It would've been a lie if Montore had said the past few days had been perfectly fine. For, in reality, it was far beyond that. At least, for him it was in such a way. Ever since that blasted female Galewing had appeared, his closest companion had spent most of her focus on her and had, in his eyes, been completely ignoring him. Yes, he understood that the reptilian was injured, but that gave Ingrid no right to just toss him off to the side. With a faint growl in his throat, the black pelted male slowly weaved his way through the trees of the mountains. Now, the Ambassador wasn't ever one to really be so upset by something like that, but...Well, even he wasn't sure what the reason was. His anger had never been an issue for him, yet here he was glaring daggers at another dragon.
Pausing on his like hike, Montore shook his well-built form, unfurling his wings briefly as his mind skimmed over the memories of the past few days. The stinging twinge of jealousy aroused in him again as it always seem to at the thought of the two females. His scales came to stand on end slightly as he pawed angrily at the ground, turning up the dirt. After a few moments of performing his little temper tantrum, he calmed down enough to allow himself to think at least somewhat clearly. "That stupid, stupid female! Stealing my human!", he hissed in his mind. But, he also felt a sliver of anger at Ingrid. Why did she have to focus on that Galewing so much? Why could the two of them just go off on their adventures like they use to do? Why, why, why?!
Breathing harshly by then, Montore just stood there staring at the ground, his thoughts gradually draining from his mind as a new thought came to mind. Yes, she had her attention on the untamed female, but who was the one she always returned to at night to share her dreams with? Who was the one she shared her secrets with and trust more than anyone else? Him. She trusted and loved him. Blinking, the Ambassador felt his muscles slump as his anger and jealousy practically drained from his being and sunk into the earth. Lifting his head up with a sense of dignity, Montore began hissing to himself in his thoughts, realizing just how childish and immature he was being about this. He wasn't a wrymling anymore.
Making up his mind, the male was determined to return to the village and stay with Ingrid like he had promised to do in the beginning until a strong breeze slammed a familiar yet foreign scent into his nostrils. Muscles tensing, Montore stared wide-eyed at the view in front of him, his violet eyes searching for the source. Clicking his beak together, he shuffled nervously on his feet, not sure how to react to the scent. Catching a figure above him, though, had him quickly crouching low to the ground as he gave a faint hiss, watching the silhouette of the new reptilian.

Hermes gave a loud cawing noise - a signature call in which Ambassadors could acknowledge each other's presence. As Hermes circled lower and lower to the other Ambassador's location, she eventually could pick out details of the creature: it was a male, recognisable by his slightly longer crests and tail piece, and that he had a purple tint to his scales.
Getting a bit lower, he noticed her in the sky, and appeared to brace himself. Elevating herself again by a few metres, she looked around the area. No threats, so why was he acting nervous? Maybe he was a shy fellow. But as she was scouting the land, she had completely forgotten that she had folded her rudders, so she quickly spread them wide, betraying her dark form in it's entirety against the bright sky.
The abrupt opening of the rudders destablised her a little, but she quickly regained her composure, and began to re-descend to the male Ambassador. Hermes gave another loud click, earning herself one last helix on a thermal, before landing a little bit away from him. It was normal to be cautious, even in the same non-violent species. Sometimes there were Ambassadors that Hermes would call... idiots.
She bowed her head at him, cool blue eyes fixed on his purple ones. Normally, Hermes would have come up next to him ease, but she could feel a sort of tension in him, and wasn't sure how to interpret it, so she stayed put.
"Hey there. Where've you been?" She asked. She laughed at herself internally. How long had it been since she had used that custom greeting? It had been... years since she had seen another one of her kind. Though the custom greeting wasn't as good as the human's in her opinion, she was also genuinely curious about this fellow Ambassador.
"My name is Hermes. Pleasure to make your aquaintance."
Meanwhile, back where Sven was sat, he heard the call echo through the mountain range. His eyes widened. He too recognised the call, but it had been so long since he had heard it... Quickly rummaging through his bag to withdraw his notebook, he only had to open the first page to find information on Ambassadors. A page later, he found what he was looking for - the long distance call, used by Ambassadors when their acute senses manage to single out another one of their species.
(OOC: When Hermes says 'where have you been', it's pretty much the same way how we say 'how have you been?'. Because of their (not obligatory) nomadic behaviour, they take more interest in where they have been beforehand. It's only really said during the first encounter though, afterwards they'll say 'how are you' or similar.)

{(AND I DON'T WANT)} the world to see me Staring up at the stranger, Montore relaxed just as fast as he had tensed up as he heard the call that ever Ambassador knew, young or old. With his beak slightly hanging open with astonishment, the male could hardly remember the last time her had met up with another one of his kind. Shuffling on his feet slightly, his head tilted off to the side faintly, watching the other Ambassador. It was hard for him to see clear, though, as the sun's rays dampened his ability of sight. He was able to focus on her briefly, though, as she suddenly opened her rudders and stilled herself enough for him to make a quick look over. The blue tint to her scales fascinated him, but even more so was the fact that she was a female.
Yes, he had met a few females in his youth, but that had been when he had lived with his family and had hung relatively close to others. But, since then, he hardly met many of his own species and even less of them being females. Clicking his beak, Montore watched the female as she made a bit of a clumsy land, quietly chuckling to himself as his crest scales fanned out with interest. Smiling as she spoke, his head tilted a bit more to the side as he went to answer. "Montore."
, he said in a sort of prideful tone as he held his head high before stepping closer to Hermes. "And, I've been to many places, but I live at the grand village of Berk, now.", he answered as he pawed slightly at the ground. Living among humans was something he always liked to sort of brag about to other dragons, and brag even more about the young viking girl he loved so much. "Now, as a returned favor, may you tell where you've been?", he questioned, watching the female.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] {('CAUSE I DONT THINK)} that they'd understand Speech ThoughtsWords of other charrie(s) TAGGED;: Hermes/Sven WORDCOUNT;: 351 COMMENTS;: Sorry it's so short >< Not, one of my best. Hermes smiled, glad that Montore didn't appear to be aggressive or super shy. She clicked in acknowledgement of his current abode, on this island. Though Hermes had been on this island for a few months now, she had not yet seen this fellow Ambassador. Hermes had a little proud moment about their skill as a species for their elusiveness.
The navy tinted dragon listened to Montore, and almost wanted to snort at his remark of the Viking village being 'grand', but she held back, since she felt they were still in the first impressions stage of their encounter. Not the best time to speak her mind, not for now. As Montore returned the question, she held her head high. Thanks to Sven, she had learnt the names of locations she would stay at. At this time, she also decided to not speak about her coalition with a human, in case he was against them.
"I was last in a southern continent, which my colleague told me it was called the 'Andes'. My goodness how wonderful it was to fly there." The dragon's eyes veered off into the sky in remembrance of the last place she had been to. Suddenly she shook her head, snapping back to the conversation at hand, blue eyes fixed onto his purple ones.
"So... uh, how are you liking this place so far? In my opinion it's a tad chilly, but theres so much variation in the air currents, it makes me glad I have wings. I love a good wind." With that, she made a shrugging motion with her folded wings.
"Speaking of wind, it's such a great day for flying, why are you on the ground?" With that, Hermes circled Montore, inspecting him. "You're not hurt, are you?" He looked fine, a healthy individual. With a click of confirmation, she beat her wings, disconnecting herself from the ground. She used the light winds and the fine controls of her flight mechanisms to stay on the spot in mid-air, with the aid of the occasional semi-flap. "What are you waiting for?" She clucked with a smile.

{(AND I DON'T WANT)} the world to see me As the female of his kind spoke, his head crests twitch occasionally as his mind ran over her words, some of them making little to no sense to him. Andes? What in the name of Thor was an Andes? Tilting his head to the side, Montore wondered the place she described looked like. In his mind, a place called Andes sounded like a place that was filled with nothing but dirt, only seeing sand and dry earth in his mind. He wasn't really one for such places, having visited a few in his life time. Yes, he may have liked heat, but those unforgiving, desolate landscapes were nothing to his tastes. Of course, he could always be wrong, never knowing the names of the places he had stumbled upon during his years of travel.
Of course, he was partially to blame as he never took interest of learning said names, having always found it to be pointless, though perhaps this would be a grand example of just how important it actually was. Clicking his beak quietly, he dragged himself out of his thoughts as she moved on, now seeming to focus on the grand land that they now both resided in. Now this, this was a land that he knew very well. Though, he had only been here for about two to three years so, perhaps he didn't know everything about the island like he always claimed to. "Well, yes, it does give you a bit of a chill once in awhile, but it's a grand place. So many friends to make and adventures to discover. Not to mention, the village here is absolutely splendid."
, he added as his sense of pride of his new homeland filled him. Yes, he may have be a naturally migratory creature, but he managed to dampen that instinct to live with Ingrid. And, the friendly people of the village helped him with doing so. He loved the humans there, especially the young ones, always finding the small little beings to be adorable and fun to play with. It was that village that he was so proud of that kept him there, and it was something he would never give up. Smiling as his prideful thoughts spilled into his mind, Montore startled slightly when the female suddenly decided to study him. "Hurt? No, of course not. I was simply enjoying a brisk, leisurely walk through the woods to clear my mind.", he explained simply as if it had been an obvious thing. With his violet eyes watching Hermes, the male Ambassador didn't even dare to say no, not wanting to miss such an opportunity like this. When would he have the chance to so freely fly beside someone of his own kind? Excitedly pawing at the ground, Montore lunged upward as his wings stretched out to their full wingspan, beating them down towards the earth as he lifted up into the air. "Well, are you coming?", he asked in a playful but teasing manner as he flew above the blue-tinted female, a smile forming onto his face. Montore was quickly above her, a dark silhouette in the sky. Upon his remark, she smiles, beating her wings several times to try and 'overtake' him in altitude. Unfortunately the rising thermals made it a little harder to reach her goal, but she quickly got level with him. Now, with his wings spread out, the tints that were reflected from the sun's rays made a beautiful shimmering display; the phenomenon was the same for her too, but she paid no mind.
Familiarising herself with the air current, she began to perform carefree maneuvers around him, generally enjoying the wind. It definitely was a great day for flying. With swoops and spins, she steadily rose higher, until the view was nothing but mountain ranges and forests all the way around, with the sea in the distance.
Hermes saw a little famliar blue and khaki coloured individual down below, with blonde hair betraying his presence like a light bulb. She grinned, but said nothing. She still had no idea what Montore's opinion on humans were. Though he did mention the village...
"So, er..." She started all of sudden, breaking the breezy silence. "You like that village then? Not too bothered about humans?"
Humans was a touchy subject with some Ambassadors. From her experiences with others of her kind, some were more wary than others about the bipedal beings. In some places, people valued their durable, sharp scales, and enjoyed to hunt them down when possible. Hermes knew that the Vikings here were friendly towards dragons now, but it didn't mean everywhere was the same.
She remembered back to when she first met Sven. Back then, she was very cautious about humans. It took her a while to trust him; but in the end, it was her curiosity in the boy, how he was different from all the others that dared enter her cave that eased her. He wasn't a poacher. He was just interested in her for her sole existence - dragons weren't common in that area, she recalled well. It was her and her help alone that Sven had become a good dragonologist.

{(AND I DON'T WANT)} the world to see me Smiling, he closed his eyes as he felt the wind run over his scales. The wind; that was always something he loved and enjoyed about flying. The cool breeze, the currents, it was all something that he would never want to give up. But, it was never a smart thing to fly with his eyes closed, at least not for very long. He had tried that once and it had ended up with him caught in a tree for about two hours. Not a very fun time. Opening his eyes again before he made the same mistake, he finally noticed how the female reptilian was gliding around him. His smiling grew as he chuckled lightly, his violet eyes watching her before he playfully swung his tail at her, jokingly trying to throw her off balance just a bit.
"Mind the humans? No, of course not."
, he said with a grin, his head crests perked up with amusement, surprised she would ask something like that. "I mean, they're great! They're so friendly. Especially Ingrid. You'll have to meet her some day.", he offered, his scales momentarily puffing out in both pride and excitement at the mention of his human. Yes, they had had their dispute and what not, but...Well, that was behind them now, and it was something he wasn't going to linger on much longer. He had already focused on it for way too long, and it was something that he was a bit ashamed for. Glancing back at Hermes, the larger Ambassador watched her for her reaction, wondering what her thought on humans were. He hadn't really met other of his species that had looked down so much on humans, but it was something that he was sure wasn't uncommon. Hopefully, though, she wasn't one who was like that. Anxiety dissipated in Hermes as Montore expressed his feelings upon the matter of humans. When it came to humans, though, Hermes was the biggest hypocrite of them all. She strictly refused to be considered 'tame', and always found it a disgrace when a species as dignified as her own would willingly bring themselves down to such a level of serving a human 'master'. Yet she still had a close bond with Sven, and occasionally did his bidding, often with diversions or shortcuts.
When Montore mentioned Ingrid, Hermes frowned briefly. But she wasn't stupid. Montore wasn't speaking ill of humans, nor had any resentment in the mention of his human. Maybe he had the same sort of relationship between them as Hermes did with Sven?
"I have a colleague too, Sven." Hermes replied. "He's not far away; he studies Dragons. I think he'd be interested in seeing a male of our species. Only if you really want; then maybe we can see your Ingrid?"
Hermes was definitely interested. She decided that if she saw Ingrid for herself, she could only then judge Montore whether he had really no sense of dignity or not. She was too proud to think any other way, really.
With that, Hermes distanced herself slightly from Montore, flying closer to where Sven was positioned, down on one of the mountain sides. She could see the speck of his yellow hair, making him stick out from his surroundings.

{(AND I DON'T WANT)} the world to see me Montore's ear crests shot up as Hermes spoke, happily clicking his beak as she described her own relations to a human. Oh, wasn't this just a splendid thing? Not only would he have the chance to show off his beloved human, but he'd make yet another acquaintance as well. Doing a half twist in the air as he let out a playful screech, he smiled at the blue-tinted female as he spoke. "Absolutely! I would love to meet this human of yours."
, he said, his clawed forefeet flexing faintly for a moment. He had always enjoyed meeting new people, human and reptilian alike, and his excitement was obvious in his behavior. Glancing at her with his bright violet eyes, he gradually followed her gaze back down towards the earth, tilting his head faintly as he spotted the yellow-haired male. "Is that him? My, I haven't seen a male of his kind with such a yellowed color of fur. ", he commented, his interest in Hermes' companion spiking as he circled around him. Most of the others in the village had darker hair, though some were lighter and held that yellow tone to it. But, it had been a long while since he had seen a human where the hair color really was a yellow. Clicking his beak, he looked up at the female as he spoke in a teasing tone. "Well? Aren't you going to introduce me?" [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] {('CAUSE I DONT THINK)} that they'd understand Speech ThoughtsWords of other charrie(s) TAGGED;: Sven and Hermes WORDCOUNT;: 231 COMMENTS;: Meep x3 LYRICS;: Iris - Goo Goo Dolls MUSE;: 7/10 Status;: Finished

Hermes smiled as Montore seemed okay with it. The purple-tinted Ambassador made a remark, also noticing Sven on the hillside.
"Yeah, that's him alright." By then, Hermes was circling over the human below, slowly descending with wings more closed than usual. She laughed a little at his remark of the man's hair. Landing, her feet touching the ground lightly, she watched as Sven got up, slightly curious but irritated at Hermes' abrupt departure.
"You could've explained where you were going!" Sven said, a little harshly but it wasn't meant to be, as he patted her neck in greeting. Hermes made a shrugging motion with her now neatly folded wings.
"I couldn't be sure." She excused. Behind them, Montore piped up, asking for introductions. Hermes complied. "Montore, this is Sven. Sven, this is Montore. I don't think I need to explain more... I hope?"
Sven had already walked past Hermes and stood before Montore, admiring the different coloured scales. He already had his notebook out, scribbling information, like the tint colour and dimorphisms, noting that Montore was indeed a lot larger than Hermes, and that his crests and tail piece were long than Hermes.
"Hi there, Montore. I think this has to be the first time I've met the male of your wonderful species. How long have you been on Berk?" Behind him, Hermes' crests flattened irritably due to the lack of attention as usual whenever Sven finds something intriguing, in this case, Montore.

{(AND I DON'T WANT)} the world to see me With his feet excitedly shifting beneath him, Montore was obviously becoming impatient as the female continued to have her little conversation with the human. No, he wanted to meet this newcomer. Clicking his beak as his head crests rose, he gave no hesitation to step forward as Hermes finally introduced them, lightly bowing his head in respect. "Salutations, Sven. It's a pleasure to meet you."
, he said as he slowly raised his head back again, his violet eyes watching the boy with just as much interest. He always enjoyed meeting new people, and this was no exception. What he found even more fascinating was that Hermes had a human as young as him. Of course, he wasn't one to talk about age in the first place since his human was still a young wyrmling. But, he hadn't heard of another one of his kind besides himself that had a human companion. Smiling as the male began to walk around him faintly, his scales began to puff out at his comment as he held his head up just a little bit higher. "Well, if you include the year I spent here before I found my human than I'd say about four or five years.", he stated, his wings shuffling faintly as her quietly chirped. Yes, Montore was liking this extra attention very much, hardly noticing the unpleasant look from Hermes as he kept his eyes on Sven. "And, if I may inquire, what is it that you are writing down so quickly?", he asked, tilting his head slightly as he craned his neck down, looking briefly over the pages and the few words he could see. But, of course, he knew nothing of what they said. Sven beamed as Montore did not seem aggressive, but instead just as dignified and majestic as Hermes was. Curiosity made him wonder if all Ambassadors held themselves this way. Sven had to admit that this dragon was beautiful, with violet-tinted scales that gleamed in the sunlight.
Hermes' crests pricked up at Montore's following answer, her eyes furrowing. He had been here four or five years? "What about the winter? The plumage?" She seethed. Hermes hated winter plumage. She thought it was ugly. Sven made no remark, continuing to scribble in his book. Hermes was like a jealous sibling without attention.
"That's a long time for an Ambassador. The most me and Herms here have stayed in one place is about several months... Although it looks like we're breaking a record here, do you like it here or what?" Sven joked. In response Hermes just snorted, turning her head away. She could tell that Montore was bathing in the limelight.
The male Ambassador then made a remark about Sven's book. The young man smiled in response. "This? This is the book that I record all my information about dragons in. If Hermes didn't say, I'm a Dragonologist - I study dragons."
Sven presented the book to Montore, showing him the pages of his own kind. He had several pages written down, stuffed with pictures and information - due to the extent of his time with Hermes, he had gained valuable information, and Sven was pretty sure he was the only person to know so much about this elusive species. It was partly this fact that he rarely showed his book to other people voluntarily.
"Since I haven't seen a male of your species, it's interesting for me to know the differences between you and Hermes, how you react between each other, blah blah blah." He made a twirling motion with his hand as he said this, to emphasize the amount of things the Dragonologist would focus on when studying dragons.
"Enough about me." He said finally, admiring Montore's eye colour, "Let's talk about you. I'm guessing you've been in contact with humans before, seeing how comfortable you are in my presence?"
