NAME: Crystal
AGE: 190 (Juvenile/Young Adult)
GENDER:
Female
BREED: Iridescent Ironbeak
STANDING: Wild (For now)
ORIGINS:
Being born an albino, she was faced with challenges others never had. She was abandoned by her mother almost immediately after birth, thinking she would be killed in her first hours of life.
Unknown to her mother though, Crystal had survived the night by finding a small cave. Inside the cave, was a lone, female Monstrous Nightmare
This dragon's name was Aqua, because of her strange likeness for water. When spotting Crystal, she almost attacked out of defense of her territory, but relaxed when the young dragon cried out for help.
Aqua had never had young of her own, but she took in Crystal anyway, knowing no one else would. Aqua was the one who named her Crystal too, and the young dragon grew up believing Aqua was her mother.
Through the years, Crystal became accustomed to hunting at night, and sleeping during the day. Since Aqua was her foster mother, she also came to like water. This is why she swims every so often to regulate her body temperature.
The two soon became inseparable. One day, Aqua was attacked by another nightmare, and wounded to the point were she could no longer defend herself. Crystal had heard Aqua's attacker from the lake she was swimming in, and ran to help.
When she found her mother, the attacker readied to pounce onto Aqua. Crystal shot out of the bushes, and ran into the enemy's side with her head, giving them deep cuts from her cheek horns.
While the enemy was stunned, Crystal rose up on her two hind legs, and attacked them using her front limbs.
This ultimately frightened the attacker, and they flew into the air.
Aqua's wounds healed quickly, but when she was bed-ridden for a few weeks, Crystal nursed her back to health.
Crystal lived with Aqua for another 20 years, until her foster mother became sick. She cared for Aqua for every day she was sick. She even went out in the sunlight to gather food for her, And whenever another dragon came near, she attacked almost unprovoked. Aqua's last day was painful, for both of them. On her deathbed, Aqua told Crystal to find someone who would care for her.
A few days after her death, Crystal finally left the cave she grew up in.
She traveled from place to place everyday; trying to find the perfect home. She shied away from others of her kind, but became friends with a few nightmares and gronkles.
When she came across a mother night fury and her young, her curiosity got the better of her. She got too close, and the night fury attacked. Before she knew what had happened, she blacked out onto the ground.
When she awoke, she immediately noticed she couldn't see out of her left eye. She found a small pond, and found that her face bled from her ears, down to her nose, running across her eyes. The night fury had completely destroyed her left eye, and wounded the right. So now she could only see blurry images from her right side.
From that point on, she completely avoided others, preferring to stay to herself. Whenever she bumped into another dragon, she takes flight, whether day or night, and finds a more safe place to land. On one occasion, she was cornered and forced to defend herself. This was one of the few times she'd breathed fire in her life.
And in those years of being alone, she trained her hearing to an extent where she could close her eyes, snap her jaws together every few seconds, and walk without hitting anything. (Unless you count sudden Terrors jumping out of nowhere) She'll only run when she's in an open field.
She'd met humans before, but paid them barely any attention, as if they were mere tiny terrors squabbling on who got to eat first.
Although, she did encounter a young girl alone in the middle of the forest once. She was just sitting atop a rock, staring into the trees in front of her.
When Crystal moved closer to investigate, the girl's head turned to her movement. Crystal froze to the spot, and watched as the human girl hopped off the rock. The dragon flew away when another human came into view behind the girl.
Crystal still regards humans like any other creature, but seems to be curious of their habits, and why they act differently than dragons.
LIKES:
Winter (Because it's the season she gets the most food)
Caves (Or other dark, cold places)
Lying in the middle of a stream an letting the water flow over her (Cools her down during Summer)
Listening to nature. (Running water, birds, etc.)
Swimming (For a short periods of time)
Younger Dragons (Hatchlings- Juveniles)
DISLIKES:
Trees/Other objects in her way (Bumps into them a LOT)
Running (But she can run fast if she wanted to)
Flying (Unless at night)
Humid/Hot weather
Fighting
Terrible Terrors (Doesn't everyone)
STRENGTHS:
Really Good Hearing. She Uses a type of echolocation to find her way around most of the time. She snaps her jaws to make a loud knock that echoes through the area. (She usually does this every few seconds as she walks)
Agility / Reflexes (Her reaction time is fast. The moment she snaps her jaws, she takes in the 'snapshot' she reacts almost immediately. However, if she doesn't snap her jaws, she won't be able to see any fast movements on her right side.
Sharp Claws / Beak
Blends in perfectly with freshly fallen snow
WEAKNESSES:
Her Albinism
Her left blind eye/ Weak right eye
Limited strength/ defense
Her fear of the sun gives her a harder time to hunt for food, so she has to hunt at night
FEARS:
The Sun
Most Other Dragons (Mostly Night furies)
Dying alone (Without finding someone who'll accept her for who she is)
Meeting her real parents
OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Crystal's anti-social to avoid any unnecessary fights. She roams the landscape at night to do so, but unfortunately, doing so only increases the chances of being attacked by other, night-dwelling species.
Her curiosity and caution balance each other out. On one hand, she'll investigate anything mysterious, but she'll do so from a distance. In her mind, it's better safe than sorry. She had learned that the hard way.
When forced to be around other dragons, she hides her true self. She pretends to be stronger than she really is. She has to. If she doesn't, she'll be the next prey for a predator. Only Aqua knows her real personality.
When she was with Aqua, she was like any other confident young dragon; thinking she could beat anyone who came her way. She cared for Aqua just as much as she would if she was her real mother.
And she also proved that she would protect those she cares about with more force than necessary.
Most of the time she's alone, she daydreams of a perfect home. A friend who cares for her just as she does for them. Or a mate and her hatchlings running around; playing with each other.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Crystal was born an Albino, so she has white, colorless scales, and wing webbing
She is about 8 1/2 feet when standing on all fours, and 20 feet from head to tail. (Long tail)
Wing span is about 25 feet wide
Red Eyes (One left blind, and the other wounded.)
Has a scar running down each side of her face, but her right side isn't as noticeable as the left, as most of it's healed over.
She has a few small tears on her outer webbing and scratches on her body from running into trees and bushes
ABILITIES:
Flies during the night, and prefers to walk during the day (beneath the cover of the trees)
Rarely breathes fire.
Can swim better than most others of her kind
Her sharp, strong beak for crushing hard foods, or biting an attacker
Her beak also helps her 'see' in a way. She snaps her jaws together, creating a loud 'knock' that echoes of the trees and surrounding area. Using this noise, she makes her way around trees (But tis noise can usually give away her position to predators.)
Her kind are good runners, but Crystal exceeds the average speed (But she'll hit almost anything in her way when she does)

OOC NAME TO CALL YOU:
Crystal
RP EXAMPLE: (I couldn't really think of a good situation, but this is most likely the first time she meets her future rider)
-
With the sun setting in the distance, Crystal emerged from her small cave, and stretched her limbs. Sleeping all day gave her all the energy she needed to hunt for the night.
She snapped her jaws together to create a dull 'knock'. This noise jumped from tree to tree; giving her a better 'view' of her surroundings.
She walked towards the stream nearby, hearing crickets and frogs the closer she got. As usual, Crystal lied in the middle of the small stream. She sighed contently, and rolled to her side.
When she heard the crumpling of leaves behind her, she froze.
Her ears pricked to the distant noise trying to pinpoint it. She turned and searched for the source, but found none.
With her curiosity winning over caution, she climbed out of the stream, and began to walk towards the direction the sound came from. It was about half a mile until Crystal noticed the area smelt of humans. Trying to stay hidden, Crystal slowly moved behind a nearby bush.
There was a very small village ahead of her. Only about 5 human houses. Crystal tried to squint through her right eye to see the human nests better, but to no avail. All she saw were blurs.
Crystal was about to dismiss the noise she'd heard earlier as one of the humans and go back to her den, but when a small yelp sounded from her left, she crouched down to a defensive position.
It was only a young girl who had tripped on a rock. Apparently, she had tried to catch herself before her face hit the ground, but in doing so, her palms were scratched.
So far, the girl hadn't noticed Crystal yet, so the dragon tried to sneak away. But by instinct, Crystal snapped her jaws for an echo. She growled at giving her position away. However, the girl remained calm, and began to get to her feet.
'Why didn't she notice me? Surely human's hearing can't be that bad?'
Crystal knew she should have left the girl, but her curiosity won over again. The girl winced when she tried to stand, and leaned against a nearby tree for support. She lifted the clothing covering her right leg, and yelped as she saw her blood.
It may not have been that bad of a cut, but just enough blood so it trickled down her leg. She whimpered and called out for another human, but being this time of night, no one heard her.
Crystal may have regarded humans just like terrible terrors, but when a young one was hurt, she couldn't resist comforting it.
Cautiously, Crystal emerged from her hiding spot. She heard the girl's breathing stop. That was when Crystal smelt the warm, rusty smell coming from the girl's leg. Crystal snapped her jaws to see if anyone else was coming for the girl, but they were still alone.
The girl tried to take a few steps away from the dragon, but fell as she did so. Crystal realized the girl was afraid, but she continued to get closer. Backing into another tree, the girl whimpered again.
Crystal's breathing was swaying the girl's hair back and forth, and the girl froze to the spot. The dragon heard a sudden yelling from her right, and turned her head to find out why.
'They're probably trying to find her'
The girl had gasped, making Crystal turn her head back. The girl didn't seem as frightened as before. In fact, the girl was reaching out to touch Crystal's face. More precisely, the side that held her worst scars. Crystal growled at the girl, but she continued to reach her hand closer. The moment her hand touched the dragon's face, she smiled. Crystal was too busy investigating the girl's leg to react.
Seeing as there was too much much blood to see the actual wound, the dragon gently ran her tongue across the girl's cut, and cleaned it off. Luckily, the cut wasn't deep at all, and was already sealing itself.
When the other human sounds got closer, Crystal rose her head and spotted the blurs of humans in her eye. She quickly dashed in the opposite direction, but not before slamming into the side of a tree first.
She was dazed, yes, but she kept going. Before she hit another tree, she flew in to the air. It wasn't until she made her way back to her den that she slowed down.
'Note to self: Make sure there are no trees before running.'
