The bitterly cold sky was almost clear; few clouds dotted the brilliant blue that arced over Toothless’ Forest. A thin mist curled lazily around the tall pine trees like thin, pearly white dragons, breathing their steamy breaths. All was quiet, albeit the delicate sound of song-birds. Quiet, until a snowy white dragon twirled down from the sky like a falling icicle, before pulling up suddenly with a kind of victory hoot.
With eyes like icy flames, Frostbite soared upwards through the frigid sky with flourish, Sindre laughing and whooping ecstatically on her back. “Yeeaaah!” she shouted out in excitement, punching the air enthusiastically with her free hand (the other one was clinging desperately to Frostbite’s neck). “C’mon! Do a roll; just once more!”
Frostbite replied with a small, yet happy roar, before curling slowly backwards, creating an arc with her glittering, white scaled body. Beating her wings to propel herself upwards, the Polar Serpent curved backwards in the fastest loop as she could, beating her pale duck egg blue wings slightly. Sindre whooped in ecstasy as Frostbite finished the roll and accelerated forwards with a few strong beats of her wings. “Ok…ok, that’s enough!” Sindre panted slightly, a wide grin still plastered on her rosy face. Frostbite let out a grumbling moan, whining at the sudden end to her fun. “No…no! I’m serious; I’m dying from laughing too much up here…” Sindre continued, laughing a bit more as Frostbite let out a complaining warble as she slowed down into a shallow dive, grumbling all the way. Soon, the icy dragon fell into a sharp dive, flying down through a hole in the forests canopy. As soon as she alighted on the soft ground, making tendrils of mist swirl like angry snakes, Sindre hopped off and stretched her slightly aching legs in contentment. A small cloud of pine needles drifted down from where Frostbite had dived down, and the brown-and-blonde haired girl breathed in the fresh, peaceful smell. Frostbite let out a sudden, loud, and echoing victory roar, standing tall with her chest puffed out.
“Yeah, yeah, I know you were brilliant but you don’t have to brag to the whole forest!” Sindre rolled her eyes at the polar serpent, who grumbled, but then suddenly stopped. She stared at Sindre with smirking snake-like eyes and let out a growling laugh. “….what? Heh, no seriously, what is it…?” The dragon carelessly shrugged her gleaming shoulders, but continued to blatantly smirk. Sindre found herself giggling with her, before spotting an iced over pool a few meters away. With a overdramatic, dignified ‘hmmph!’, whe strolled over to the glistening body of water. Parting the rough, frosty green pond reeds, she leaned over to look at her reflection. “Oh,” she muttered. Her hair, which was normally quite erratic anyway, looked like a hedgehog that had been struck by lightning. “Yeah, yeah, real funny.”

& I WAKE UP EVERY EVENING WITH A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE ( and it never seems out of place ) Summer had started off the day good. Of course, as soon as she walked outside, Fireworm stood there with her leather that held Summer in already strapped onto her back. Summer smiled and shook her head and the big dragon. She walked over and reached out to pet the dragons face. ”So you want to fly do you?” She laughed as Fireworm shook her head in a big manner as Summer hopped up on her back. She put her legs in the leather and strapped them down so they wouldn’t come loose. She could fly any way she just like the extra safe precaution.
As if knowing that Summer was all ready, the multi-colored dragon pushed off the ground and soon they were gliding through the air. When Fireworm banked to the left, Summer knew they were flying towards Toothless’ Forest. She smiled, remembering her first time flying over the forest and smelling the forestry scent from above. It always smelt so much better from the back of a dragon. When she saw a white dragon and girl go through the canopy, Summer pointed towards it and Fireworm started beating her wings a bit faster so that they could catch up to the Polar Serpent. When they reached the same spot the white dragon had gone into, Fireworm did the same. She pulled up just in time to make a graceful landing on the grass.
Summer hopped of her dragon and couldn’t help but stifle a laugh. The girl’s hair looked hilarious. But Summer tried to keep a straight composure so as to not make the girl feel uncomfortable. Fireworm on the other hand couldn’t help but snicker once before putting on a smirk grin. ”It looks like your having a hair emergency there.” Summer said not meaning to sound mean by it, but just wanting to start a small conversation. ”By the way, I’m Summer and this is Fireworm.” She said as she pointed to her Monstrous Nightmare when she said Fireworm’s name. Upon hearing her name, the dragon nodded her head once as a greeting.

Combing her long fingers jaggedly through her hair, trying in vain to straighten out the fluffy mass, Sindre yawned and stared dreamily into the forest. As she shifted into a more comfortable position, Frostbite let out a grumbling warble and shifted uneasily as a fiery red-orange Monstrous Nightmare swooped deftly into the forest’s clearing, landing gracefully despite its lack of forearms.
At that, Sindre scrambled to her feet and swivelled around to face the now-smirking dragon and it’s calm, in comparison, rider. “It looks like your having a hair emergency there.” said the partially unidentified rider (she had figured out she was from berk). “Heh, yeah – it always gets like this; I should have tied it up really,” Sindre blushed slightly, smiling in embarrassment and fidgeting slightly on the spot. The one thing that made her hair fluff up more than flying was swimming: two of her favourite things to do.
Frostbite had resumed a more relaxed position and blew smoke rings lazily to amuse herself as introductions started to be passed around. The older Viking introduced herself as Summer, and her Monstrous Nightmare as Fireworm. “Oh, hello, I’m Sindre and this is Frostbite.” She smiled slightly and gestured roughly to Frostbite who grumbled slightly in greeting, examining the new-comers more closely with her icy blue snake-like eyes.
Sindre moved from the icy pond, pushing her way back through the frosted reeds. Summer had quite a small build: she appeared quite young and almost fragile, but Sindre believed that she was older than what she seemed. Fireworm was more strong in build, like most Nightmares, and was also very big. Her scaled body was laced with quite dark reds and fiery oranges with the customary black stripes and, in some cases, spots that decorated her bright body and wings. The two seemed to be, in a way, opposites to Sindre. Whereas Summer had a smaller frame, her dragon was huge, bright and bold in appearance.
“You must fly a lot,” Sindre spoke absent-mindedly, admiring Fireworm’s flight muscles. “I never knew Nightmares could land so gracefully. No offence, of course.” She added on quickly, glancing apologetically at Fireworm.
Notes: I hope I got Fireworm's description right, I just based it off of the one on your profile :u

She looked at the snow white dragon as the girl, who she found out was Sindre, as Summer and Fireworm were keyed in on their names. She nodded and smiled. ”She’s pretty. If you are a she? If not sorry about that.” She said as she guessed the gender of the Polar Serpent. She looked back to Sindre as the girl spoke once more.
She put glanced at her dragon looking where Sindre looked and a little surprise passed through her face since she hardly could tell there was muscle. She took that though, as the fact that she always saw her dragon so everything seemed normal to her. ”Well we do I guess. At least once in the morning and once at night is what we try for. And I think the gracefulness just came from landing so often. She figured out that she could help use the claws on the tips of her wings to come down softer.” Fireworm lifted her wings at this and wiggled her claws around as if giving Sindre a better view of what she could do with them.

“Yeah, Frostbite’s a she,” Sindre verified, rolling her eyes at Frostbite who curled her tail happily at being called pretty. “She’s such a show-off though, so please don’t encourage her.” At that, the Polar Serpent sniffed grumbled indignantly and jabbed at Sindre’s ankles with her icy, forked tail. In response, she simply shuffled away from Frostbite’s tail range and switched her attention back to Summer and Fireworm, who was now stretching out her pretty, yet intimidating wings.
“Yeah, I didn’t think of that,” Sindre commented when Summer explained her routine and how her dragon landed, examining the contrasting black stripes on Fireworm’s wings. Despite them being called the prettiest dragons, she believed that Deadly Nadders did not have the appeal that Monstrous Nightmares had in looks. The generally fiery looks of Nightmares, combined with the contrasting black markings looked more dynamic and interesting to Sindre, compared to the Deadly Nadder’s generally complimentary colours of blue and yellow.
“Hey, um, this might seem really sudden, but do you mind if we have a race? I’m trying to improve Frostbite’s speed.” Sindre started suddenly, eyes snapping back to Summer. That was what she had come out for in the first place, to improve on Frostbite’s flying skills and speed. At the mention of flying, the white and teal hinted dragon looked up in interest, suddenly coiling her tail around restlessly and breathing smoke thinly through her nostrils.

Once Sindre verified the gender of the Polar Serpent and then said that she is a show-off and she shouldn't encourage her Summer laughed. "That's how this girl is with my friends. But really only with them. other people can say she looks beautiful and she just blatantly ignores them." When Summer said this, Fireworm picked up her head and turned it towards Summer with a slight glare. Summer just smiled at her dragon and leaned on her a bit as if swaying and then Fireworm's glare went away and in replace a bit of a smile came into play. Since Summer had been looking at her dragon, she didn't see Frostbite poke Sindre with her tail, but when she looked back to the two and saw that Sindre was further away from her dragon, she perked her eyebrows but said nothing.
She looked more in detail at the snow white dragon and thought that it should be fast for its body structure, but when Sindre said she was trying to improve her dragons speed, Summer smiled. She had been through that phase. Yes, it was easy to improve it, if you had the time to be flying all the time. It took a lot of hard work outs for dragons to become better and faster fliers. So, when she heard the word race, it was no surprise to her. She looked at Frostbite who all of a sudden looked very interested in their conversation, and then to her own dragon who had smiled a bit more and looked at Summer hopefully. Summer smiled at both of the dragons eagerness before walking over to Fireworm's side and jumping onto the dragons back. Knowing that Summer's answer was yes, Fireworm shook her body a bit showing her excitement. They hadn't raced another dragon in a long time and both didn't know what the outcome would be.
"Well, seeing that their hopes are already raised, I wouldn't want to say no to two happy dragons. you never know what can happen if you upset one, she said patting Fireworm's neck. The Nightmare let her body erupt in the liquid fire coat for a minute before shaking again the the coat fell off of her. "See, a show-off." She said with a laugh. She nudged Fireworm to have her walk over to Sindre. Once they were next to the other two, she pulled a leather strap out of her pocket. She handed it to Sindre before talking again. "Here, for your hair so you can see when we are flying." She said with a smile. She took off into the air and had Fireworm hover there until Sindre came up to meet them. Once Sindre was there, Summer looked at her before speaking. "So, where from and where too?" TAGGED: Sindre TURN IT UP! IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME TO NOTES: Who do you want to win?! Sindre laughed slightly when Summer explained that her dragon was almost the same as Frostbite in terms of pride. “I wish that was the same case with Frostbite,” she smiled with a shrug, which the Polar Serpent decided to ignore, possibly because she had already taken to watching the birds hungrily as they hopped about in the higher branches of the trees. Although she much preferred fish, the small hopping creatures were fun to chase and made wonderful early-morning snacks.
As Summer jumped onto the back of her dragon, Sindre bounded swiftly over to hers, who had suddenly stood up, smoke drifting from her nostrils. She had taken the fact that Summer had mounted onto her dragon as a yes to her offer of a race, and grinned thankfully at her. “Ah, thank you!” she smiled, and then wondered about where the race could be to. However, her attention was quickly diverted to Fireworm, who had now set herself alight with a flickering, liquid-looking fire, which looked truly magnificent. “…wow,” Sindre breathed shortly after the Nightmare shook off the fire, which, in consistency, reminded her of Frostbite’s. The Polar Serpent looked disdainfully at Fireworm, and probably would have rolled her eyes.
When Summer started to guide her dragon over to her, Sindre started to think of strategies, as well as a location to fly to. “Oh, thanks,” she said, slightly dreamily as Summer handed her a leather strap. As she tied up her hair, Fireworm launched herself into the sky and came to hover over the pine trees, scattering beautifully-scented needles down to the small clearing. Frostbite gave herself a quick stretch, crouching down like a cat, before following Fireworm’s lead and leaping into the air to join the Nightmare. At Summer’s question of the direction of the race, Sindre examined her surroundings, beating away her billowing breath to get a clear view. Not so long away, she could see a small cliff: crumbling, but it looked safe enough to jump from. “From that cliff,” she responded to Summer, pointing roughly towards it. “To the edge of the forest; heading towards the mountains? Is that ok?” From her position on Frostbite, she could just see the mountains in the distance, grey teeth towering out of the ground. The path she had chosen was pretty bumpy: the forest was laced with cliffs and canyons.

Summer looked at Sindre as she tied up her hair and then flew up above the trees to join herself and Fireworm. The way Frostbite had jumped off the ground made Summer and Fireworm give a little snort. The dragon had looked like a cat. They hadn’t seen that since the first time the hatchlings had been born and were trying to figure out lift off. Usually dragons grew out of it, but it seemed like this on liked doing it. When Sindre and Frostbite were at speaking level, and Sindre answered her earlier question, Summer nodded. ”That seems like a good race.” Summer nudged Fireworm with her knee, turning her slightly so that they could fly over to the cliff. As they flew, they tried to just relax. Nerves and jitters could get the best out of anyone. Of course they were nervous, but if they stayed calm they could have a chance of winning. Calmness meant a clear head. Clear head equaled faster reactions to things that just pop up out of nowhere. Their thoughts both drifted to their first race. They hadn’t been in the air too much before that since Summer was still in her “in-training” program. The race had ended badly. Both she and her dragon had fallen out of the air from hitting a tree. No one had been seriously hurt, but they hadn’t been seen for awhile after that. They both shook themselves from their memories as they arrived at the cliff. It was big enough for both dragons to get a good liftoff/push-off for an extra lead. So, Fireworm made herself a spot and clamped her wings and feet on the edge of the cliff. Her head looking straight forward, as did her eyes as she awaited Summer’s little nudge to get started. They watched as Sindre and Frostbite took a spot next to them then Summer looked over. ”On your count we go.” She said with a smile. She leaned over Fireworm her head close to her dragons neck. She looked over at Sindre nodding that she was ready we she was. (Word count: 351) ((Summer takes racing seriously XD so you should post the race and stuff and I post the ending? Like you can take control of Fireworm but leave the ending to me and I will take control of Frostbite? Nothing big just that your in lead and we pass you for my next. For your probably something how we messed up when we started and didn’t get as good of a pushoff as you? Idk whatever as long as mine don’t get hurt XD btw sorry for this late reply track and getting college stuff took all of my time away ))

With a shallow, turning dive, Frostbite fell in behind Fireworm as she started to fly over to the cliff. The snowy white dragon, with a few flaps of her bat-like wings sped up to break away from the fiery lizard’s air path and slowly manoeuvre her icier body to the Nightmare’s left side. Being careful not to clip wings, she stopped speeding up and instead soared forwards on the thermals, lazily beating her huge wings every now and again to keep momentum. Taking the more laid-back flying session to relax, Sindre leaned more heavily on her dragon’s long, scaly neck and watched the blur of pine-green below streak past as the pair flew over the range of frosted trees. After the much more exhilarating ride earlier, it was nice to just settle down, even if it was only for a short period of time. And even then, it was hard to relax when her first proper race was coming up. A mixture of nerves and excitement fluttered around in Sindre as she glanced at her opponents as they neared the cliff. Nightmare’s were known for their battle skills over their flying skills; they didn’t seem to be the most aero-dynamic beasts. But underestimating an opponent was never a good idea.
As Frostbite swooped down to land, Sindre once again looked at Summer and Fireworm to see if she was ready. The two seemed lost in thought, but that look didn’t last, for as soon as the Polar Serpent touched down, the older girl was ready. Nerves growing, Sindre smiled warily at Frostbite as she cast a sly look back to the girl. “Alright then. Three…” Frostbite shifted her position on the crumbly rock face. “Two…” Fireworm crouched down and placed one clawed foot in front of the other. “One, go!” Sindre finished, flattening herself to the frosty dragon’s back as she launched herself forwards with a cat-like pounce. With a crack, the Polar Serpent’s wings whipped out to their full length as she soared through the air with a good start. Along with the crack came the crumbling of loose rock which caused Sindre to cast a quick glance back to Summer. With her launch-off, Fireworm had loosened the rugged edge of the cliff, making her slip slightly as she spread out her fiery wings. The boldly coloured dragon had fallen slightly, and although she had quickly regained her flight with a large beat of her wings, had already fallen behind Frostbite who was strongly beating her wings to make the most of the stumble.
At first, Sindre was unsure of what to think of the false-start; if her and Frostbite won now, would it really be a fair race? A warbling sound from the serpent dragon’s throat snapped her to her senses as she pressed herself into the cold scales in front of her. It was too late now; the race had begun. Gripping onto her accelerating dragon’s neck, Sindre started to help the Polar Serpent’s progress as she quickly scanned the surroundings. A swerve to the right, avoiding an emerging pine tree that blocked her path, beat wings more as the forest gained a higher altitude…it wasn’t much, but a few nudges allowed the speeding dragon to focus on her speed more than her dodging skills. Steep drop in forest’s height, fold in wings to gain speed, and swoop! Now spread wings as the forest levels.
As she got in rhythm with Frostbite, Sindre almost forgot about the Nightmare which was silently coming up from behind. By the time she had quickly looked back to check on the status of her, the red and orange dragon had started to creep up on her right side. Mouth agape slightly in surprise, Sindre dug her knees into the Polar Serpent’s sides to alert her of the upcoming adversary. With a puff of ashy blue smoke from her nose, Frostbite beat her wings faster to streak forwards, trying to get away from Fireworm and Summer as they came into the back of her vision. Folding in her wings, the wintery dragon swooped around a particularly tall tree before slapping open her wings to gain more altitude and ride the thermals again. The immediate threat of the rival team overtaking was gone, but Sindre realised she needed to be more careful. Hugging herself to Frostbite’s lithe body, the young Viking tried to seek out any warmth in the dragon’s body. The frosty air, despite her protection against it, was starting to bite at her. The Polar Serpent, unsurprisingly, gave out no warmth, her cold ice-like scales making matters worse.
As the edge of the frosty forest came into sight, Sindre started to relax slightly. She knew to look out for danger, and knew the race wasn’t won yet, but Frostbite was blocking the way for Fireworm to overtake. As the white serpent easily swerved around a tree, a large crow fluttered away from a nearby pine with a loud cawing cry. The black bird streaked through Frostbite’s line of vision and, attention diverted, the distracted dragon’s vision didn’t pick up an upcoming tree. Crack. The Polar Serpent’s wing clipped the end of a branch and, although it wasn’t much, forced the dragon to fold in her wings and avoid the rest of the branch. Instantaneously, Summer made the most of the slip-up and quickly came into Sindre’s line of vision. The fiery dragon had already swooped by Frostbite's side...
((xD Yup, that's fine with me. ouo Hope this is what you meant! And that's okay, work dragged me down for a while as well. I'll be a bit busy for a while again soon, but I should be able to reply within a few days))

As soon as Sindre said one Summer felt Fireworm give a strong push as the dragon went to flap open its wings with the push. The push was a little too hard though as Summer found Fireworm stumble and sort of slip/slide of the rock. Fireworm let out an apologetic rumble but Summer just patted her neck and said back, ”It’s fine girl. We still got this.” Of course by the time Fireworm had regained her balance the two they were racing against were already far ahead of her. Summer felt Fireworm’s wings pushing them though the air as her dragon pushed harder and harder with each flap. Summer leaned low against her dragons neck and as she did, her body became flat against her dragon. Her head leaned to the right a little bit so that she could make sure nothing was coming up that would cause them more hurt to the race. She straightened herself back down as Fireworm lowered her head so her body was as straight as an arrow.
Summer knew it was a fair race even though they got a bad start. Things like that happened and she hoped Sindre wasn’t focusing too much on that. As she saw a tree come into view, she pulled up on one of Fireworm’s spikes and instantly the dragon propelled itself up and forward. The Nightmare’s claws trimmed the top of the tree and a couple leaves fell down. The higher altitude gave them les resistance as Fireworm pushed herself more and more through the air. Seeing the Sindre was in her view, Summer pushed down on her dragons neck and her dragon folded in her wings and dived right next to her. The wings flapped out at the last second with a loud snap.
Summer smiled as Sindre had turned and looked at her. Of course they were surprised. Although Monstrous Nightmare was huge, her wings propelled her fast through the air. They swooped on the opposite side of the tree and Fireworm glared slightly as the Polar Serpent sped up. As an effect she did the same. Her one wing beats equaled about 3 of the Serpents, but she increased them so they were almost the same. Summer was comfortable exactly where she was. Though the wind was like a cold slap in the face, the heat her dragon radiated made her forget about the cold. The warmth would spread to her face as she lowered her head next to her dragon. Even though a lot was radiated, the balance of cold wind made the heat not unbearable.
Summer noticed that Sindre’s body posture seemed to relax. ’She thinks she has the lead, and will win.’
But as the ease came into Sindre she saw her no notice a tree that had come up. Summer had made Fireworm go up and over it and as a bird came into view, Summer turned Fireworm back down. Bird and tree averted, they made the most of the slip-up that Sindre and Frostbite had gone though. She smiled as Fireworm came alongside of Frostbite. She was sure the heat given off could probably reach Sindre for that quick second. A second later, Fireworm pushed harder one last time and swerved right in front of Frostbite. Summer hadn’t told Fireworm to do that so she glanced back and mouthed a sorry as she turned back around she saw the edge was only a few yards away. She leaned low against Fireworm and said softly, ”Now!” She felt her dragon gather up all her strength and really propel them towards the finish. As soon as they won, her dragon flew out a ways before coming back. A sudden stop at the speed they were going at the last second could be harmful to both Summer and herself which is why she allowed her wings to slow down before stopping. When they came back to the finish line Summer looked over at Sindre. ”I was worried there for a second. Both when you were beating me and lost control for that moment.” She said with a smile happy that she got a victory. [/blockquote][/blockquote] Tagged ?!
