“HELP!!!” Varin shouted at the top of his lungs but he doubted anyone would hear him. He knew it was a mistake straying from fishing; he wasn’t exactly what one would consider a great hunter. This fact now ever so apparent even to him, considering Varin was now caught in his own trap. Things just seemed not to be going his way lately, he had been hanging from his own trap for almost an hour because he had dropped his dagger so he couldn’t cut himself down and Wavebreaker was at the house napping. On top of that the sun was setting even lower so he could be there for who knows how long. Sure it sounded like a great idea at the time but then again doesn’t every terrible plan start out that way? He was just hoping that his cries would be heard by another Viking rather than a hungry dragon. But at this point what else could he do but wait and try to get people to hear him. He was sure his face was bright red from all the blood flowing down to his head, Varin could even feel the heat radiating from the blood rush. He tried to sit up slightly to keep from passing out but after a while he didn’t have any energy from lack of food. In his mind he kept hoping someone would come to his aide soon, even more so wondering if perhaps they had something to eat with them.

Fleta flicked a small black ear as she scratched under her chin much like a dog would. The day had been long and boring like most, nothing unusual happening to distinguish it from any other day. She got up and stretched, opening her wide maw in a yawn before shaking her head. It was about time to go for her evening patrol around her territory, and as she set off into the trees she couldn't help but hope to find something interesting. Or at least something good to eat.
As Fleta neared the edge of her territory closest to Berk she looked up in curiousity. She stopped for a moment, listening. After a moment the sound came again. The dragon made a face that could only translate into "Are you serious?" as she tilted her head, trying to pinpoint where the sound was coming from exactly. To her exasperation it was coming from deeper in her territory. She turned and trudged towards the noise, wondering who it was in her territory and what they had gotten themselves into.
It didn't take long for Fleta to find the source of the noise, a blonde young human suspended in the air by his ankle. She kept her distance for a while, circling him in the trees curiously. His face was bright red as he thrashed about and dangled. Still she kept his distance from him, unsure if her being close would scare him and cause him to try and hurt her. She stepped out of the cover of the trees cautiously, her lips drawn back slightly in a silent snarl. She couldn't hear or smell any other humans around, and quickly relaxed a bit when she noticed the dagger on the ground, deeming the young human harmless.
Fleta stalked around him, pointing her nose in his direction to smell him better. Her ice blue eyes met his green ones, narrowing them slightly. "I don't know if you can speak dragon, but what are you doing here small human child?"[/b][/i] She stood in front of him and looked him over as she waited for an answer. She had no desire to eat him, but he didn't need to know that yet.

Varin could feel the icy sting of eyes leering at him through the woods. It had almost grown dark now in the forest with the last bit of light dwindling away by the seconds and the young Viking in training could only see a limited area in front of him but he was sure that something was lurking just out of sight. “So this is how it ends” he muttered to himself “Food for some wild creature.” Then, from the dark shadows emerged what appeared to be a really hairy horse. But on second glance Varin noticed the more dragon like details that really sent a shiver down his spine. It didn’t help any that the dragon was all snarled up like it had found something tasty to munch on which prompted the thought “Yup, I’m done for.” Strangely though the dragon eased up and seemed to relax, especially after seeing the dagger lying on the ground completely out of reach from Varin. Finally, the odd dragon spoke but all Varin could think was “Thank Odin I took the time to learn dragonesse!” Varin noticed though that the dragon had that look in her eyes as if to say “Choose your words wisely because they could be your last.”
After a little time to collect his thoughts and choke down whatever fear was left he replied back. “I MEAN YOU AND OTHER DRAGONS OF THIS FOREST NO HARM, I WAS ONLY OUT TRYING TO GET FOOD FOR ME AND MY FRIEND WHO UHH JUST HAPPENS NOT TO BE HERE AT THE MOMENT.” After he got all that out he realized in retrospect that he may have been shouting. So he did a quick follow up “IM SO SOrry for the shouting.” This was more yelling which trailed off into a muttered whisper. He only hoped had said the right thing to possibly get this dragon’s aide. Sadly he knew that he would be indebted to this dragon if she saved him though.

Fleta flinched back when the human shouted, her sensitive ears folding against her head and her lips curling into a snarl. She was tempted to slap a paw over his mouth to shut him up, but before she could even decide the shouting suddenly trailed into a whisper. Her scaly brow furrowed at the mention of him having a friend, glancing around as if she expected a stranger to come bursting through the trees at her. She got a bit closer to the human and snorted in his face, ruffling his hair. "You should be. You're lucky I don't eat humans. So where is this 'friend'? Should they not be with you?"[/i][/b]
Fleta sat on her rump and looked at the human boy a few feet away from her. "You are very rude for not introducing yourself after invading my territory. Tell me, how long does it take for a human's skull to pop from being like that?"[/i][/b] She asked. Her expression turned amused as she watched the boy struggle. She cocked her head and leaned closer to him, smelling his fear. Her tail flicked as she waited for an answer, debating on whether she should help him or leave him to squirm and faint.

Varin watched as the dragon crept closer to him and when she began to ask him questions, uneasiness swept over him. “Would she really leave me like this?” he thought. At least she said she wouldn’t eat him, which made the young Viking feel slightly better. His ears were beginning to ring now from the head rush of staying upside down so he figured he’d better comply with whatever the dragon ask of him as well as answer any questions. “Oh what a wonderful Viking I’m turning out to be.” He muttered under his breath. “My name is Varin and I mean you no disrespect, I did not know that this was your territory.” He tried to say as politely as possible. “No need to be alarmed about my friend, he is most likely still napping at my house. He’s pretty lazy at times and isn’t one to go hunting and apparently I’m not either, given my current state.” Varin realized he seemed to be babbling now and decided it best that he stay quiet until the dragon asked another question or released him. On top of that his stomach was growling extremely loud and his thoughts kept drifting back to food.

Fleta flicked an ear in amusement at the young viking, eyeing him curiously. "No, apparently not."[/i][/b] Her ears perked when she heard Varin's stomach growl, her brow furrowing slightly before she realized where the sound was coming from. Varin didn't seem to be doing so well, and Fleta wasn't sure how much longer the boy would last before going unconscious. The white dragon pushed herself onto her hind legs and coughed a few times, suddenly hacking a large wad of corrosive slime onto the rope, far enough away from his leg that it wouldn't dribble onto his foot or leg and hurt him. She watched as it slowly fizzed and bubbled before finally snapping, sending the viking straight to the ground with a fairly painful sounding thud. Fleta smirked and fell back onto all fours, landing hard on the solid ground. She stepped back a few paces and looked at him curiously.
Fleta grabbed the end of the rope and chewed through it, tossing the still sizzling material away so he wouldn't accidentally touch it. Although the acid had little more than a tingling sensation to her, she had seen many times what it does to others that are not protected from it. It was never pleasant, and she didn't feel like being yelled at again. Fleta waited for the boy to recover from the fall and from being upside down for Odin knows how long, cocking her head slightly and pawing at the ground.

Varin hit the ground with a loud thud, but at least he was relieved to finally be rid of that awful ringing in his ears. He laid on the cold ground for a few moments to get his bearings together before he took any action. Finally he sat up right and stared at the dragon only a few paces in front of him who chewed through the remaining rope before tossing it aside. “Thank you dragon, I’m sorry I don’t even know your name but nonetheless I am sincerely grateful for your help.” He continued adding “I owe you one, Odin only knows what would’ve happened had you not shown up.” The words ‘owe you one’ hung on Varin’s tongue like a lead weight. He was an honest young Viking and would stay true to his word no matter what but he really didn’t like the idea of owing anyone. But regardless Varin felt it only fitting since the dragon had virtually saved his life in a sense. He was now resolved to do as the dragon would ask and she seemed nice enough so he thought it wouldn’t be too bad. “So what is your name, if you don’t mind me asking.”

Fleta flicked her tail as she listened to Varin, a brow raising slightly. She didn't really have anything in mind that she could possibly want the young viking to give to her or do for her. She didn't realize she hadn't given her own name until the human asked, an amused look crossing her face. "The name my human gave me is Fleta. He has been dead for a very long time now, but I still go by that name."[/i][/b] Her expression softened slightly as she spoke of her human. Perhaps there was something he could do for her. She scratched at the ground with a claw as she thought for a moment.
"I doubt there is much you could do for me, I have no trouble hunting and there is nothing I really need. But..."[/i][/b] Fleta flicked an ear and glanced away from the viking before returning her gaze to him. "Perhaps you could tell Berk about me."[/i][/b] She sat back on her haunches and flicked a black ear, waiting for Varin's response. He had mentioned his 'friend' earlier, and probably meant a dragon. She wasn't keen on sharing a human, she hadn't even liked sharing her original human with other humans. She didn't go into detail about why she wanted to be known again in Berk, although if he asked she would answer.

Varin listened to the dragons request and let out a small sigh of relief that she didn’t ask for much. But something dawned on Varin which caught him off guard; it was the twinge of something Fleta let off as she mentioned her deceased partner. What was it? Sadness maybe or perhaps loneliness and longing. That may explain why she asked what she did but Varin didn’t feel right prying or asking about those kinds of things so he let well enough be. “That sounds reasonable enough Fleta, I shall make sure you are remembered throughout berk.” The boy stated but something kept nagging at him. It was almost like someone was pulling on his heart strings to say what was in the recesses of his mind. After a small moment of silence had passed between the two, the young Viking chirped up once more to say “Maybe I could come and visit you sometimes. If that is ok with you of course.” Varin couldn’t possibly keep another dragon, even one as nice as this, but he figured it was the least he could do to spend time with Fleta until she found what she was looking for. He knew the dragon didn’t ask for his company and maybe she never wanted to see him again for all he knew but nonetheless for Varin it was the right thing to do.
