The Caverns will tell you. (Solo)
(This is simply an Rp between two of my own characters.)
Adkynn slowly walked along the path that headed to her cousin’s house. She and Curtis decided that they were going to go out and look around the mountains to the south of Red Rock. They were in the forest not too long ago and encountered some dragons that weren’t oh-so happy that they had decided to walk right into their area. As Adkynn walked along the path she waved over to an older couple that was outside by a fence watching their livestock with happy faces. She smiled as they waved back to her; she turned her gaze forward again and came up to her cousin’s house. She knocked on the door a waited for a response. Not long after the door creaked open and Curtis’ dad stood there. Adkynn smiled and gave a small wave.
“Hey Uncle Ardan. Is Curtis ready yet?” She asked.
Ardan nodded and turned around. “Curtis, Adkynn’s here, Hurry up.” He yelled into the home.
Not long after the noise of feet were heard going down the stairs. Curtis walked out of the house and stood beside Adkynn. “We will be back before dark.” He said as he turned around with his cousin and walked off.
As they walked along the path the noise of large feet came up behind them. Curtis turned around and smiled as Slity caught up to them. He continued walking until they came into the middle of a field not too far out of the town’s sight.
“Where’s Copper?” Curtis asked as he mounted onto Slitys back.
“Oh yea.” Adkynn responded. She turned around and took a deep breath before letting out a sharp and loud whistle into the morning air. She waited before she did it again. Not long after the second attempt Copper flew over and landed beside them. He was never really too far away from Adkynn so that was helpful for her. She mounted onto his back and looked over at Curtis and gave him a nod telling him that she was ready.
Curtis responded with a nod as well and Slity started taking off into the air. Copper followed up behind him and the four of them flew off towards the mountains.
Time passed and they drew very close to the mountains. Curtis started looking around the area looking for a place to land. He smirked as he saw a small, snow covered platform not far up the mountain. He gave a hand signal over to Adkynn and flew down and landed smoothly onto the platform. Copper followed and did that same, He dug his claws into the snow as Adkynn got off his back. Curtis dismounted as well and looked around.
“Calm day I have to say.” Curtis said as he looked along the mountains.
“Mhmm... Very to be honest.” Adkynn replied as she looked at copper for a minute.
“Let’s get going then.” Curtis started walking along the side of the mountain examining the area as they went along, Most of the ground that they were walking along was kind of like a nature made path, it was; for the most part flat and clear.
“Wonder what we could find along here.” Adkynn said as Copper followed behind her. She tapped her side abit as she watched the ground below them move with them almost.
They started heading up the mountain abit, it wasn’t a problem not even for Slity and Copper. They weren’t heading up to the peak of the mountains or anything but they were a fair distance up the mountain. The air levels were only slightly thinner but it didn’t cause any problems for them.
Curtis walked along jagged rocks, gripping pine trees to help support him in more, unstable areas. Adkynn did the same and the dragons found it easier to just fly along the side and watch them.
“Im surprised our ancestors were able to go through these mountains with two hundred people in tow. It must have been difficult and I wouldn’t be surprised if anyone got hurt along the way.” Adkynn stated. Curtis agreed because it was most likely true. No one with that many people could go along these mountains with out having some sort of casualty along the way.
Time passed and as Morning turned to Noon, the sun shone brightly against the mountain. The snow almost made it blinding up here but again, they managed.
Curtis kept walking until they came to a very flat area. It was surprising. Why would their be a flat area all of the sudden. He got to his knees and moved the snow from the ground aside. The ground, it was... flat, not naturally. It was the man made kind of flat. Like a smooth piece of timber that was cut into a nicely made plank for a floor. But why would their be a Man made surface up here in the middle of the mountains.
Adkynn looked around. The only structure here was a large rock formation at the end of the surface. It was kind of like an over hang. There was a bridge that moves from the platform to the large rock face that dug into the side of the mountain. It was flat at the area where the bridge met the rock face too. It was all too strange for them.
“Hmm… it looks like a door way… or something.” Adkynn mentioned to Curtis. Curtis agreed with Adkynn and looked at her. “Should we check it out?”
Curtis again nodded his head and slowly walked over to the stone bridge; he slowly walked across and got to the rock face. He wiped away all the snow that covered the stone door. Adkynn walked over beside him and looked at the door. Curtis looked back at the dragons. “Stay here.” He said.
Adkynn gripped the side of the door and opened it up. A large gust of old, musty air flew out of the entrance, it was soon replaced with cold mountain air. Adkynn looked around the entrance with the light from outside and saw a stone torch with a compact piece of wood on the top. She took it and looked at it.
“It’s the kind of wood that burns for a really long time. Cant remember the name ugh.” Adkynn said.
Curtis laughed a little and called copper over. The nadder walked over and looked at the torch. Adkynn held it out and Copper ignited it before walking over to the platform again. Adkynn walked into the corridor and Curtis followed behind.
They slowly walked along the hallway that was punctured into the mountain. Curtis was curious on how the caverns were created. He had no clue how, or who did it. Adkynn watched the ground closely as they walked. Soon the stone walls around them disappeared and opened up into a large room. A Large stone pillar in the middle with stone bridges around the edges.
“What is this place?” Adkynn said.
Curtis walked along. “I don’t know, but watch your step. It’s a long way down.” He warned. He kicked a loose rock into the darkness and heard a large splash. “At least its water down there.”
Adkynn walked into the large platform in the middle and found a large brazier with the same wood it in. She put the torch to the would and it soon ignited into a large blaze, illuminating the entire, large cavern room they were in.
“Five different bridges to five different halls. Beside the way that we came in.” Curtis said. “I say this hall first.” He noted as he pointed to the bridge extending to a hall to the north.
They started walking and made their way along the bridge into the hall. It was filled now with the same cold air from the mountain air. Curtis smiled as they kept going along the hall. He looked along the walls and saw old rune drawings. He examined them as they walked along.
When they reached a small circular room, Adkynn lit two standing torches in the room. Curtis glanced around before seeing a large rectangular stone, tomb looking object in the middle. He walked over to it and examined it.
“Adkynn, help me move the lid.” He asked.
Adkynn walked over and grabbed one end of the slab while Curtis grabbed another. They lifted it up and off of the box. Curtis looked in and saw nothing but bones. Large bones; at that.
“Adkynn, these aren’t human.” Curtis said.
Adkynn looked in examining the bones. “There dragon, what kind I don’t know.”
Curtis nodded and noticed a blue glint. He moved the bones aside and reached in. He pulled out the object. It was a book. He looked at the side of it and knocked the rusted lock off the books side. He opened it up.
“What would a book be doing with dragon bones?” He said looking at them.
“Who knows? But let’s not outstay our welcome.” Adkynn looked to the side and then up. There was outside like pouring in from the top of the room, but the room was basically a tower. They started upwards. The light got stronger and the torch got extinguished. Adkynn dropped the torch down the gap in the stairs and it thudded against the ground. They reached the top and moved a stone slab out of the way. It was a tower.
The stone tower over looked the entire Red Rock Region. It was odd, but insquisitive at the same time.
“Copper, Slity!” Adkynn shouted. Not long after the dragons flew over to them and they both got off the tower floor and onto the backs of their dragons. They flew straight back to the town. They might of just found something of worth, for the entire town.[/b][/color]----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Book has knowledge on all the dragons in the continent really. It is currently kept under lock and key in the Articul in Red Rock.
