DATE & TIME : 2nd August WEATHER CONDITIONS : cloudy with light rain CHARACTERS INVOLVED : Kenna, Horik PREVIOUS THREADS ? Information That Could(n't) Be Needed
Kenna yawned and stretched as she sat on her work table. She hadn’t got much to do today, which was normal really. She only really got work when 1. People broke or damaged their current steel and needed it fixed or replaced or 2. When there was a war or conflict brewing. Today she did have something to do though.
But she couldn’t do it yet because she was missing her apprentice who hadn’t been turning up the last two days. She didn’t mind him slagging since most the time there was nothing to do, but now she needed him so had sent Fenrir to dragon him out of whatever hole he was in. He’d been much more helpful recently, obviously trying to suck up to her.
She felt herself shiver slightly and she looked outside. It was wet, but not more of a drizzle than a full blown rain. She pulled her waistcoat, lowered her sleeves (her shirt was sleeved today) and moved over to the fire place. She stoked the fire and started at it for a bit.
Kenna looked up at footsteps and saw Horik walking into her smithy, “Hello there,” she said in a chipper voice as he came in. “You coming in for your little project?”

Horik walked out his door and looked around. What was he going to do today? Nothing, Thats right. Nothing. Well.. That he could think of at least. He hated it when he couldn't think of anything to do, He would love to talk about his ideas for inventions but all he would get would be a angry old man yelling at him telling him that he was going against everything they beilived in. Well. That the old man beilived in at the least again. But still.
Argent bardged around him and took off. Horik jog a little toward the way Argent was flying. "HEY! YOU BE BACK BEFORE DARK!" He yelled after Argent. A older guy around his twenty looked at him with an amused look"You crazy." . Horik looked over with an annoyed look. "What." The man looked at him and walked off. "You know your just as cranky as your father whos always critizing me. Just like your great great grandfather Mildu who gave everyone else trouble with what he thought!" He looked around and walked off whistling as afew people looked at him.
He wandered over to the smithery and saw Kenna inside. He walked over and knocked abit before walking in. He looked in and smiled abit. "Hey Kenna." He shook his head. "No. Taking a break." He walked inside and looked at a table. and leaned against it a little.
He sighed. "Kenna. You got the same mind as me with creating things. Do you have any ideas what I can do?" He looked over at Kenna.

She looked at her intrigued by the question. Kenna was always making up inventions; it was mainly to keep the monotony of lack of work down. She had ideas, but most were more weapon type things that would never work as hard as she tried.
“Well, erm…” she muttered, leaning back slightly on the table by her, “I have a few tinker ideas that you might find interesting.” She walked over to a spare table that was covered in her nick nacks. She grabbed them one at a time and explained them, “This is an attempt at a different kind of time piece, something that doesn’t need to be reset so often like candle or water time pieces.” It was a complete mess of badly done wheels and some weights in to try and get it moving, but she’d messed up somewhere and it was just a mess.
“I’ve…Kind of left that one cause I don’t think I could mess it up any more than I already have,” she quickly put it down, feeling embaresed by it. She skipped over the strange instrument she’d been making and her tests on the metal’s elasticity (modern words, not her words) for now and went to another pet project.
Kenna picked up an empty handle, “Not sure exactly how to pull this off yet in a way that’ll be useful or effective, but I had an idea that rather than needing a sheath you could,” she turned the handle so it was upside down, using the gravity to pull the blade inside into site, “do that. Like I said, I’m still working on how to get in to stay out and then come back in.”
She turned it back the right way up before placing it back on the table. Then it came to the last thing on the table. These weren’t the only projects, just the only ones out. She didn’t pick up the last thing…she did really want to since it could easily fall apart. “That’s…a test of an idea I have. I’m thinking that our prosthetics need to be better, more realist…that’s me testing how hands work, how to make one moor right.”

Horik looked at the time piece that Kenna had told him about not even a few minutes ago. He examined it and moved a few of the weights up and down seeing how it would work if everything was moving. Horik stepped back and looked at the piece trying to think of a way to get the time piece to work.
"This time piece. It's interesting because it doesn't use liquid or gas materials but more of force and solid materials. " He stated. "I think I have a basic idea on how to work this out. Basically what you would do is get three small weights, because as we know, there's hours, minutes and Seconds. Hook those weights up to the appropriate mechanisms in the time telling piece to show the hours, minutes and seconds. Then get a large weight, not too heavy but heavy enough so when you set it, it uses gravity to constantly keep moving back and forth. By doing this it's will move the other wieghts and move the time telling part to tell you what the time is." Horik said looking st the experiment then over to Kenna for a moment looking at her with a raised eyebrow. "What do you think."

Kenna watched as he went back to the rubbish timepiece. Kenna liked watching people fiddling with things cause it was the only way she ever really got to see into someone’s mind. She couldn’t get a good view of it, but she could atleast see the traing of through Horik was on.
He liked her different kind of method. He then started to give some ideas. What he was saying was reatively simple in and as Kenna through about it she could see how it would fit into her design. What she knew was that her time piece was too complex, every mistake she’d made she tried to fix by adding something new to it. It was just a mess right now. It would probably be a good idea to take the comsept from her thing and make a new thing with Horik’s ideas.
He then asked what her opinion, she smiled, “Yeah, I get what you’re saying but what abo...” stopped half way through her sentence because Fenrir appeared then. Kenna knelt down as the dragon approached, “hello there, am I going to see him then?
The dragon shook his head, “Aparently his dad is sick and so he has to go and do the things his dad was supposed to do.” Kenna sighed. He really was an unreliable brat.
She shook her head, “Sorry, it seems my striker’s bailed on me again. We don’t get many jobs right now, but it would be nice to have an apprentice that could turn up when we do have one.” She sighed again. She did need to do that job. She then looked up and then had an idea.
“Ermm, I know you’ve never done it before and it was by no means the reason you came here...but could you help me with this smithing job I have, I really can do it on my own.”

Horik listened to Kenna talk to her about an apprentice. It seemed to him by what she was saying that her current apprentice doesn't show up when she need them. That kind of thing would kinda make himself mad if he needed help and it didn't come. He looked over at Kenna and looked around for a minute and then brought his gaze back to her once she had mentioned if she needed help with a smithing job. He thought about it for a minute. He really doesn't have anything to do right now and its kind of the reason why he came here is to see if she needed help or not.
He nodded his head abit and smiled. "If you need help then ill do it." He replied looking around the shop. He walked over to a table near the middle and put his hands down on it and took another look around the show to see where everything was so he knew where to go to get something. After he was done doing that he looked over at Kenna and raised an eyebrow. "So what is it that you need help with in the smithing job Kenna?" He asked as he waited for a response.

Kenna’s face gleamed as Horik agreed to help her, “Thanks mate!” she quickly moved from the table and over to where the she would heat the metal, “I don’t need to straight away, but when I need you I’ll call you over.”
“Basicly I just need you to bag things into the right shape, cause I need to hold it in the right place while someone else does it.” She started to pump the bellows so the fire stayed hot. “Sooooo…How’s things with Summer going?” she felt like prying, it was an interesting thing to ask. She listened to his answer and smiled, she did know if her parents were still here today they’d be scolding her for still being a bacheloress. She was fine with how things were, for now.
“Ooo, looks like we’re ready over here!” Kenna finally called and pulled out container of the liquid metal with tongs. She carefully moved it over to the bolder like thing and poured it in (OOC: in case your wondering I’m taking this from Axe to grind, so all inaccuracies I’m doing Dreamworks did first so it’s okay. ;D) and then dropped the tongs and the container in a bucket of water.
“Mind giving me a hand carrying it over?” The two of them picked up the heavy boulder and lifted it off the table and moved it to the table next to the anvil. Once that was done she pointed to where another implement was and asked him to bring it over to her as she opened it up to show the sword. When he passed it to her she picked up the sword with the implement and placed it onto the anvil. “Okay, I’ll turn the sword over, I’ll need you to it with that,” she said pointing at the hammer, “don’t worry, I’ll direct where it needs to be hit.”

Horik listend to Kenna and nodded once she was done speaking. He walked over to the smith and watched the metal. He heard kenna ask how things were with summer latley.
"Pretty good i suppose. We have been out an about the island couple times a week finding what I need or just to hang around and relax. " He said smiling as he watched the metal heat up.
Horik watched kenna take the pour and pour it into a mould and watched the tongs fall into the cooling water. He walked over to the other side and lifted it up and off of the table next to the anvil. He heard Kenna ask him to get something for her, he nodded and walked over to where the item was and picked it up before walking back to her.
Horik took the hammer and nodded before waiting for Kenna to show him where to hit. "So anything new around here, or in the village that i might not of heard of." He hit the spots with the right amount of force and accuracy needed for this job. He listened to Kenna as she swapped between talking about the Village and where to hit on the object.

Kenna smiled as he talked about him and Summer, and was really glad her parents weren’t around right now. She knew if they were they would be complaining to her about the fact she’d not got anyone yet and had no kids.
As she pointed out the where for him to hit, he asked her about any new gossip going about. Her eyes gleamed as she said, “Why would you think I would know about what happens round here?” she said with a tone to show she was taking the mick. She turned the sword and pointed at another point.
She then started to think about things that he might not know. “Well, It’s mostly been the same kind of things this village normally has, few fights, few insidents in training sessions. Oh, aparrently a girl from our village got caught with an outsider on night…if you get what I mean.” She’d turned and pointed throughout all her talking, and then remembered something, “Oh yeah, Ulrika’s gotten quite vocal about the fact that she’s aparrently caught a Night Fury. Though it seems that she’s got no one who’ll say they’ve seen it.”
They finally finished it and Kenna then put it into a bucket, “Thanks Horik…Say, would you mind helping me whenever I need it? I do need an assistant and I get the feeling my current one isn’t going to be helpful from now on. That way you won’t have to feel that I’m just letting you use my stuff for free.” She said that with a smiling face that was trying to make sure he didn’t take that the wrong way. She did like him and wanted the feeling to remain mutual.
(OOC: Curtis, do you have some way of contacting Luna? If yes, can you do anything you can to find out why she's not been on any of her sites since early october, closed her dA account and deleted everything in her PiratePad. I'm getting quite worried about her now.)

"If I get what you mean." Horik looked at the sword and smirked a little before laughing. "Yea, Im pretty aware on what you mean by that." He hit another point on the sword and continued to listen to Kenna. "Well, Ulrika's kinda of a nut job a majority of the time. She's a nice girl and all but still. I doubt she could catch a Night Fury, much less train one. "
Horik put the hammer down after Kenna was done with the sword, He took a quick look around for a moment before hearing Kenna speak again. She wanted him to bascially become her second pair of hands around the blacksmith. He didn't mind the idea, he liked the idea of being able to use everything there in his free time without having to hunt Kenna down to ask her first. He thought on it for a minute or so more before shrugging.
"Sure, why not. I have a lot of free time and a lot of ideas I wanna get down on paper and possibly get help with every now and then. But in the end, yea. I don't see why not" Horik smiled and Kenna. She was a nice girl and didn't mind being around her. At least it wasn't like being a cranky person, or someone who was annoying, mad, or sad all the time. He didn't excatly like those people.
"So is there anything else you need help with? or want my input on?" Horik looked at Kenna before looking around the smith for another glance.

“No, nothing really,” Kenna replied as she started cleaning up what they’d been doing, “Now this is done I’m going to go off in a second to my uncle’s to ask him about something, You’re welcome to use this stuff while I’m gone. Thanks for the help. I’m sure I’m going to get a replacement apprentice, there’ll always someone whose parents who want their son to do something productive and shove them onto the blacksmith, but it’s good to know I have someone for when they can’t make it.”
Once she’d put everything away she looked outside, it was still spitting but Kenna could tell it wouldn’t be long until it stopped. She weighed up whether to wait or not and finally decided to risk getting wet. She turned back to Horik, “See you later then Horik!” and then she turned and ran. While she knew she’d be fine in the rain for a short time, she still wanted to get into the warmth of Uncle Ari’s house as soon as possible.
Fenrir watched as his master ran through the rain into the distance. He knew where she was going and was fine with saying near the fire, out of the rain. He looked up and saw Horik still there and reacted with surprise. Why’s this man still here? He walked up to the human, tilting his head.
(OOC: You can have more convo with Kenna if you want, I’ll write her reply to it and set it as just before she says good bye and runs off.)

Horik waved Kenna off as she left. He smiled to himself and looked over at the forge and rest of the area. He tilted his head a little and looked down at the terrible terror that stood near his feet. He smiled at the dragon. "Let me think. What was your name again." Horik started mummbling to himself a little as he tried to recall the terrors name. "Ah ya. Fenrir."
Horik looked at the forge. "Now what can i manage to make here without destroying the place." Horik looked down at Fenrir. "But then again do I really need to get working on something right now?"
Argent slipped his head into the blacksmith shop and looked around. Horik looked behind him at Argent and smiled at him. "Hey Argent. Enjoy flying off like a Wild, Crazy boar into the woods?"
"Your really going to compare me to a Crazy and Wild boar now. Im offended." Argent snorted back at Horik.
"Would you rather I say you were a Chicken running around like you just got your head chopped off." Horik retorted back at him.
"Funny.." Argent snorted as he sarcastically replied, along with a glare.
"Anyways you ready to go off and do something?" Horik asked looking at Argent.
"Yea sure. Got nothing else on my mind that I can do right now." Argent replied as he slipped his head out of the shop and waited for Horik.
Horik looked down at Fenrir. "Tell Kenna I will talk to her later." Horik said as he walked out of the blacksmith and out to Argent. He slipped onto Argents back and pushed Argent into the sky and took off.
