DATE & TIME : July 30th, mid-morning WEATHER CONDITIONS : Pouring rain CHARACTERS INVOLVED : Any are welcome ^.^ PREVIOUS THREADS ? None It was a rainy day. A day not unlike most others on the island of Berk. People still went about their day and jobs. Dragons still flew, or at least tried too since their wings got too wet. Vikings in training's still trained. Though, Summer was sure Chad went easier on them today. He did when she was a ViT. She looked out her window, debating on what she wanted to do. Fireworm was all warm and cozy inside the house. She was tucked in a corner but really took up the whole wall.
She looked over at her dragon and smiled. Walking to her, she put her hand on the head and watched as Fireworm opened one eye and looked at her. Being a dragon of fire, she didn't want to be out in the rain at all. She couldn't even fly. She huffed out a stream of smoke and looked to the now dwindling fire. Knowing Summer was probably getting cold she huffed out a small jet of fire to start it back up. The house was filled with instant warmth and Fireworm purred in satisfaction.
Summer smiled at her dragon as she put her head back down on the floor. Summer walked back over to the window. It was close to the fire, so she stayed exceptionally warm. "What to do today?..." she looked around her house and grabbed her jacket. Turning towards Fireworm, she gave a small wave and walked out. She pulled the wool lined jacket on and tugged the hood over her head. She started walking nowhere in particular.
She soon realized she was heading towards the dragon arena. That was a place she hadn't been to for awhile. She gave a small smile as she neared it. Looking over the top she saw that someone was down there. The rain though, didn't help her figure out who it was. It looked like they were practice something though. She walked over to the door and opened it quietly to slid in. Once inside, she stood under the shelter for a minute. Glad for the break from the rain. She looked around and spotted the person. Yelling out, and even then not knowing if the person could hear over the torrent of rain that had started, she called to whomever it was. "Hey! What are you doing out here? Can't you practice or whatever tomorrow?"
Truth be told, she had been about to head back in. But seeing this person out here in the rain, made her want to help as much as possible. They could both get sick. The person probably more so since it looked as if they had been out in the water for awhile. Their back was to her which made it hard for her to distinguish if this was a girl or boy.

Out of all people Venny decided to bother, it had to be him. Irrite groaned as he slid in the arena, his roommate forgotten her notebook around here during her last session. How could a prankster lose her plans for pranks, to be honest he could live without it. He's been searching everywhere in the village which was why he was soaking wet. A nice fireplace and some blankets would fix that as soon as he got back home. After looking around, he found the small leather book, scribbled in with devious plans with traps and such. "I really should burn this, then again I'd be dead if that were to happen," Irrite mumbled as he flipped through the pages of cursive handwriting.
The brown haired boy noticed a wooden dummy, he eyed it and moved his attention to the wooden sword that laid next to it. "Heh, haven't seen one of these in a while," Irrite chuckled to himself as he grabbed the handle of the wooden sword. He laid the book on the ground next to him as he pointed his sword to the dummy. "Aha! We meet again, King Oak!" Irrite jabbed the weapon to the enemy's chest. "Any last words before I completely take over your kingdom?"
Completely off guard, Irrite drop the wooden sword with a clank, a shiver went up his spine as he looked behind him. "Um, well... No? Sorry, er... My friend just forgot something here and I'm here to find it for her," Irrite explained as he scooped up the book that he previously placed down. He took a better look at who was in front of him, it was clearly someone older than he was, and it was also a female. Irrite brushed his brown hair back in nervousness with a grin. "You.. didn't hear anything else did you?" Irrite asked as he turned his attention to the dummy he was threatening. More or less he wanted to keep his fantasy of King Oak to himself. If the whole village knew about that then his reputation of being charming would plop down to plain silly. Irrite was a teen not some kid, silly was not a option to be.

Bryn, bored as usual when Shock wasn't around- the dragon was out flying about in the pouring rain. Oh well. She was a Skrill, it was what she did. Or so she supposed, at any rate, Bryn never actually saw her when it rained like this. The brown-haired teenager closed her black eyes and tilted her face back into the rain, letting it pelt down onto her skin for a few moments before she reopened her eyes and looked around. Lazily, she noticed that her feet were taking her towards to the Dragon Academy. Why, she had no idea. Then the realized that her dragon's faint shadow was just ahead of her. Looking up, she smiled as Shock's familiar silhouette descended in a spiral pattern from the dark clouds. "Hey girl." Bryn said with a grin. "What's up? Don't usually see you on the ground when it's raining." Shock huffed out a reminder that while she was a Skrill, she still had to rest sometimes. In her irritation, a couple of lightning bolts snapped and popped on her scales, lighting up the immediate vicinity for a few moments- just long enough for the teenage girl to see someone yelling at another someone inside the arena itself. Huh. Well, knowledge was power, as her mom had always joked, but Bryn took it seriously. Walking over with Shock next to her, she called out in a friendly voice, "Hey there! Oh, hi Irrite." She said, recognizing the other VIT.

Summer jumped slightly when the sword the boy was holding dropped to the floor with a clang. Her eyebrows furrowed for a minute. He was pretty unsuspecting which could be bad in battle. But she couldn't help but smile at the young boy as he spoke of his friend forgetting something, then held up the notebook she nodded her head. Good enough reason to come here in the rain then get sidetracked by the dummy. His demeanor almost reminded her of her brother and the smile grew slightly as he pushed his hair back and grinned, although it seemed slightly nervous as he spoke. She shook her head and walked down the entrance so she could speak without yelling.
"Not if you didn't want me to hear it." In all reality she had heard something about a King, but hadn't been too sure since the rain. Upon further inspection of the young boy she furrowed her eyebrows, he looked soaked. She wondered how long he had been searching in the rain for this book and why it was so important. Feeling for the boy like she would her own brother she asked a simple question. "Hey you look freezing. You want to borrow my jacket?" She would ask any kid younger than herself this.
She didn't want him to get sick. He would miss out on lessons. Besides, her house was only a short walk from here and she had no idea how far away his house was. When another voice sounded and lightning cracked on a dragon hide, Summer turned just as a girl about the same age as the boy walked up and spoke. "Hello. My name is Summer. Since I know that your Irrite now, what's your name?" She said looking from the boy to the girl.
They were probably in the same class, and probably with Mitch. Eyeing the Skrill, her last encounter with a wild one fresh in her mind, she wished Fireworm was here. She felt safe, but she would feel better with her Nightmare. But of course the dragon stayed inside the house on rainy days when she had a chance of not being able to fly or use her fire. Since the girl had a dragon, Summer wondered if the young boy did as well. Most ViTs had some kind, but just as many didn't have one.

Post by Jovic and Little Wildfire on Jan 26, 2013 18:25:31 GMT -5
Jovic sitting in the stands of the arena with his arms crossed and hat over his face lay resting. He was roused by a voice, the area had recently been desolate and he found comfort outside. He leaned forward and tilted his hat up looking into the arena. He had seen a few younger people. Sven had explained them as warriors-in-training. Jovic knew a thing or two about fighting, maybe he could get a fun spar in while imparting some knowledge.
He moved over to the caging that outlined and arched over the arena, setting a hand on a bar. He watched and saw that things were still.. slow-going. He decided to watch until things got interesting, if things got interesting. Perhaps, after some time, he'd have to attempt communication if only to get in a decent workout. He sized them all up, not warriors yet, to be sure, but capable, in their own ways. He wouldn't be bored, that's for sure.
Little Wildfire lay curled up where Jovic had been resting, something about this place always made him tired. He perked up slightly, looking in Jovic's direction. "You're not going to embarrass them are you?" He said, rhetorically and with a note of uncaring. He rested his head back down.
Jovic looked back at his companion, shook his head, and looked back at the young warriors-to-be. He knows me too well. Even with the best intentions I make novice warriors uncomfortable. Maybe this time will be different, I just want to show them a few things. He continued to watch, figuring it inevitable that he'd be seen shortly and either confronted or questioned. He was fine with this projected course of events.

The smiling that the stranger was giving him was quite creepy but he shrugged it off, who didn't want to smile at him? The mirror. As soon as she asked if he wanted her jacket (most likely from being in the rain for far too long) he politely shook his head. "No thanks, ma'am, I'm okay for now. Nothing a fireplace can't fix," Irrite reassured as he positioned himself to look more confident. But all he managed was to stand up straighter with the notebook in hand. He would had read it already but something told him he didn't want anything to do with it.
Irrite turned his attention to one of his fellow viking in trainings, and saw that she greeted him. "Hey there, Bry," he responded with a nod. He wasn't sure now that the older viking knew his name now but hey what can you do about it within a village. At least he learned her name was Summer, now we just need Spring, Fall, and Winter. He chuckled at his own joke.
Irrite looked back at King Oak, secretly making a speech that this wasn't over. He scoffed as he looked back at the book, it was totally secret from him, and he had to admit it had pretty handwriting, as usual for a girl. He mumbled a few insults to Venny and her dragon, but remembered he didn't have a dragon himself. He sighed as he looked up to see the weather, it was raining cats and dogs, that and mysterious shadows outside the bars. Wait, Irrite squinted his eyes to make sure he saw right. Now he wished that he refused to obey Venny's instructions, a bunch of strangers and not a friend in sight. Well it's not like he had any friends at the moment.

Bryn looked over at the warrior viking. "My name's Bryn. This is Shock." She said, gesturing to her dragon. The Skrill produced a polite, slightly welcoming tone from her throat. "What about you?" She asked curiously, while making a mental note of Irrite's stammer and his mention of "a friend". Well, maybe it was true, maybe it wasn't. She honestly had no idea, but Bryn tried to make note of everything she could. You never really know when ammo like that could come in handy, especially as a teenager. Cynical? Maybe. Paranoid? Probably. Strange? Strange was her middle name...or at least it should have been.
Shock hurred a question at the senior viking. Specifically, the dragon wanted to know why she was out in the rain. Swinging her head to face Bryn in case she had an answer. She didn't, so Shock returned her gaze to the viking. Summer, Shock remembered, was how the human had identified herself.
(Sorry it's so short...couldn't think of anything else.)

Summer nodded when he said he was fine. Then the introductions happened. As she found out this girls name was Bryn and her dragons name was shocked. She looked at the Skrill again and gave a slight smirk. Of course this one would be out. She probably loved the lightning and rain. But still, her last encounter with a Skrill left her a little wary of the species. When she saw Irrite look up towards the edge of the arena. Summer followed his gaze, and when she spotted a guy watching them, or at least looking like he was watching them, her eyebrows furrowed.
He didn't look familiar. By familiar at all. And of course she didn't have her bow. She could've facepalmed. How could she be so empty-headed? Fireworm wasn't with her and she had no way of protecting herself if this guy attacked. But, he had a dragon next to him. Though the dragon was sleeping, it was still a good sign. She cupped her hands to her mouth, since the rain had started to fall harder. Harder falling rain meant louder sounding rain. "You up there! Who are you?"
Since these were just ViTs she felt a certain protection over them. That's what the warriors were supposed to do. But what good was she without her weapon and dragon. Her hand went down to her pocket as she felt the familiar wooden whistle that Mitch had made for her for her birthday. It was a silent whistle. Well to all but Fireworm. Her dragon could hear it from miles away. But that was on a clear sunny day. Could she chance that her dragon would hear it when she was inside the house and it was raining. She paused a moment. Her dragon would bring her bow. She knew what the whistle usually meant.
Wanting to have some form of protection for herself, not to mention the fact that she could shelter herself under the wings or fly home faster she took out the whistle and in a swift motion blew into it. Nothing was sounded. It was quiet. She pocketed it and waited. Who knew if it would really work though.
Back at home, Fireworm lay next to the small fire inside the Frost house-hold. Her eyes were blinking lazily as she didn't want to fall asleep until Summer arrived back home to safety. She could feel herself dozing off though, when a certain sound reverberated through the room. Her head shot up as the sound ended. Looking to the door, she saw the bow leaning on the wall she gave a huff of annoyance at her rider before flicking it with her tail and rushing out the door. Within seconds she was in the air and on her way to her owner. She couldn't use her fire, but at least she could fly over. Then she always had her claws, tail, and teeth if need be.
Summer stopped herself from tapping her foot. The wait was killing her. And no doubt the ViTs and perhaps the strange man were thinking she was a bit odd for blowing into a non-sounding whistle. But the worry stopped as she saw the red body of her Monstrous Nightmare in the sky. Her dragon tilted towards the ground, and when she landed walked trough the arena door. She curled her tail around her rider so Summer could get her bow. Once the bow was strapped to her back, she stood slightly to the side and behind her. Her eyes flicking from the ViTs, to the Skrill, to the strange man above, and to his dragon.
Fireworm let out a small rumble, but Summer placed her hand on her dragons snout. "They are our friends. Not too sure about him though." She spoke softly and not for the last time, wished she knew dragonese. Fireworm spoke, but she didn't know what her dragon was saying. Though she felt it was something about her levels of trust. "Says you. I still have yet to see how they act towards you and I." Fireworm was slightly snarky, but for good measure. She didn't know these people and dragons, so she sure as heck didn't trust them.

Irrite looked back at Summer who did something that he didn't see in time, the boy gave a confused expression. After a while Irrite guessed it was nothing too important before a Monstrous Nightmare entered in. Irrite felt like he should scream and run off, but he merely stood his ground and hoped the dragon belonged to Summer. He kept his confident face while biting his lower lip. If he had a dragon he would had fled already, call him a coward? No, it was merely living another day to be alive.
Irrite blinked as he glanced at the dummy again, he really should focus on Summer and her dragon. He had to admit she was a pretty tough looking dragon, which he guess was the look the Nightmare was going for. He neared Summer keeping his eye on Fireworm but kept his distance. "Hey... Um, Summer, she's not going to um, attacking anyone here right?" Irrite asked nervously. The ViT looked back up to the mysterious figure that he saw earlier, to be honest he looked harmless, however Venny and Camo taught him not to judge everything so easily. He grasped the book tighter in his hands, and adjusted his maroon colored scarf to a more comfortable state.

Raising a skeptical eyebrow at the first sounding of the silent whistle, Bryn's initial impression of the warrior had been that she was a bit strange. Flicking a glance at the strange man watching them, she jumped back, startled, when the Monsterous Nightmare entered the arena. Well, okay then. Apparently the whistle had done something. Bryn could've smacked herself for being so stupid. Of course the whistle would've done something, warriors didn't carry useless items, much less waste time with them. Or at the very least, they weren't supposed too.
Shock eyed the newly-arrived dragon warily. "So Summer's your Viking?" She asked cautiously. "I'm Shock...what about you?" She continued, anxious to appear friendly. While she was faster then the other dragon, it didn't do to make enemies with other dragons- especially if you lived in the same village.
Bryn, looking slightly exasperated, ignored Irrite's question. Couldn't he tell they were communicating? And the dragon had brought a bow and arrows for Summer- a good sign that this was Summer's dragon and wouldn't attack unless Irrite did something that the Nightmare wasn't happy about. Then again, this was Irrite. His very name sounded like 'irritating' Probably unfair, she didn't know much about this kid. But if he lived with Venny, she definitely did not trust him around pointy objects- or dragons. Which, on Berk, meant almost never.
