DATE & TIME : 7/26 & Early morning WEATHER CONDITIONS : Slightly chilly CHARACTERS INVOLVED : Asvora, anyone PREVIOUS THREADS ? N/A
Topaz eyes watched the large boar snuffle the ground beneath her perch. She knew by the bulk and tusks that it would be a challenge to take down, and a challenge she was willing to engage in. Silently slipping a large jagged dagger out of her belt, Asvora kept her gaze on the creature as her lips touched the edge, blood seeping out of the light cut and barely smearing against the blade. The dagger flew; a loud squeal leaving the boars maw, the blade dug deeply into its hide, before breaking into a run. Jumping down from the branch she was perched, Asvora took chase; another blade flying through the air and striking it in the shoulder as it turned.
Dirt and dried leaves piled up as she slid, her bandaged had gripping a branch as she slid for a turn, her long legs breaking into a run once again to follow her prey. Asvora made sure to keep her breathing steady as she chased, her training kicking in. Catching sight of over-hanging branches, the ViT picked up her pace, making a leap and swinging on a large branch. Quickly pulling herself up, Asvora jumped the branches with ease until she was practically over the boar. With a final leap, she landed on top of the boar, the added weight causing the boar to stumble in mid-run and topple them both down the hill.
Through the tumble, she wrestled around and finally got a grip on the tusks before they finally slammed to a stop. A wheeze escaped her lips as the boars weight fell upon her chest, her hands gripping tightly to the tusks and yanking the large beast sideways and off her. Sliding onto her knees, Asvora tugged and slammed the beasts crown into the ground, quickly moving to sit upon the large bulk in an attempt to keep it down.
Blood slid down the side of her mouth and coated her lips and a few teeth as Asvora grinned, "Got you now, you beast."

Like his fellow Viking in training, the large boar was Grima’s quarry, he’d decided to stay up later than usual so he could take this quarry out, test his ability to take the fatigue. Unlike Asvora though he did not hang around in treetops, instead he followed quietly on foot, bow and arrow loaded and held ready for when he felt it was a good time to take aim.
He knew unless he was very lucky with his first shot, getting straight through the eye or something similar he’d be having problems with taking this thing out. He might be able to send a two or three more shots before he’d have to move, though the chances he’d take it out by them would be low.
He’d have to take his chances, he was about to get the best shot he was going to get. He raised his bow and arrow and aimed at the boar’s face, as it was now facing in his direction, though he was waiting for the beast to raise his head. He was tired right now and unsure if this shot would work.
As he was about to take the shot, he saw a dagger fly down and going into his quarry. He froze, realising that he wasn’t the only one after this beast. He watched as the tall Viking in training jumped down and chased it, throwing another blade at it.
Grima watched for a moment more before quietly following them, seeing if he’d have any opening to take a shot without hitting Asvora. Having said that, he was still very annoyed that the girl had jumped in on his hunt, especially since she’d probably only recently gotten out of bed, where as he was yet to get in it.
The girl started to swing on the trees making her go quicker, but he was quite quick, while he would still be beaten by Ulrika in a race he’d be able to keep up with here and most others. And then she took the leap. Jumping at the boar she smashed into her and sent it to the ground. He swore as he realised that they were on a gradient so they tumbled down the hill and he continued on his chase.
He saw the two finally came to a stop and Asvora wrestled the beast until she was back on top, whacking the creatures head on the ground. He stopped where he was directly in front of the two of them. The boar looked straight at Grima and started to react more violently. I need to end this, he thought and quickly reloaded his bow, pulled the string back and fired the arrow, shooting it straight into the (so much of me wanted to say bulls)eye, silencing it.

Having caught such a prize had Asvora swelling with pride at her feat. The weeks taken to track its steps were worth it. Now she just had to kill it and haul it back home.
Hearing the undergrowth rustle was the only warning she had before the bulk below her went into a slight frenzy.
Asvora had to give herself credit for not jumping at the arrow that was suddenly through the boars eyes; the tip of the dagger shimmered with blood through the back.
She wasn't surprised that someone else had been targeting the large boar, didn't mean she would give up her catch to the one that ended its life.
Keeping her weight upon the now dead animal, the Viking in training looked back up the hill they had tumbled down to catch a glimpse of who might have shot the arrow.
Her slim fingers gripped tightly to the tusks, knuckles turning white as she realized she wasn't the only one who targeted the beast. Topaz eyes narrowed at the boy standing with a bow.
"So you were after the boar as well then? As I cannot recall who you exactly are, you are out of luck."
Fellow Viking in training or not, she wasn't loosing her catch to him.

He smiled as the girl glared at him and made her defensive statement about her kill, “I don’t want you it. I’d more been after it as a test for myself then for the actual rewards got from it. I mean yes I could have used the hide or the meat, but that was your kill, I won’t argue against that.”
“The only reason I did that final shot was cause I was annoyed that you’d attack a second before I did. But you are much boulder than me, I was going to try to take it out without having to worry about close combat, you went straight into it and without any back up if it went horably wrong.”
“Hi,” Flint said as the two of them trotted to them. She yawned, giving a hint to Grima that they should be in bed by now.
“Mind if I give you a hand to get it back to the village though?” Grima asked, it looked too big for one person to carry all that distance, even a big girl like this one. “And it’s Grima,” he did feel slightly annoyed that he remembered her name but not visa versa (this is set after Second detention so if you join that they will have met, though they should have met by now anyway), “Grima Blatand the Brash.”

Well that was different; normally someone wanted half the catch if they somehow helped. Now that she got a better look at the boy, Asvora recognized him from the training, the Zippleback, not so much. Raising herself off the ground to stand with her legs on either side of the boar, Asvora stuck out her bandaged hand.
"Sorry for forgetting your name, didn't get a good look at you. And the boars not going to the village, it's going to my home. If you want to help then that's fine."
She honestly had no idea what she was saying. Never having made friends much less acquaintances with any of the other Vikings, Asvora had never invited them toward her home. No one even knew where they lived anyways, besides maybe the leader but she didn't know if that was true or not.
Already deciding that she would give Grima at least half of the catch; whatever he wanted from it didn’t matter, sure the tusks would be great for new daggers but if he wanted them he could have them. The tall ViT could have a chance of becoming acquaintances with the shorter (she won’t go as far as saying friends, there was the slim chance of having nothing in common and start arguments.)
“I hope your Zippleback behaves around its own kind, as they will be meeting my mother’s Zippleback if you decide to have them tag along; now, are you willing to help?”

Varin felt the cool breeze of the early morning gently brush by him high up in his hammock in the forest. He had been home for some time now but was not yet fully used to sleeping in a bed or even in a house for that matter. The young explorer preferred much more to sleep outdoors and under the stars despite what the weather conditions were. Luckily for him it was only slightly chilly out and with Wavebreaker nesting close by he had no fear of dragon attacks. The silence the forest provided was perfect and soothing, Varin considered loafing around here all day but something seemed to be stirring on the ground below. The boy watched as his fellow Vikings in training slew the mighty boar and though he could quite hear what they were saying he tried to depict the conversation by reading their lips. It looked as if they were fighting over who killed the boar or who had claim to the spoils but he could be wrong. He really didn’t want to get into the middle of it but this seemed interesting enough to check out. Varin quickly and quietly descended from the tree and signaled to Wavebreaker to come to his side. Then they waltzed up behind the younger ViTs and asked “Hey you two what’s up?”

He took her hand, “It’s okay, and sure.” He said before he thought about it. He didn’t know much about this girl, apart from that she was taller than him by such a margin. Should I really be going to her house at this hour? He smiled at the comment about Stahl and Flint who just groaned, “They don’t mind other Zipples, but I think they’ll decline so they can have some sleep.”
Stahl nodded as the two turned away, “coming back to the cave or you sleeping at home?”
“Whichever’s closer,” Grima said, not knowing where Asvora’s house was that was the best answer he could give. He turned back to the Viking in training, “Shall we start moving it then?” I walked over to her and while he found her slightly formidable, he did find her slightly attractive.
As they were about to pick it up, another tall teenager turned up behind him and said hi. Grima looked at the white haired man and sighed, “not much, we were just about to move this boar…why are you out so early?” He didn’t need another reason to stay up, he was going to help Asvora purely out of courtesy.

Silently letting out a breath she didn't realize she was holding Asvora could feel her lips twitch in a smirk or smile she didn't know. As the Zippleback left she did a silent farewell, eyes watching as they left. The vermillion haired trainee could feel a frown tug at the corner of her lips, realizing practically all the other ViTs actually had dragons when she didn’t; she found it quite unfair.
An eyebrow rose as she realized what the curly haired trainee said, and whether Grima wanted to or not he would be taking a rest at her house, she decided. Her house was quite a whiles away so she hoped he doesn't face plant into the ground while helping or the boar and other Viking would be have to be dragged. Plus she didn’t know where he lived and how much distance there was between the two places.
Just as they were about to heft the large boar up, another Viking in training appeared. Her topaz eyes scanned his tall frame, taking a while to recognize him as Varin. She really didn’t have an opinion on him besides that he was one of those strong silent types Staying crouched over the boar, Asvora allowed Grima to talk, wondering the same thing he was.

Varin let out a big yawn and began to stretch out his stiff muscles as he answered Grima’s question “I was sleeping up there” he motioned to his tree top hammock well above their heads. “It seems like you need some sleep yourself Grima, you look positively beat.” He added after giving him a quick once over. The older ViT then turned his attention to the slightly bloody but still very attractive girl hovering over top of the dead boar. Something about her seemed different than the other girls of Berk but Varin found her quite compelling. Noticing that he might be staring a bit, Varin began doing a mental check to make sure that he didn’t speak louder than necessary. Finally he spoke up saying “Why don’t you let me help you two? That is if it’s ok with the lovely Miss Asvora of course.” Before a reply was given he made sure to say “I want nothing in return, it’s just that you seem to need all the help you can get” gesturing to the tired looking boy in front of him. Then he looked over at Wavebreaker and back to the girl when he said “I promise my dragon won’t eat your kill either so there is no worry” Varin was silently hoping she would say yes so that he could spend a little more time getting to know his fellow ViTs, especially Asvora.
(Not that Varin thinks that Grima is truly all that tired he just wants to mess with him so he can have an excuse to hang out with Asvora and partially to get under Grima's skin)

Grima glared at him when he mentioned that he looked tired. He didn’t feel too bad right now, he could stay up for ages more. He just knew he should get to bed as soon as he could. Grima wondered why he was taking so long to say things, though he wasn’t too keen on being around this guy for too long, after all he had desided to run away from here.
When he finally started talking, Grima sighed. The boar wasn’t so heavy that it required three people! The sigh was also to the blatant, and frankly pants compliment. He glared at the other Viking in training as he insulted him. “Thanks for that! I’m awake enough to carry something like this, it’s not exactly a three man job!” and he had a feeling Asvora didn’t really need too much of his help anyway.
He looked at the teenager’s dragon, which he recognised to be a Thunder Drum. The true was he really didn’t care if the dragon did or not, if it did he would be able to walk straight off to the cave now. He liked sleeping with Flint around him, though his own bed was more comfortable.
Whatever Asvora’s response, Grima accepted it and and knelt down to help pick up the boar. Better get this over with as quickly as possible. He really didn’t like how this guy was just assuming was too tired for the job, the whole point of saying up till now was to show I could.
(OOC: To give a preserved time equivalent, it’s like staying up till midnight for him, so I don’t think it’ll be as perseveable as all that [hence why he’s so annoyed about the comments])

Looking up when Varin motioned that he slept up in the trees; topaz eyes were able to spot the other Vikings hammock. How did she not notice that? On second thought she knew why, the boar. Chancing a glance down, the female Viking didn't get much of a chance before her eyes snapped up when the first words out of Varin's mouth made Grima snap. Boys. Was it honestly neccessary to argue over such little things. Asvora rolled her eyes and placed her hands on her hips, and she thought dragons were bad when they fought.
While her mind wondered to different thoughts, she missed the 'lovely' comment. Was it worth bringing two boys to her house or decline the other Vikings offer. The female Viking just gave up, if he wanted to follow, he could. Telling Grima to help, she kneeled down and hefted the head to rest over her shoulder. She'll take most of the weight incase her fellow Viking were to fall over.
Turning darkened topaz eyes to the pale blond, Asvora spoke, "You are welcomed to follow us if you'd like. Of course your assistance might not be needed but the offer stands." Her steps were strong as she walked past, back straight and head up.
[[OOC: To clarify, Asvora doesn't know Varin deserted because she rarely steps into the village. Sorry if that was a bit confusing.]]

Asvora didn’t seem to pay him too much attention, on top of it all he appeared to be bickering with Grima which seemed counterproductive to try to get to know them better. Varin figured it was safe to say things were not off to a good start. Surprisingly, Asvora did leave the offer standing to tag along which Varin saw as a good sign. As she looked at him with those topaz eyes a shiver went down his spine, Varin couldn’t quite help himself but follow this mysterious girl as she walked past with her head held high. “I would very much like to join you both.” Varin finally said with a slight smile. The blonde Viking boy quickly motioned to his dragon gliding around the tree tops to come down to his side for a moment. “Wait for me back home, I’ll be back later buddy.” He said to the Thunderdrum. Wavebreaker muttered something under his breath before leaving but Varin didn’t quite hear it.
Varin turned as the dragon flew off to catch up to the other two, they all walked together a while in silence, the older Viking boy unsure of their precise destination. Though Varin still couldn’t shake the bit of tension he had built up with Grima earlier; so he turned to the younger boy trailing at the opposite end of the slain boar and said, kind of begrudgingly, “I’m sorry I said you looked tired, you seem like you can hold your own.”

Grima didn’t like that Varin coming, but he didn’t argue with it. He’d already got a bad opinion of him since he ran away from the village, what had been happening just then merely reinforced the view.
As the three of them walked along, Grima started to realise that the girl was taking more or the weight than he was. He didn’t need that, someone making a point that they were stronger than him. He repositioned it so the two of them were carrying what he guessed was about even.
He gave Varin a glare when he tried to backtrack on his insult. He smiled slightly, he knew all about him and enjoyed that since he only just came back he was regarded as the same level as him. “So, enjoying being back after deserting us for these years?” He had a feeling that Asvora didn’t know about Varin, seeing that she’d obviously not been in the village enough to know.
As they were walking he started wondering how far it was, and where would actually be closer. He hoped the cave was closer; give him reason to stay with Stahl and Flint. While his parent’s house was warmer and he would go to it and he would go there if it was, he didn’t really want to risk being woken up early by the other three.

Well, in hindsight the taller boy decided to leave his dragon behind. Asvora wasn't sure how well any of her parents dragons would react toward new comers. Just wait till she finally gets her own, she'll show them. The vermilion haired young viking was easily able to ignore the two boys as they walked, her lips twitching slightly as the feeling of warm blood slid down her shirt. Great now she'll have to change and get it washed before she could leave the house. Just wonderful.
The slight shift of weight, had her glancing over toward Grima, a smirk sliding onto her lips as she knew he finally realized that she had taken most of the weight and shifted it so they both would take equal. Though comparing their height, one would be taking more then the other anyways, no matter how subtle it was. Wow, she was actually starting to like the curly haired boy more then she did before.
Clicking her tongue quietly, half-lidded topaz eyes wondered to the side. not much interested in what they were saying but the comment form Grima had her halting to a stop, eyes widening slightly as her mouth hung agape. After gaping like a fish out of water, she finally found her voice, "Wait. Wait just a minute." Asvora's topaz eyes turned toward the taller viking in training, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "You're a deserter?"

Varin just wanted to punch Grima square between the eyes at that snarky remark about him deserting. He had no idea what Varin had gone through as a child, to have to lose all his family and having to care for himself. But all the tall Viking boy did was sent a nasty look Grima’s way. What hurt worse though was Asvora’s question and he wasn’t quite sure how to take it or how to answer her. Varin couldnt really tell what tone she asked her question in. Was she upset or mad that he had at one time left the village? Was it really that big of a deal that she would have to stop what she was doing completely to ask him that? These questions and more had flooded Varin’s head in an instant but somehow he managed to shake them all away and mutter out a very quiet “Yeah.” He paused for a moment and then spoke up once more, a bit louder “At least I was a deserter, I left after my parents died.” After he said that he felt a bit better like maybe he was over thinking the whole situation. He still wasn’t sure what she would say next though or if Grima would try to add in his two cents.
