DATE & TIME :August 8, Afternoon WEATHER CONDITIONS :Rainy CHARACTERS INVOLVED : OPEN
It had been rainy all day. The dark clouds above hadn't broken in almost a week. Even in the woods it was still wet almost everywhere. Redathin sighed, "Cloud Cutter is probably dying inside. He hates to fly in the rain, but he can't stand not being able to fly. What am I going to do." Redathin rubbed his eyes and kept walking through the woods, hoping an answer would come to him. He came to an old campsite protected from the rain. Well I am kind of cold, what bad could a little fire do. He gathered what little dry kindling he could and arranged it in the ring of rocks at the center of the campsite. He took out his flint and use his knife to try and spark the small assortment of sticks. In his attempt to light the fire he slipped and cut his finger. "Ah," he shouted as he clenched his finger. "Today just keeps getting better and better. Why I think I'll go hunt for rare dragons because today my luck is infinite, and while I do that I'll go learn everything possible," He said Sarcastically. Redathin sat on the ground and pouted.I'm such a failure. I can't even light a fire without messing up.

The smell of rain sent Varin into an almost euphoric state of mind. He absolutely loved everything about the rain from the sound of the drops hitting the roof of his house to the strange aroma it gave off that he couldn’t quite place. The young Viking oddly enough found himself most at peace during the most torrential of downpours. If anybody loved rain more so than Varin it was his dragon Wavebreaker, who enjoyed it for very much the same reasons as his partner. It had been raining off and on again all week and the pair seemed to be on cloud nine with delight. Every day this week the two could be found strolling through Toothless’ Forest, well Varin was strolling while Wavebreaker played in the rain, before heading out for a quick swim and some fishing.
Varin followed along a winding path he had marked for himself, weaving around the dense trees of the forest while his dragon accompanied him from above. It wasn’t raining yet so Wavebreaker decided to brush up against the high trees to knock the water droplets on Varin’s head below. Though Varin didn’t mind getting wet he still passed a playfully scornful look to his buddy as if to say ‘I’ll get you back later, just you wait.’ That made Wavebreaker swoop back down to ground level and follow a few safe paces back from Varin.
After some time down the makeshift trail, the pair happened along a small clearing that seemed perfect for taking a moment to rest and just kick back. Although, once they came through the opening in the tree line they could see a person crouched over what appeared to be a couple of sticks, cursing under their breath and holding their hand close to their body. “Quick, let’s get out of here before the crazy person notices us.” Wavebreaker tried to say to Varin but his plea fell on the young boys deaf ears (pun slightly intended). For no sooner had the dragon finished his sentence Varin was shouting out to the mystery person “HEY YOU OVER THERE, ARE YOU OK?”

* * * * * * * * * [/color][/SIZe] THE LOOKING GLASS [/COLOR] [red]SO SHINY AND NEW[/red]HOW QUICKLY THE GLAMOUR FADES[/center][/b][/i] Luna trudged though the rainy forest. She sighed. The young dragon healer had been collecting herbs for her store when it began to rain. In truth, she didn't mind the rain. In fact, she very much liked rain, but it was difficult to collect her herbs in it. It made everything muddy and the moisture often caused the plants to mold rather than dry like she needed them to in order to store them efficiantly. The plants obviously needed the rain to grow, but she couldnt collect them properly durning it. It seemed gathering her remedies would not be an option today, so after a bit of aimless wandering, she began to walk home. There she could warm up and Curtis would probably have headed home by now, she'd been out for a while now and he had been out flying Slity. The rain had only started a few minutes ago, so hopefully he had made it home before it started, otherwise they'd have to make their way home on foot, and heaven knows where they were then.
Her feet trudged over the wet grass as she walked home through the rain. Her red hair and the feathers tied in it were soaking wet now, and Luna was becoming cold. The rain made it hard to judge how far she was from the villiage, but she did know she was headed in the correct direction. Hopefully, she would arrive soon. She strained her eyes to see something, anything ahead. And evuentually, she did. Ahead she saw a quickly made shelter with a person huddled beneath it. He seemed to be grumbling and making frusterated gestures. She saw before him a pile of sticks, he seemed to be trying to start a fire. Her first reaction was to walk closer, but then she hesitated, thinking over the situation.
If she joined this stranger, assuming he was friendly, she could warm up with the fire he seemed to be attempting to start. She happened to have a flint in her shoulder pack, so if he had furthur difficulty She could be of assistance. Not to mention taking a rest didn't sound like such a bad idea. On the other hand, if Curtis had made it home, he might begin to worry if she didn't arrive home soon, especially considering the weather conidtions. After mulling it over for a moment, she decided to approach the stranger.
She walked up to the lean-to were he sat and quietly sat beside him. Sure, it was kind of an awkward move, but she didn't know what to really say. She was too shy to look up at him, she just hoped she wasn't getting nasty looks for being rude. She set her pack in her lap and opening it, pulled out the flint. She handed it to him and said [red]"Here's a flint, I couldn't help but notice you having some trouble with that fire."[/red] after he accepted the stone she didn't say anything for a minute. Looking him over, she noted his black hair and the raven embroidered on his tunic. He didn't seem like the foresty outdoorsy type. She wondered what on earth he could be doing out here.
When she finally worked up the courage to introduce herself she said quielty [red]"Uhm. Hello, by the way. My name is Luna.I live in the village. I hope you dont mind me sharing the fire with you, I'm rather cold."[/red] I START SPINNING SLIPPING OUT OF TOUCH [/size] WAS THAT THE WRONG PILL TO TAKE?[/size] * * * * * * * * *[/center][/color][/b][/i]

After ensuring his finger was fine Redathin sat back. No sooner had he sat back then he heard "Hey You over there, Are you okay?" Redathin looked around confused. When he saw no one sat back bewildered. Great, I'm going crazy. He shook his head and knelt back toward the small make shit fire pit.
No sooner had he reached into his pack for another go with his flint than a small red headed woman approached him holding out a small flint rock. She offered her flint rock and assistance he he required. Redathin reluctantly accepted and used his knife to spark the small fire to life. The woman called herself Luna though he had never seen her, probably due to his constant absence from the village.
Redathin handed the small flint rock back to Luna, placed his pack on the ground and sat on one of the small logs surrounding the fire. He motioned to Luna to sit at one of the other logs. Why would any one be out here during a rain shower. Redathin opened his pack and pulled out a small loaf of bread. He broke off a sizable piece and offered it to Luna. She tried to decline, but Redathin continued to offer until she gave in.
My name is Redathin, you probably don't know me or know of me because I'm a messenger and a merchant. I'm usually gone three to five days each week at other villages. Redathin paused and noticed the feathers in her hair. He remembered seeing them somewhere else, but he couldn't quite pin point where."Those feathers in your hair, do they symbolize something?"

* * * * * * * * * [/color][/SIZe] YOU MADE A DEAL [/COLOR] [red]AND NOW IT SEEMS YOU HAVE TO OFFER UP[/red]BUT WILL IT EVER BE ENOUGH?[/center][/b][/i] After the strange black haired man finished starting the fire, he handed her flint back. Luna took it back and placed it once again in her leather satchel. The fire crackled and sparked, giving off a welcoming light and warmth. She glanced up at the young man waiting for some kind of introduction in return for her own, but she did not get it right away.
He invited her to sit beside him on a small broken off portion of a fallen tree trunk. It was the perfect size for a few people to perch upon. Sure, it wasn't the most comfortable seating arrangement ever, but it was better than the ground. Luna lifted herself onto the log and settled herself in a bit. Her shoulders shivered from the wet and cold, so she held out her hands to the fire to warm herself some.
She heard a rustling sound beside her and looked over to see the young man rummaging through his own pouch. He soon came up with a small loaf of bread. He tore off a good sized peice and held it out to her. [red]"Oh, I couldn't"[/red] she said as he glanced at her, waiting for her to take the morsel. He argued for her to take it [red]I...I don't feel right taking your-"[/red] he interrupted and insisted. Luna was grateful, so she reached out and accepted it [red]"Thank you."[/red] she said with a little smile. She broke off small pieces with her fingers before placing them in her mouth.
As she began to eat, he finally introduced himself and Luna listened intently, eager to gather information about this unexpected aquiantance. [red]"It's nice to meet you, Redathin. A messenger? That's interesting. You must get to travel a lot. I don't get around much, myself. I'm the village Dragon Healer".[/red]
He inquired about the feathers in her hair. [red]"Oh...my feathers?"[/red] she said nervously, fingering her long red hair. She didn't quite know how to answer tactfully. Her hair was the one Hysterian tradition she held on to. She continued leave it hang down, unlike Berkite women, who braided or knotted theirs. And wearing feathers in your hair on Hysteria wasn't uncommon either. She stared down at her boots uncertainly. She finally answered with [red]"Uhm... No. It's just kind of how I do things, I guess."[/red] She hoped she didn't sound too shaky.
Eager to change the subject, she glanced up and asked Redathin a question. [red]"So, if you're a messenger, what on earth are you doing in the forest?"[/red] RAISE IT UP [/size] ITS NOT ENOUGH[/size] * * * * * * * * *[/center][/color][/b][/i] Muse: Awesomesaucy! :3 Words: 442 Notes: Herro! Forgot to do this little part last time! Hope ya don't mind Luna don't worry, she's harmless And uhm, I'm assuming we're not having a set posting order for this thread?

Varin felt like he was invisible, he was sure he had yelled out to the stranger huddled over the pile of tinder but as the mystery man looked around he passed right over the young Viking boy without even noticing him. Then as he was about to walk up to the person in the clearing Varin saw a red haired woman appear out of nowhere and sit beside him. Not sure how to approach the situation Varin stood back for a minute to think and assess what was going on. It wasn’t as if it was dire for him to go up to the pair sitting by the now lit fire but he felt like an idiot just standing back just out of sight. All the while Wavebreaker was celebrating that it had started raining by splashing in every puddle he could find and could have honestly cared less about his partner’s mini dilemma of whether or not to introduce himself to the unknown pair across the way. Then it dawned on him that the longer he stood there the more awkward the whole thing got for him, “That tears it, by Odin’s beard I’m going over there to see what’s up.” He told himself. So he finally moved into the open clearing towards their makeshift shelter to introduce himself to the, hopefully friendly, people on the log. “HI MY NAME IS VARIN, IF YOU DON’T MIND MAY I JOIN YOU!” the Viking boy managed to spit out. Though after he was done saying it Varin realized he was shouting again and his face turned a slight shade of red as he quickly tacked on “Sorry for the yelling, it happens sometimes.”

Curtis looked outside from the door of his house at the rain falling to the ground. He looked around the area abit, it was quiet. The rain had taken the place of any other noises.
"Where is she.." He muttered to himself. As he said that Silvia walked up beside him and pawed his leg a little a said something. Curtis looked over at her. "This we should go look?" Silvia nodded. "Alright. slity. Stay here. Me and Silvia are going to see if we can find Luna."
Slity looked over at them then layed his head down and fell asleep after Curtis said that. Curtis walked over and opened a chest and took out a long black jacket. He put it on and grabbed his large, dragon engraved sword. He didn't know why he was taking this. Probably just incase. He walked over to the door and walked out. Silvia walked out of the door Aswell before curtis took the handle of the door and shut it.
Curtis and Silvia walked along the forest floor while drops of water slipped down from the canopy about. The rain tring to get through every nook and cranny it can. The forest floor was wet. But not as much as out it the open. The rain was nice. Not like they needed it but in a couple more weeks it would start turning into snow. Curtis didn't mind that. It would just mean he's been on berk for about a year now.
Silvia's ears flew off her head and into the air. Curtis raised his eyebrow and looked over at Silvia. He looked around. "Hear them?" Silvia nodded and started walking to the noise.
not long after Curtis looked over at a small fire with three people around it. Two of them which he had never seen before. But one face stood out to him and that was Luna's. He smiled and walked over to them with Silvia to his side. To the others with his large sword on is hip it might look like he's here to get rid of them. He hopes thats not the impression his gives them when he walks up to them. If it was then he would have to explain just a little.
Curtis looked over at Silvia who by now would of flattened her eats back down. Curtis looks back to the group and nods his head at the other two then at Luna smiling,
"Hello." He said plainly looking at them.

As Redathin began conversing with Luna two more people joined them. One charged in like luna had and the other walked in with more confidence. The first called himself Varin and the other called himself Curtis.
From being alone and cold in the old campsite to being surrounded with new people was a little strange for Redathin. Sure he was used to being in a completely strange place trying to sell goods and receive messages, but these people were his fellow villagers. He should know everyone on the island, but he felt his work had left him knowing no one and having no friends.
Redathin unsheathed his dagger from his left ankle and used a rock lying on the ground to begin sharpening the blade. The others continued in conversation as if they had known each other for years, they probably had. This only worsened Redathin's mood. He had that feeling he had after his mother died and left him, the feeling of being truly alone.
Images flooded his mind of his fathers death, the funeral. Then years later on his birthday his mother died of illness. Leaving him by himself. No family anywhere in the world. All the other people happily with their families. He felt invisible, unwanted, unnoticed. The world seemed to move around him. Redathin looked down to hide his face form the others. He felt tears coming to his eyes and wiped his face with his sleeve.
When he had his emotions under a little more control and he had built up some courage Redathin looked into the fire. "This is a little off for me, usually I'm all alone in places like this. No one has ever stopped or come looking for me because I don't really have any friends here. I'm gone so often people hardy recognize me. It's a hard life, but I've grown to accept it... Do any of you have this feeling like you're missing something, because you left somewhere or someone is gone?"

Varin felt a bitter sting when he heard Redathin’s question, of course he had felt the pain of loss and the uneasiness that came with leaving the place you always knew as home but he never talked about it with anyone. It almost gave him knots in his stomach because many people disliked deserters and that’s what they had labeled him. He looked around the fire at each face that was there before giving his reply. “Yeah, I know how you feel.” Varin said somberly “I lost both of my parents when I was really young and the only one I could really count on to be there for me was my dragon Wavebreaker.” He continued, motioning to the dragon still flittering about the woods in the rain. “Not that you all want to hear my sob story but that’s the reason I left Berk in the first place. I don’t know if any of you know this but I just recently returned to the island myself and its taking time to readjust to it all.” The Viking boy took a moment to think over what he just said before adding “I guess not too many people enjoy the company of an ex-deserter.” Varin tried to make that last comment come off as jokingly as he possibly could he even through in a slight smile at the end. “So what’s the deal with you two?” He asked looking towards Luna and Curtis.

* * * * * * * * * [/color][/SIZe] HERE I AM [/COLOR] [red]A RABBIT HEARTED GIRL[/red]FROZEN IN THE HEADLIGHTS[/center][/b][/i] Luna glanced over at the blonde haired boy who had so loudly introduced himself. He came off as a little strange, not bad just strange. He looked vaguely farmiliar as well. He sat on the other side of Redathin, settling himself on the log. She tried to place his name and face, but could not think of where she'd know him from.
A few minutes later, another person emerged from the thickening rain and trod over to where the three sat around the fire. Luna glanced up at the newcomer and her slightly grim face broke into a smile when she saw who it was. Curtis stood there with Silvia at his heels. Luna scooted over a tad where she say to make more room for him. She patted the space next to her, indicating for him to sit. When he had, she found his hand set on the log between them. She curled her cold little hand around his and rested her head on his shoulder.
Luna looked over at Redathin when he began to speak, posing a question. It was a bit of a strange question to ask, she wondered what had happened to him to cause him ro say such a thing. But she definately knew what it was like. It made her think of her own experiences, except in her case, she had no feelings of regret at all for leaving. Being gone was good, it had made things better for her. She certainly didn't feel any remorse over it or feel as if she was missing something from not dwelling in her homeland.
She heard Varin begin to reply to Redathin's question, but she wasn't really listening. Assuming both were distracted, she looked up at Curtis. She grasped the collor of his shirt, lowering him to he level. She planted a quick kiss on his lips. [red]"Oh and hello, by the way"[/red] she said with a smile.
She jumped a little when she heard Varin direct a question at them. It was kind of a rude way to ask it, not really a rude question, just kind of harsh wording. She hesitates for a moment before saying [red]"Uhm well, we're kind of... Together?"[/red] realizing how awkward it sounded she said [red]"Well not 'kind of' "[/red] She glanced back at Curtis, wondering if he had anything to say on the matter. IT SEEMS I MADE THE FINAL SACRIFICE [/size] THIS OFFERING[/size] * * * * * * * * *[/center][/color][/b][/i] Muse: Yay! It's back! Words: 393 Notes: Don't worry. They weren't making out or anything. Just felt like I should make sure you knew that so you didn't think I was trying to make awkward moments here. WHO'S NEXT? Curtis, that's be you.

Curtis looked at the other two as he sat down beside Luna. He took he sword and placed it to the side of him. Silvia sat beside the fire and laid there.
Curtis looked at Luna and gave her a quick kiss back on the lips. He smiled and looked at the others as one of them asked a question towards them. Curtis was about to say something but Luna already started talking. He didn't care about that.
"We have been together for awhile now." He smiled as he looked over at Luna. Silvia looked up at them for a moment. Her dark violet eyes looking at the couple. She soon turned her gaze to the other two and watched them for a moment before laying her head down and closed her eyes.
Curtis looked over at the other two. "Your two people I have never seen. New to Berk?" He asked looking at them.
The sound of the rain poured down onto the canopy above. trickling down from the leaves and pines onto the ground. Not long after there would be a noise in the bushes. Curtis looked back at the noise and watched for a moment. A pair of Dark blue eyes poped out of the dark and a white figure moved forward to them.
"Clearly you got bored eh bud?" Curtis said as the dragon walked over and rubbed against Curtis. His other dragon Slity walked over and laid down beside Silvia and looked around for a moment before resting his head down.

Redathin sat, thinking of how nice it would be to have someone close. He felt happy for Luna and Curtis and they seemed happy together, but sad because he knew his job would make any relationship more than light friendships impossible. He hardly knew anyone as it was. He was gone so much that he didn't even recognize people form his own village. He felt like wolf in a herd of sheep. This is the life I chose, I knew what the consequences would be, bot positive and negative. I'm not going to let something like this get me down. He looked down and smiled. The rain had finally started to slow enough for Redathin to stay mostly dry on his way home. Tomorrow he could get back to work and fly again, this excited him as much as when he picked his dragon.
Redathin stood up, strapped on his pack and started to walk out of the camp, he paused right on the edged and turned toward the group. "Make sure you put the fire out when you're done. We don't need to burn down the island." Then he turned and started walking away, he waved over his head, "See you round' guys."
