DATE & TIME : 28th August, Early morning WEATHER CONDITIONS : Pleasantly Sunny CHARACTERS INVOLVED : Redathin, Magnus PREVIOUS THREADS ? N.a.
"Careful now, let's try to have one nice landing this run." The dragon Redathin landed rather roughly, enough that if he didn't wear a harness he'd have been thrown off. He unstrapped rorm the dragon and hopped off. So much for soft landings. He glared at the dragon, who responded by making happy snorts at him. Redathin rolled his eyes, "Another good job done," He said patting the dragon.
It was still early so the only people that would be up were the watchmen, and maybe the younger vikings. This gave Redathin an idea. He'd been away for several days and wanted a good challenge to get him back on his feet. He grabbed his pack and walked to the old arena to see if anyone was there.
Luckily enough there was, a small viking practicing archery. Perfect, now I just hope he's willing to challenge a complete stranger. Redathin walked into the arena and approached the boy. "Morning, my name is Redathin, I was wondering if you would consider a little wager."

Magnus looked at this older Viking and chuckled. Was he kidding if Magnus tried to go against him he would lose - badly. Bogbrush climbed up on to his shoulder and burped. Magnus looked at him and said. "Hi I am Magnus and this is Bogbrush." at that the terrible terror open his eyes and looked at the big Viking and yawned. Magnus court on to the yawn. “Like trainer like dragon. We’re usually still in bed now and for the next 6 hours but I couldn’t sleep so I dragged us out of bed to practise.” Magnus laughed. Magnus had been challenged and he couldn’t say no to a challenge. “Ok.” Magnus said “I'll try to hit that door for terrible terros form the entrance with 3 shots if I dont hit it you can have my brekfast but what do I get if I win?” Magnus asked. He nodded at the roply and walked over to the entrance. He loaded an arrow and fired. It missed by an inch. The next one came within centimetres. But the as the last arrow was sawing through the air strait on target a small change in the wind blew Magnus’ arrow, it and ended up in the target that Magnus had been using earlier. Magnus cursed his bad luck for losing. As he walked away Magnus felt bettered. For the next 3 days Magnus tried to hit that door but he never quite could.

Redathin felt sad, no, he felt awful. After the seemingly easy victory against Magnus he couldn't find the boy. While Redathin declined taking Magnus' breakfast, as the younger viking would need it Redathin still felt like he had in some way crushed the boys spirit. When he accepted the challenge he seemed so confident, like he could take on an army of pirates. Redathin had to set this straight. The boy couldn't focus on his loss. It would only lead to deeper pain. Redathin had learned this from self experience and was still struggling with it.
He set out in search of Magnus. He asked different towns people and when that turned up nothing he decided the best place to look was Magnus' home. Redathin knocked and was greeted by Magnus' mother who had a worried look on her face. "Hi... I'm Redathin... is uh Magnus around?" She told him that Magnus had been obsessed with hitting a target for the past three days, but last night he went to bed and hadn't gotten up yet. Redathin sighed, "Is it... alright if I talk to him?" The woman nodded and let Redathin then pointed him upstairs.
Redathin walked into the small room where Magnus sat gazing out the window. "Hey Magnus, do you remember me? I'm Redathin. I just came here to talk that's all." Redathin sighed when Magnus sat like a statue. "You can't let something this small take you down like this. So you lost a challenge, so what. I'm sure if we did that challenge a thousand more times you'd win every single one of em." Redathin turned to walk out, "If you get feeling better come find me, theres something I'd like to give you."

Magnus suddenly felt annoyed. Why would he want to see him again? To humiliate him again well this time it wasn’t going to happen. Just then his mum walked in with a tray of chicken breasts and fresh bread for Magnus plus a cup of hot honey as well as a rat for Bogbrush. "So what did your friend want?" she asked as she put the tray on his knee. Bogbrush pulled out the rat’s liver. Magnus shoved a chicken breast in to his mouth so he didn’t have to talk for bit. "He just wanted to meet up and he's not my friend he's the one that challenged me to hit that target." Magnus explained "But I'm not going." Magnus crossed his arms in a huff as his mum gave him a look of disapproval. "Ok I'll think about it." He said. She ruffled his hair. "Good boy. Finish your breakfast then go to find him." Magnus scowled "I said 'I'll THINK about it.'" he said as his mum shut the door. But Magnus didn’t feel like arguing so he just finished his breakfast and got his clothes on. As he stepped out the door Magnus picked up his bow and quiver just in case. With Bogbrush in tow Magnus set out to find Redathin. First stop the place they met, the dragon training arena.

Redathin waited in the arena for what seemed like hours. Though it had only been a short time he'd started to fall asleep from boredom. His plan was re-challenge the boy and lose so badly that there was no way he could win. When Magnus had lost Redathin saw something leave him, a sort of self worth. Redathin's own experiences with this self doubt had been huge blocks to him before. He didn't want someone else to walk the difficult path he was following.
Redathin stood and picked up a nearby bow. Aiming at one of the targets he shot and missed badly. It was clear he didn't have the talent to get much farther than a novice. Every arrow had struck the edge of the target or the walls surrounding it. It was so bad it was almost laughable. Redathin sighed with discontent, he didn't like being so bad at things. Normally he'd spend hours practicing to get better, but he didn't have a use for such a skill. He never hunted, he ate very little, he was always gone.
He sat back down had started sharpening his knife. His odd habit of sharpening things meant that most of the blades he owned always had sharp edges. Now all he could do is wait and hope Magnus would show.

As Magnus walked in to the dragon training arena he saw Redathin sat in the corner of the arena sharpening his knife. He walked over to him and waited for him to look up. When he finally looked up from his work he re-challenged Magnus to another wager. The young boy looked at him. Was he kidding, he had already taken his pride what more did he want? Ok so if Magnus accepted he could win and get his pride back but if he lost he would be past an all time low he would never be able to show his face in public again. He had to chose wisely. After a while he came to a conclusion. " What's in it for me?" He asked. Without an answer he continued. "Last time you offered me something, this time I want something again. But it's different this time I want some thing that is more than just giving me something I want your ... respect." It might just have been his imagination but Magnus thought that he saw Redathin relax a bit. "So what are we going to do then? I'm up for anything this time!" This time he was ready this time nothing could stop him. He was going to win. Not even an angry Terrible Terror could stop him now. Suddenly Bogbrush burped and squirted a foul smelling liquid all over Magnus. Well maybe it could stop him. "Give me 5 minuets."he said.
