I just saw a really bad movie called "Clash of the Empires"/"Lord of the Elves"/"Age of the Hobbits". That last one was the original title, as the film features neither empires nor elves, and was made to hitch a ride with the succes of the Hobbit film. (It only features hobbuts in the widest sense of the word, as the main characters are dwarf actors that are supposed to look like homo floresiensis, nicknamed hobbits after the Tolkien ones).
However, one thing struck me: the movie fits directly into the world of HTTYD. It features two types of Varan-based dragons of the right size (one of which flies, the other of which is bright orange), as well a woolly rhinoceros that reminds me of the wild boar in Berk and a species of giant spider, colorful enough to count as a dragon in the howtoverse. It also features people using their insufficient technology to fight these monsters one on one and actually standing a chance. If I wouldn't be distracted by the horrible lip synching I could actually pretend this is the same world as HTTYD, just a different location.
So it got me thinking, what other films are like that? Which franchises could a fanfiction make the Berk characters crossover into with the help of no technology more advanced than a trustworthy dragon and a good map, in such a way that everything still feels completely in place? You know, just for fun and giggles, to see what an extremely expended universe could look like. I bet some of you have put a lot more thought into stuff like that than me, so I'm really curious to hear your ideas.
