Ogod watch out an Admin rant, but read anyway because I'd love your opinions:
So recently I've been seeing all these new first timers to the site starting straight away with Wild Dragon characters, trying to get into an RP, not being successful and then just disappear from the site, never to be seen again. It's really kinda sad, because we really do want more people here but they just throw themselves into an insta-corner that makes them not appealing to RP with.
We like Wild Dragon charries, its just that this site is more human orientated. I completely understand why people do this, I rememebr when I was a kid playing Mum's and Dads, *everyone* wants to play the pet dog or something. It's the same here lol, humans are supposedly not as interesting as playing a dragon, since they cant fly and breathe fire and stuff... But even in the Canon franchise, the stories always revolve around the humans, regardless of the dragons.
Another factor is of their Roleplayability. There is very little chance that anyone is going to make some sort of dragon clan or some sort of place where all the dragons live together. Wild Dragons steer clear of the villages, where the majority of characters live unless they go into the forest or the mountains somewhere, and even then, the 'encounter' type of RP's are usually not fun to play (in my opinon anyway), the first time is ok, but for the more experienced RP'ers who've done this a thousand times, it's not as great. It's hard to plot with Wild Dragons, and on a slightly different topic but nontheless important, if people with these non-rpable charries don't come to the Cbox to try find some schemes with other characters, it's going to be even harder to integrate into the forums.
I dont want to sound nasty and completely outright ban making wild characters, because that'd mean that my Scratchet-pie would have to go down the drain too... That character is seriously the only successful wild dragon character, and I even STARTED with Scratchet, so it'd obviously possible to make a good single wild charrie. But the story isn't the same for everyone else it seems.
...I just want to help out the new peeps. It makes me sad to lose fresh new members straight away.
So, what i propose:
I propose an additional rule that newcomers to the site *must* make a human character first before considering making a Wild Dragon, so that when the dragon crashes and burns, they'd have something to fall back on. And maybe have a post number thing like for the NF's before they can make the Lone Dragon, so they can have some real fun with their vikings and get attached to that character... But the post number wont be as big... maybe like at least 25ish posts.
