It was a fairly quiet day in and around Red Rock. Almost as if it was everyone day off from doing their daily activities, it wasn't completely odd when the town had days such as this. There has probably been more days like this since the towns founding then there was people that actually lived in town. But the days weren't completely in vain productivity wise, while the town and the farmers around the town took their days off there was still more bustle then ever at the docks. That seemed to be the one place on Red Rock that never took a break unless no ships were coming or leaving, and that was rare too.
Adkynn had been returning to Red Rock for a visit. It had been months since she left to go live on Berk for the meantime. She needed a little more excitement in her life as nothing very exciting was happening in Red Rock before she left, nor did she think anything happened since she had left. Aside from a few new buildings being put up in the town there didn't seem to be much that changed physically. That's only thing Adkynn didn't like, not seeing a whole lot of progress. She had always hoped that Red Rock would build up more and become a little bigger, maybe just to make her feel like she lived in a productive town that would do great things.
Adkynn had kept Copper back at her home just so she could go wander around on her own as if she was a little kid exploring somewhere they had never been before. As she walked down the cobbled streets of Red Rock she looked around at the buildings as she past them, most of them were houses but occasionally she came across some of the stores in the town. She noticed afew of the guards at their usual posts along the city, not like the town really needed them in the amounts that they had them, not much in the way of crime happened in the town. It was more of a precaution in case something happened.
But as Adkynn turned down a few back streets, where not many people were in the first place. She noticed a few people moving packages and small crates, and the people were in guard uniforms. This got Adkynn's curiosity burning as she hadn't seen this behavior from the guards before. Usually this was something they got others to do for them, but not this time by the looks of it. They hadn't noticed her so she decided to follow them around to see they were gathering their stuff. If it was nothing then she didn't really have to worry about anything but it's better to check it out just in case it was something suspicious.
She kept her distance from the group as they continued to transport their goods along, keeping to the back roads as it had seemed to be. That made Adkynn's suspicion a little more questioning. She kept quiet and slowly followed the group in front of her. It hadn't been long before the group of guards came to an area near the Articul. They had stopped by a quiet old house that Adkynn had never really noticed much before just because it was in the backyard almost of other houses. The house seemed quite quiet to her from the outside. The guards soon opened up a door leading downwards as if the house had an entrance to an underground room. She had waited for the group to disappear into the descending doors before she had approached them.
Adkynn slowly reached down for the handle on the door and lifted it up. She looked around behind her and slipped into the descending stairway and slowly, and quietly shutting the door behind her. As she turned around to look where she was going the way down was lit up by torches. She quietly thought things to herself as she walked down the stairs towards the bottom of the staircase, it wasn't very long either. As she reached the bottom she looked down the hall that continued to head straight. It seemed to run right under the Articul. Was this some sort of an attack and deception of the leaders of Red Rock? Or was there something that was suppose to be kept hidden from the people's eyes.
She heard the voices of people further into the depths of the tunnels. She continued down the hallway as the voices got louder. When she reached the end of the tunnel she came to a large room full of crates and supplies like the guards had been carrying down into the tunnels before. She looked to the side and quickly hid behind some of he crate and listened to the people in the room. They just seemed to be talking about normal things. Until she heard another voice come in.
"Is everything here?" The voice said, she swore she knew that voice too. It was very familiar to her.
"Yes sir. All the supplies are here from the docks. Weapons and all." One of the guards had responded.
"Good. We needed the rest of them. Were still in the midst of planning the rest of the movements." The voice spoke again.
"Right." The guards had collectively responded.
Adkynn thought about it for a moment. The voice and the fact the guards was calling him sir. Had to have been someone higher up in command. It wasn't long before it struck her. It was the voice of the 'secret guard'. She knew about it through some of her friends she had that worked in the group, and the voice it's self she had heard and seen when she was talking to her friends at the time. Supposedly no one outside of the military was suppose to know about it, but Adkynn knew. But all she knew about them was that they were the ones who carried out the more secretive jobs in the Articul.
When she had heard about the weapons she wanted to know more but she wasn't sure whether to come out of hiding and reveal herself. If she did who knew what they would do to her. Likely lock her up so the word of what she had heard doesn't spread around and people begin to know about it. But Adkynn wasn't about to do that anyways. She sat and thought about it for a moment. She listened into the group again.
"We're still looking for some of those stragglers that left Red Rock." The voice spoke to the guards.
Stragglers? What did he mean by stragglers. Does he mean just the people who left because they left or people who left for a specific reason? She thought about if for a moment. Was Sven supposedly a straggler? Who knew. Maybe she was going to be able to get some of her questions answered, aside from her possible jailing.
She slipped out of her hiding place and dusted herself off. Acting quite casually as she did so. She looked over at the guards and the man from which the voice had been coming from. She casually walked forward abit before the guards noticed her.
"Hello boys." Adkynn looked at them with a smirk on her face.
The guards watched Adkynn but didn't move yet until they were given an order to. The man looked at her with a surprised but watchful look.
"How did you get in here girl." The man asked.
"Well you should probably tell your guards here to make themselves a little less noticeable in the future when moving things." She responded with a grin.
The man looked over at the guards and gave them a death glare. Adkynn watched and kept a cool outside on, even though she wasn't too stressed at the moment.
"Now, tell me a little bit about those stragglers of yours." Adkynn stated.
"That's non of your concern girl. Guards." The man spoke. The guards walked over to Adkynn's sides and grabbed both her arms and kept her in place.
She looked over at both of the guards who had now had a grip on her arms. She wasn't going to attempt to free herself because she knew she would just be overwhelmed by the guards. She just looked at the man, still with the smirk on her face. She shifted her eyes gaze a little just to look around the room before returning them to the man.
"Hmm.. Well maybe I'm down here out of curiosity, maybe I followed your men because I might of been wanting to help out." She wasn't entirely lying. She was curious, even more now that she knew they were looking for 'stragglers' from the town. She had no idea why they would really care about a few people running off and doing their own thing away from Red Rock. Unless they had something that the guard wanted from them whether it was an item or something they knew of course, that was the only reason that Adkynn could come up to as to why they cared about them.
The man laughed at her though. "Haha! What would a young lady such as yourself be able to do to possibly help us in our own issues." The man smirked at her as if trying to catch her off guard from her mental thinking.
Adkynn just glared at the man as she thought it through to what exactly she would say and how to word it. "Well. I overheard you speaking about stragglers from Red Rock. There might just be strong possibilities I could possibly of come across afew of these stragglers of yours while I had traveled northward for awhile." She watch the man for a response. But he just kinda stood there seeming to process what she had just said. "I mean, it's not impossible now is it? I would just have to know who it is that your looking for with a name and a description on what they looked like." She added in.
The man looked down at his feet and seemed to continue to think about the offer that Adkynn had put before him. He looked up at her. "The only thing you would get out of this is not being killed for trespassing such secret grounds. Even then we shouldn't let you out of here." The man stated, "But at the same time if what you say is true then you could be of quite abit of help to us in this situation." he added
'So do we have a deal?" Adkynn asked.
"Yes. But your not leaving until we get this done, and we figure out what our leader wants to do with you." The man said.
