DATE & TIME : Morning. September 5th WEATHER CONDITIONS : Cool Overcast CHARACTERS INVOLVED : Sundra, Ulrika, Brynhilder, ViT's, OPEN PREVIOUS THREADS ? None
A cool, cloudy day loomed over Berk this morning while the islands inhabitants went on with their mornings. Sundra would of already made her way out of her house to meet up with Ulrika and Brynhilder at the steps to the grand hall. Supposedly Ulrika had something really, really cool to show them. Sundra just figured it was another one of Ulrika's little jokes again, but again if she did actually have something interesting then it would be worth it.
When Sundra reached the bottom of the stairs, the only people that were around were adults going about their jobs. It seemed like she was going to have to wait around until Ulrika and Brynhilder got here. She figured it wouldn't take too long anyways so she just took a seat on a nearby barrel.
Sundra didn't sit there for long, because she soon saw Ulrika and Brynhilder walking towards her. Ulrika seemed to have a rolled up piece of paper or something in her hands. Why would she have paper? Is there something interesting on that piece of papers because it that's the case, so far Sundra wasn't very impressed.
"Hey guys" Sundra waved her hand over at them and smiled as they came closer. "So Ulrika. What is this completely interesting thing that you have to show us today? Better not be another rock that you think is some ancient relic or something." Sundra smirked at her comment and waited for the younger girl to respond.

Stifling a huge yawn, Bryn made her way over to Sundra, looking - and feeling - exhausted. The young Viking teenager had been up for hours already, out hunting with Shock for the winter stores - and, y'know, to eat, of course. The weather was ideal for it - cool but not cold, with some cloud cover for aerial tracking, the whole nine yards. Sadly, all they'd managed to catch was a couple of rabbits and a half-grown deer with a limp that looked like it had narrowly survived an encounter with a Monstrous Nightmare. Her dragon had dealt with those - the meat was in her house, ready to be either eaten or salted and dried. Most of the preserved food would go to winter stores, but she'd still have a decent chunk of food to eat.
Sitting down heavily on the third stair from the bottom, she looked at Ulrika expectantly. Still, she managed a tired smile when Sundra greeted her.
"Hi Sundra." She said with as much normalcy as she could muster, before returning her attention to the other Viking teen. "This had better be good, Ulrika - especially since I should be sleeping right now." She added, a faint scowl tracing her face as she rolled her neck on her shoulders, trying to loosing it up. The young woman's Skrill, Shock, was the lucky one in this situation, having flown back to the house to catch up on lost sleep. Bryn envied her, but if Ulrika's summons were actually genuine, it would almost certainly be worth it.

Ulrika was excited to show the gang her discovery. She had been unsuccessful for once, but it wasn't due to lack of skill. She had been to busy stalking her prey that she hadn't seen the small chest in the foliage and had face planted upon literally stumbling on it, scaring her game away. The chest was old and she could easily prise it open with her knife, and within it she had found a scroll of vellum with various markings on it. Obviously she had paid no attention to the runic script, but there was an obvious map that the illiterate girl didn't need translating. Back to the present, Ulrika beamed as Bryn and Sundra had heeded her call. The Hysterians had only just left a day or so ago so things had been really quiet recently. Sundra made a jibe at the Ulrika as she arrived at the bottom of the stairway. Ulrika scowled at her. Now she was just making things up! Bryn didn't look all too pleased with the summons either. "Well, go to sleep then, and then you'll be jealous when you wake up because I..." She finally unraveled the scroll. "I found a Treasure Map this morning! Isn't that neat?"There was one thing bugging her, now she had realised it. Her illiteracy was a problem she kept to herself, only people who had been close to Ulrika in the past knew about it. Part of her wasn't bothered if they found out, but with literacy becoming commonplace, Ulrika's pride made her conceal it. And Grima wasn't here, not like he'd translate for her, he was a jerk, but so far he hadn't blarbed to anyone else about it, so she was unsure about whether his absence was a good thing or not. "So, um... Wanna join in on the fun? The Hysterians are gone so Halldor lifted the ban-thing, we can go anywhere now!"
OOC: you might wanna make the thread more open curtisboy dw, fixed it!

Sundra smiled back to Brynhilder and looked back to Ulrika as she stood there and explained that she found a treasure map. Sundra was a little bit skeptical at first and looked at the younger blonde girl. She stood up and walked over and snatched the map from Ulrika's hand.
"Let me see that, You better not be pulling our legs on this" Sundra said as she started scanning over the map. It seemed to have the age that an old treasure map would have and the slight wear on it too. Sundra glanced over at the runic writing and slowly read it over.
"Darkest Chasms? " Sundra said questioningly out loud. " I don't know of any chasms on Berk.. " Sundra furrowed her eyebrows as she continued to read over the rest of the writing. She shook her head abit and handed the map to Brynhilder. "The way the writing is seems tricky and off putting by the looks of it. "
Sundra looked at Ulrika again as she let Brynhilder look over the map. "So you just randomly found a chest in the middle of the forest floor. Doesn't that seem a little odd? Wouldn't someone of found it before you?" Sundra looked back to Brynhilder. "But aside from the point, it does seem real. Plus the runic writing seems a little older style then it is now."
It was nice to finally be able to go out of the village since the ban was lifted. Sundra has been waiting to be able to get back out and hop around and about.

Bryn studied the map over Sundra's shoulder. "Dark chasms..." She mused quietly. "Well, if you're right and the map is actually authentic, then 'dark chasms' would probably be in the mountains. Some cave or crack in the rock, maybe." The young viking suggested. Silently, she wondered exactly how she was going to explain it all to Shock - and if she would be able to catch a quick nap while they were flying to...well, to wherever they were flying to.
Back at Bryn's house, Shock was surprisingly alert. Unbeknownst to Bryn, the Skrill had been able to sleep while the girl was hunting on foot. Hence, her surprising amount of energy. Out of interest, Shock took off and flew over to where Bryn was talking with two others - one she recognized, Ulrika, and another she didn't, who bore some resemblance to Bryn - both looked about the same age, had the same hair, and similar faces. Landing next to Bryn, she snorted a question. "What's this all about? And why is the old paper so important again? I must have missed that part."
Bryn glanced over at her dragon friend. "Treasure map. Supposedly. And shouldn't you be asleep?" She asked. Shock informed her that she'd slept while Bryn was making a chronic screwup of their hunting trip. "Smart-scale." Bryn muttered.

Ulrika almost retorted after Sundra whipped the map out of her hands, but held her tongue. It's not like she could read it, anyway. She watched as Sundra's eyes went back and forth as she studied the scroll.
"Darkest Chasms?" Ulrika glanced to Bryn and back to Sundra. "That sounds pretty awesome. But it could be anywhere, there's lots of caves and stuff..."
Ulrika was cut off as deep wingbeats sounded overhead, and a familiar looking Skrill landed with a loud thud near Bryn. Despite having a dragon of her own now, Ulrika was still in awe at this specimen of dragon. Also since the events of Hysteria, Timbersbane was rather moody towards her. Sven had explained she needed to rebuild the trust she had acquired, but how?
"I was in the really deep thickest parts of the woods, you know, where the grass and stuff is this high. She made a motion around her waistline to indicate the height. Ulrika didn't like it when people contested "D'you think I'd make this kind of thing up?" She answered defensively.
"The mountains are kinda far away on foot..." Ulrika looked to Shock. "It'd be easier to fly there and maybe find it easier from the air."
Ulrika suddenly got excited. "I'll go get my dragon!" And with that she bounded down the stairs back to her house, to try convince the grumpy Timber to come on an adventure.

Sundra watched as the skrill landed with a thud next to the group of girls. When she saw the dragon she felt.. jealousy almost. But not jealousy towards Brynhilder or her dragon. Just jealousy towards herself if that makes any sense. Sundra had always been hard on herself when it came to getting a dragon of her own, but she knew she couldn't rush such a thing and that it would happen in due good time. But this wasn't something Sundra as very keen on, patience. Never had much of it when it came to owning a dragon.
Sundra shook the thought out of her head when she looked back to Ulrika and listened. Thickest part of the forest could of been anywhere on the island half way in. Ulrika probably wasn't making this up, but if she was and she was just gonna waste her time she was surely gonna hunt the blond girl down with her bow.
When Ulrika said she was going to go get her dragon, Sundra stood there quietly. She looked over to Brynhilder and rubbed her arm abit. " If were going to have to fly, do you mind if I hop on with you Bryn? " Sundra asked curiously. Her feet shuffled around abit as she awaited her answer. She didn't know what Ulrika's dragon was like so she didn't really want to take a chance with that, not that it would of mattered anyways.

The sounds of claws tapping the ground were heard from not too far. Soon yellowish orange scales were in sight as well as a familiar mischievous figure. Camo and Venny were out for a stroll of fresh air before a group of kids that she basically knew caught her attention. Smirking, Venny hopped off a confused and irritated Camo as she walked on over to the three. They had some sort of paper there. That must be something interesting, perhaps some blueprints she could steal for her own good?
"Woow, I feel so left out, you invited everyone else but me?" Venny asked, while acting offended and placing a hand on her chest. Giving a toothy grin, she went on. "What are you guys even doing? You're missing out on the next big thing! Which is some new stunts I've been working on!" Camo, who was in the background, slowly shook his head disappointingly.
Glancing and shaking her head back, the ViT turned her attention back to the three. "It still has some kinks we're working out. But I still want in on what ever you guys are doing. What are we doing? Folding papers? Ripping them up? Or even just writing love letters?"
((whoops tripped in sorry))

Ulrika arrived at her house, where a grumpy Night Fury was basking in the sun on the roof. Frankly, Timber hated Ulrika right now. The only thing that kept her in the village right now was the fact that she still felt responsible for the girl's actions, and had yet found a way to repay to the village for the girl's foolish act on Hysteria. But the only solution the dragon could come up with was to model the girl to fit society better. It was the last thing Timber wished to do.
Ulrika waved her arms in the air, trying to get the dragon's attention. "Hey! Heeyy Timber!" She called, to no avail. "I need you on an adventure with me and my classmates!" She tried again. The Night Fury flicked it's ear and moved her head slightly, away from the human.
After the last ordeal, adventure meant an automatic 'no' for the Night Fury. But the fact that Ulrika had mentioned her fellow trainees were joining in on the fun, it started to get the dragon thinking. The others, though also incompetent for the most part, were smarter than Ulrika. She was certain despite the common dislike for the child, they would look out for her, as was such a thing for these social creatures.
Ulrika was droning on in her annoying voice about why the dragon should tag along, and what the point of the expedition was about. It mattered little. But, being a curious dragon, she finally slunk down the tiles and hopped onto the floor with a light thud, investigating Ulrika with slitted pupils.
Ulrika grinned for a moment, thinking that Timber had finally agreed. She made a move to mount the dragon, when Timber snorted and moved away, going around the house to where Smudge was resting.
Fat chance. Go ride a different dragon.
"Awwhh, come ooon Timber! It'll be fun! What's the harm in finding some lost treasure somewhere!" Ulrika whined, trotting behind the dragon.
Smudge raised his head at the commotion that stopped him from his sleep. He saw the new dragon of the household come around the corner in a huff, followed by Ulrika.
"You know, you should probably go with Ulrika on her quest. It would be a good experience. For both of you." He added before Timber could protest. He was an older dragon, and wiser for it. Timber thought about it, pausing briefly. She glanced at Smudge; incapacitated of flight from a war he had spoke to her about. She had already had the debate of the worth of being around humans before, and Smudge had no regrets from his injuries. The humans kept him safe from what would be imminent death in the wild.
Timber was smart, but Smudge was wise. He knew more about humans than she did, and knew a lot more about Ulrika than any other dragon, living with the Weostans. Timber had no choice but to follow what he said.
She snorted again, spitting a small fireball in an empty direction, frustrated. It made Ulrika jump and back away from behind her. "Fine," Timber reluctantly agreed. "Just don't expect any magical changes when we get back.
"I won't. But I can guarantee you'll see each other differently on your return, if only slight. Creating a bond takes time. You know that more than any other dragon, your kind is the most finnicky about it. Loosen up and have some fun, they're just kids. They won't be like that forever. You're lucky."
Timber said nothing more, already defeated. She turned and forcefully nudged Ulrika in the direction of the street. Once in the open area, she let Ulrika finally mount her, and they went to steps of the Grand Hall, where the classmates were listening.
By now Venny had arrived. Ulrika dismounted, and Timber made some distance and began grumbling to herself, completely unenthusiastic.
Ulrika waved to Venny. "Hey Venny! Coming on an Adventure too? We got this treasure map and we're gonna figure it out! Wanna come?"

Sundra had watched as Venny came around to them and starting making some remarks to them about what they were doing. Sundra smirked to herself when she heard the girl say something about 'love letters'. Sundra walked over to Venny with a sassy look in her walk and made her way behind the girl as she ran her hand through the girls hair. " Were writing a love letter to your.. " She leaned close into Venny ad whispered " Little crush ya got. Ahah. " Sundra pulled away and walked back out in front of Venny, she was of course purposely acting the way she was and was of course messing around with Venny. Kind of like she was the popular, mean girl in the group. Sundra waved the paper in front of Venny and continued her little act a little more. " But if you haven't noticed " She inhaled and rolled her eyes. " It's just another ordinary treasure map that Ulrika dug up. " She crossed her arms and checked her nails before looking back to Venny with a smile and giggled at her.
She turned her gaze over to Ulrika when she reappeared to the small group of girls. Sundra pull lightly on the string of the bow that was slung over her shoulders and along her back. " Think your about ready to get going there Ulrika? I don't want to be standing her all day, this treasure map may just take us all day to just even get started at this rate. "

Venny tilted her head in confusion as Sundra came around, there was certainly something odd with her walk she should get that checked out. She was about to say something snarky before her hair was getting messed up. Venny's face got even more confused, and a little flustered. "W-wha?? I have a crush??" The prankster thought about it, if she was talking about that bug she crushed earlier today then that love letter should be some sort of sad crushy one. "Oh, a map. That was buried. That's cool too I guess," she said with a shrug. She didn't know what Sundra's cool act problem was but it was pretty amusing to watch.
Oh sweet Ulrika was here too, this day was getting better and better. "An adventure with a treasure map huh? Hmmm," Venny rubbed her chin in deep thought. To go and risk the trouble of getting killed in action, or get some sweet loot. "Well," she hummed. "I suppose I could spare some time with you guys in solving a puzzle," Venny snickered. "Plus it would be good exercise for me too," she added with a stretch. "You start getting lazy when you're always riding a dragon."

(Sorry, schemingenss here, what if Sundra runs into a dragon on this adventure?)
Ulrika glazed over the banter. "Let's go guys, I can't wait to find this sleepy canyon or whatever it's called!" She went over and climbed onto an unhappy Timber. The dragon rolled her eyes and lifted herself into the sky in a vertical take off, hopefully to surprise Ulrika and make her fall off, but it didn't.
They circled some way up, waiting for the others to rise so they would find this place quickly and go home. Timber felt Ulrika on her back, oddly silent. Timber was beginning to notice a change in the girl when they flew. The way she positioned herself, the way her loud rashness was subdued... It was strange, but she didn't let the thoughts linger for long. She was sort of glad Ulrika wasn't bothersome in the air, it would be a danger for them all.
They soon were all up in the air and they headed towards the mountains. Ulrika looked over to Sundra, who still had the map. [color/green]"What do you think this thing will look like? What are we looking for?"

(( UGHH But I have to figure out what dragon to give Sundra Girl D: ))
Sundra looked over at Ulrika with kind of a odd look as she said "Sleepy Canyon thing." What? Can she not seem a little less childish or something? Sundra shook her head and figured that was less important at the moment. She climbed onto the timber with Ulrika and watched as they took off into the air. Sundra looked over the timber side and smiled as she felt her hair get lifted by the wind, she loved to fly but she didn't exactly have her own dragon. See the problem?
Sundra looked down at the map in which she held tightly so it didn't fly out of her hands, though she wasn't worrying about that too much. She just continued to study it and thoughts came into her head.
" Sleepy canyon... Well when I get sleepy I clearly go somewhere dark and lay down.. Soo maybe the very bottom of the canyon in the dark spots. Just a thought." She replied to the blonde girl, she didn't want to mess with Ulrika when she was the one flying the dragon. You know, when you anger someone flying the dragon you could just get pushed off the dragon. Just a thought of course.

(I'M SORRY DON'T KILL ME)
Bryn nodded in Sundra's direction when the other VIT asked if she could ride with her on Shock. But when Venny showed up...well, things changed. A lot.
Shock snarled low in her throat at the sight of the offensive Sharpblade. Bryn nudged the smoldering dragon with her elbow before standing up tall, eyes narrowed to slits. "Any particular reason you need to join us, Venny?" She asked, voice a little cooler then usual. Beside her, the female Skrill lashed her tail angrily as lightning sparked across her scales. Bryn shot her a glance. Wait. Not yet. Don't fry her now...that would be awkward.
Shock swung her muzzle around to stare at Bryn for a few seconds before snorting derisively and letting the lightning subside. "Fine." She muttered. But I won't wait forever... She added in her head. Bryn snapped her gaze back to Venny, waiting for an answer even as she swung up on Shock and took off with the rest of them.
