STANDING: Viking-in-training
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Heterosexual

PERSONALITY:
Alfrun seems very wise. It’s because she can read people, she can seem like she knows everything, because she can figure out a person’s personality just by watching them walk. She can’t help that appearance, and kind of resents it as it tends to intimidate people. She wouldn’t give up her talent for the world; she just wishes it wasn’t quite so obvious in her demeanor.
She’s a good strategist. It’s like what I said earlier, thinks on her feet, and complicated plans are something she can make on the go. She has also combined this with a bit of distilled technological genius. Her ability for inventing is something she’s very proud of, because it’s the same skill the famous Hiccup had. Her only problem is that when she’s working on something, she can’t really hold it still. She’s looking for a vice-like device that will hold things still and allow her to get back to her favourite activity, helping to make lives better by looking for solutions to problems.
She loves animals, but dragons are her undeniable favorites. It makes her a little sad she couldn’t get one, but she knows the reason and accepts that it’s better she didn’t get one then. If she hadn’t had that accident that cost her hand, which meant she missed the time when most Viking children were getting their dragon, she would never have seen the whole new plethora of problems that needed solving for people who have lost limbs. She still wishes for a dragon, and hopes that one day she’ll find one. She’s already working on a system that would allow for one handed flying dragon riding, justifying it as it’s not even really for her, but it’s a problem she noticed.
OVERALL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Face: Alfrun has quite a long face, which is also slightly angular. Her nose turns up at the end, but almost imperceptibly. She has quite wide brown eyes, with long eyelashes.
Hair: Alfrun has very long black hair. When in twin braids, it's usual style, it reaches just past her waist. She has no bangs, instead has her hair tuck behind her ears and into the braids. There generally is one stray hair that’s too short to go behind her ear, and that falls across her forehead.
Build: Alfrun has a slim build, standing at 5'7", but she is quite leanly muscled. She weighs about 168 pounds. Her right arm, obviously, is slightly more muscled than her left, since that’s the arm she has to use to carry things. She has very long legs, the main cause of her height.
Clothes: Alfrun wears a pair of simple brown pants, and a blue tunic. Said tunic has long, baggy sleeves, and the hem reaches to her mid-thigh. She also wears a pair of brown leather boots with fur around the top. Around her waist lies a brown belt with an iron buckle, and her notebook hanging from a loop of leather at the back. Lastly, a glove adorns her fake hand, because she couldn’t paint it to look like skin.
special markings: Besides the missing hand? Because that’s pretty identifiable. The hand has hings on it, so that it moves semi-naturally and fools people into thinking it's real. She has no way to move it, but she's working on a string mechanism. Without the hand, she weighs about 164 pounds, as it's made of quite a lightweight wood. The problem with this is that it breaks easily if hit hard enough.
HISTORY:
Alfrun grew up in quite a regular hairy hooligan family. She showed an interest in dragons at an early age, which was a good sign for a normal life. Then she started showing an equal interest in mechanics, which was another good sign, but a good sign that she was going to go far. She showed plenty of good signs for her life, even if she could be slightly creepy with her ability to read body language.
Her family were very loving. Godwin was always so proud of his daughter he could burst, and Berra, though she was just as good a parent, was always trying to get Alfrun at least slightly interested in what she was interested in. There was also always uncle Lief, who was a traveller and would tell Alfrun all about the world, and the amazing things in it. He was the main cause of Alfrun's spiking interest in learning and technology. He died of mumps on a voyage when Alfrun was ten.
When she was thirteen, a few days before she was going to get her dragon, she went wandering in Toothless’ Forest, when she found the canyon. She recognised it instantly from the stories she’d heard, and tried to climb down to have a closer look. She hadn’t counted on erosion loosening the rocks around her, so she wasn’t expecting it when one fell on her. She ended up trapped in the canyon, with a rock crushing her hand. She was found eventually, well after dark, and well after she had passed out. The adults who found her decided that her hand couldn’t be saved, so they cut her free by amputating her hand. She awoke three weeks later without a hand, and started trying to adjust.
At first she was upset, thinking she would no longer have a chance to do any of the things she wanted to, and that she now alarmed people because she was so young and already missing a hand. It was the alarm she was causing that finally snapped her out of her self-pity. She decided to do something about it, and, getting some help from her parents, made a wooden hand. She developed this hand further, adding joints in the appropriate places so her hand moved at least slightly realistically. She was very pleased with the result, which no one realised wasn’t real as long as she wore a glove. Doing this forced her to realise that even if she had problems, she could solve them, with much less help than she thought she would need.
PARENTS, FRIENDS, OTHER FAMILY:
Father: Godwin (Often away. May be because he had to amputate her hand and he feels guilty.)
Mother: Berra (At home. Sometimes acts as Alfrun’s other hand.)
Uncle: Leif (Deceased. Just thought I’d mention him.)
WEAPON OF CHOICE: A one handed battleaxe that would normally be used in a pair, but she only uses one. It’s a simple affair, just iron for the blade, and a hardy wood for the handle.
KEYWORD IN RULES: *********
ALIAS: The secret-keeper
AGE: 16.
GENDER: Female.
STANDING: Viking-in-training
SEXUAL ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
LIKES:
- Learning. Whether it’s alone or in a class, she likes to know how the world works.
- Dragons. She may not have one herself, but she adores the creatures.
- Problem solving. She likes to find ways to solve her own and other’s problems with technology. She might not always succeed, but she always tries.
- Observing. Behaviours of dragons, characteristics of people, you name it. She notes things like this down in a small notebook, so she can see what progress she’s made in her ability to spot people’s personality.
- Being sure. She likes to know that she has a plan for whatever happens.
- Planning. In all senses of the word. If she can't build it, she'll scribble down a plan for it. The other sense of the word too, she enjoys coming up with a plan of action, even if she comes up with it as she's carrying it out.
DISLIKES:
- Arrogant people. She hates people who think that their way could not possibly be improved, as she believes everything can be better with enough work put in making it so.
- Problems that can’t be solved with current technology. These frustrate her no end.
- Her hand. It frustrates her that she can’t use that arm for anything, and it makes life a little more difficult.
- Open windows. You wouldn’t believe how many sheets of paper she’s lost to these, before she got a paperweight.
STRENGTHS:
- Her mind. She’s smart, and can come up with complicated plans without slowing down. She also, given the right tools and enough time, can build very useful things.
- Strong stomach. She’s seen more than her share of blood, so it doesn’t really bother her. She’s almost always had worse herself.
- Speed. She’s a fast runner with the right motivation.
- Observation. She can read people well, and is good at spotting a person’s personality by how they act.
- Good liar. Because she has her talent for body language, she also has a talent for hiding her own. She is close to impossible to read.
WEAKNESSES:
- Her hand. This makes her much slower at building than most, as she has to work with only one hand. This also means she can’t do a lot of the things she wants to, like fly on a dragon, or even fight well.
- Can panic. If a wound is actually worse than what she’s had, she’s liable to panic. She doesn’t handle these situations well.
- Stubborn. You say your way is perfect, she will go to hell and back to prove you wrong.
- Holds grudges. Her good opinion, once lost, is lost forever.
FEARS:
- Being a burden. She is deathly afraid that she will have to be helped all her life.
- Never getting a dragon. This makes her worry that she’s different somehow, or that her hand is messing it up. She’s already insecure about the hand, that just makes it worse.
- Being crushed. She’s had quite enough of that, thank you very much.
- Flying insects. They are out to get her, she swears. They divebomb her face.
AMBITIONS:
- To make her hand work. I’ll be honest. This won’t happen, not in a million years. The only movement possible is with string, but she hopes she might at least get a little use out of it.
- To get a dragon of her own. She loves the creatures to death, and she’s got a bit of a problem with making human friends, part and parcel with her ability to read people.
- To make everyone’s lives better. This governs a lot that she does.
- To make sure people with fake or paralyzed limbs are not at a disadvantage. Again, governs a lot that she does.
SECRETS:
- Her left hand is “paralyzed” after an accident in her youth. She can’t move it, she can’t feel it, and she’s annoyed by this. She “wears thin wooden armour on it so she can’t hurt it without realising”.
- That hand? It’s not even there. She wears a fake, wooden hand and tells people who realise she can’t feel it her hand is paralyzed. The paralyzed hand is her cover story, but she doesn’t tell it unless she has to.
