Mitch walked through the forest with Night right behind him. The Night fury followed with an almost bored expression. But as they continued to walk, they got deeper and deeper into the forest. Mitch's eyes scanned the area. He had no idea where e was, or how to get back to the outside of the forest. The trees up above him let little light shine through. There was not enough room for him to hop on Night, let alone enough room for Night to spread his wings and fly out. He stopped walking and leaned against a nearby tree.
Mitch's black hair fell in front of his face as he hung his head. His arms crossed against his black clothing as he stared at the ground. "I finally admit it. Were lost boy." He looked up at his dragon who had sat on it's haunches. He smiled a crooked grin at his dragon as he let out a little laugh. Night looked at his master and followed the smile with his own. His teeth exposed themselves as he let out a laugh. After a couple minutes Mitch walked over to his dragon and patted him on the head. When he took a step to continue walking, his ears picked up the slightest sound.
His body whipped around on alert as he faced where the sound had come from. His hand grasped the hilt of his Stygian Iron sword. Slowly he unsheathed the sword as Night got in a defensive crouched and let out a loud hiss. Mitch's face held a little sneer as he saw a shadowed figure approaching with a dragon. "Who are you and what do you want?" He held the sword out and would use it if necessary.

Dusty was dragging Ryan into another forest. Not surprising. The basic brown had been dragging his human a lot of places as of late. At least it was a forest, so Ryan was sort of in his comfort zone. Well, not really; it wasn't his forest. At least it wasn't like the mountains where there were no trees to run up. He had his usual with him, staff in hand and using it as a walking stick, a sack with food over across his shoulder and a pouch around his waist. In all reality, all that was needed for survival was on him.
Even though it sounded like a lot, it was actually really light and let him move around easily; up trees and everything. Ryan stood still for a moment, listening to the forest to see what it would tell him. Growing up there had made him act semi like an animal; maybe it was why he was so good with animals and dragons, he had no idea. He had almost grown up like one of them. Growing up in the forest had also taught him a lot of things. How to take care of himself, how to occupy himself, how to listen and react to the smallest sound... all those good things.
Only bad thing...? Ryan froze as he heard another human voice that sounded close. Dusty nearly went head first into him. The brown took Ryan's sleeve, as it had done on so many other occasions and tugged him forward. Ryan gave his head a frantic head shake. No way was he going to interact with another person. The last one he had interacted with hadn't gone so well on his standards. Ryan took a shaky step forward, crouching and moving almost silently. His plan? Go around the person. He was almost going to move to the side and zap up a tree when Dusty's paw snapped a twig in half.
That was when things went down hill way fast. For one, Ryan heard and saw the person's head snap right over to both of them. He heard something being taken out... something that sounded like his dad's... it was a weapon, and it looked like a sword. His stomach sank. Great. From Ryan's abrupt stop, Dusty banged into Ryan, sending the boy stumbling forward a few steps towards the human and dragon, but easily regaining his balance. Ryan was close to terrified. All he had was a staff, two spear heads that were in his pouch and zero fighting experience. If this person was looking for a fight, then Ryan was dead meat. He heard a hiss, it sounded like a dragon was with that human.
Hearing the hiss, Dusty gave a slight defensive growl. It took Ryan a couple of seconds to find his vocal cords. "I...I-I d-d-don't w-w-want a-a-anything..." he stammered. This was exactly why Ryan hated Dusty for bringing him out of his comfort zone. The thirteen year old boy eyed the sword, his heart racing. Mitch saw the boy and the dragon more clearly once they stepped out of the trees. Feeling bad since he might have been the one who startled the two, he stood up straight and pointed the sword at the ground. Seeing his owner stand up, Night copied him. His teeth sank back into his gums so he looked toothless. Night eyed the other dragon with curiosity. It had been a long while since he had seen one of these. Yes, they were common in Berk, but not where they were from. After a couple seconds Mitch sheathed the sword once again. He didn't find the boy that big of a threat since he seemed kind of frightened. Night looked from the dragon to the boy wondering what he had in his hand. His head tilted to the side with curiosity.
Mitch looked from dragon to boy hoping that he hadn't made a serious mistake by putting the sword away. He eyed the bag the boy was carrying, wondering what was inside it. "Sorry if I scared you guys. I'm just always on edge when it's quiet." His hand left hand stayed put on the hilt of his sword. His right hung at his side but not for long. Night walked up to his side and pushed his head against Mitch's hand. Mitch absentmindedly started to rub the dragons nose as he stood there. Then remembering that he still didn't know this kid, he shook his head and looked at the ground with a smile on his face. He looked back at the other boy and dragon and walked a couple steps to them.
When he got within hand-shaking distance, he held out his hand. "The names Mitch. Mitchell Frost. This guy over here is Night. Pretty easy to remember. What about you two?" He asked as he waited for the kid to shake or not shake his hand. He eyed the dragon as he was closer. He made movements that would surely not scare it. His turned his head slightly to see that Night had also walked forward. Night looked t the other dragon and opened his mouth to speak. It would sound like a slight easy growl to Mitch and the other human, but he hoped the dragon knew what he was saying. "My names Night. My human is Mitch. Who are you guys?"
The noises in the forest seemed to get slightly louder now that Mitch was talking to someone else. The sixteen year old looked around and noticed that a couple of small birds had flown to the nearby trees. His ears picked up the small tweets that they were making as they saw the two dragons. He still awaited the boy to speak. Though he looked younger than Mitch, he seemed like he was barely a year or two younger. Mitch didn't know what to think of the kid surviving on his own. Even if he was with a dragon, it was still dangerous. If Mitch didn't have his sister and their two dragons, he wouldn't know what they would have done about three years ago when they had needed to get off the island.

Ryan tried forcing himself to calm down. It wasn't working that well; right now he sort of felt on the verge of a heart attack, that was how fast he thought his heart was beating. Dusty made a grumble in his throat and nudged his human's hand in reassurance, his ears laid back slightly. Both the human and dragon infront of them looked sort of like a force to be reckoned with. If they were a threat and looking to fight, both Ryan and Dusty would be going down. For one, the dragon was a Night Fury. Ryan didn't have any fighting knowledge and the Basic Brown couldn't possibly take it down. The older boy had a sword. Once again, no fighting experience on Ryan's end and Dusty's teeth weren't sharp at all. Best the brown could do was tackle the boy, which would probably result in either the boy slicing him up, or the Night Fury attacking him. After a few moments of looking at eachother, the boy put his sword, point down, at his side. Ryan began to shift back and forth nervously, the immediate danger was over, hopefully, that boy could easily pick the sword up and point it at them again. Dusty looked at the Night Fury, whose teeth retracted and relaxed his stance a bit. The brown gave a little grumble from his throat as the older human looked him over, blinking his large and usually gentle eyes. Ryan began to slightly shake, just getting more and more on edge.
A few moments later, the sword was sheathed. Ryan tried to convince himself to relax, but he was still shaking from head to foot, mostly relying on his staff to keep him upright. "I-I-It's o-o-okay..." Ryan stammered. He didn't blame the boy for being on edge when it was quiet. To Ryan, it was normal. He had lived in quiet places his entire life and had just adapted to them. He was on edge when it was noisy, he was comfortable when it was quiet; perhaps this boy wasn't from the same situation. Ryan's grayish eyes darted to the boy's left hand, where it was still resting on the weapon's hilt. Dusty's eyes still had a defensive look in them; even though he knew that he probably couldn't do anything if the situation turned out badly, but at least he was showing that he was supportive and protective of his human. They had bonded quite a bit over the past three months; they had both come a rather long way. As the opposite boy started to walk towards them, Dusty felt Ryan's very slight shift in position and grabbed the boy's sleeve. No one would of been able to see young boy's change, but Dusty had learned how to feel it instead. Ryan had been about to bolt and Dusty knew it. The brown let out a reassuring hurr and tugged, asking the human boy to stay. Ryan looked at him wildly, with an Are you crazy? I'm not staying here, look.
"H-h-hi M-m-mitchell..." Ryan stammered. Then he looked over at the dragon who looked like the other two that Ryan had met only a few hours ago; minus the sapphire markings on one of them. "H-h-hi N-night..." the boy addressed the dragon. He looked back to the boy standing infront of him. Confusion flickering across his face as he stared at the outstretched hand. In response to his human's confusion, Dusty lifted Ryan's sleeve, and hand up, the one that he had grasped in his teeth; he gently let go an inch or two from the other boy's. Ryan caught on, but was still terrified. "I-I-I'm R-ryan...." the boy stammered. Wow, he still remembered his own name. To him, it was sort of a miracle, okay not really; he had been addressed by it for ten years, so sure he would still remember it. He hadn't really used it in a while though, he had told Dusty for one; then he had met another human in the forest before and that had been the first time in three years that an actual person had used his name. "A-a-and t-th-that's D-dusty..." Ryan added, looking over to his Basic brown. The thirteen year old looked at the boy's outstretched hand, elevated his own, and then gave the boy's a quick and nervous shake. The brown hurred in amusement and flicked its ears. "Hello Night, nice to meet you and your human," Dusty hurred respectfully. "I'm Dusty, and my human is Ryan," the brown hurred to the Nigh Fury.OOC: o.O Eep! Mitch shook the kids hand before letting his hand fall to his side. That hand that was on the hilt of his sword also fell. He had let it fall because he could feel the uneasiness emanating from Ryan, and he was eating that having his hand on the hilt of his sword wasn't helping a bit. He nodded his head to both Eyan and Dusty before speaking again. "Well it's nice to meet someone else out here." He said as he gestured to the trees and other wildlife around them as he lifted his arms in an almost exaggerated manner. As he let his arms drop again, he finally took in what Ryan was holding and the pouch that he had. Feeling curiosity taking the best of him he motioned towards the bag with his head. "What's in the bag?" It wasn't really his fault that he asked Ryan what he had in the bag. Curiosity always got the best of him whenever he met someone knew. He had been like that ever since he was a young kid. While his sister had thought he would grow out of it, to her surprise he never did.
Night looked at the Basic Brown and tilted his head. "If you don't mind me asking, what type of dragon are you? Where I came from, your breed must not have shown itself." He looked back to Mitch and Ryan and saw that Mitch was starting to ask questions. He gave a gurgled laugh before shaking his head slightly. Here we go again with all the questions. The Night Fury thought to itself as he turned back towards Dusty. He looked the basic brown over wondering what its special abilities were and what fire it could breathe if it could breathe fire at all. Luckily though, that was one difference that e had from Mitch. He hardly asked questions, and when he disgust were just your everyday average questions that one would really need to know or were really wanting to be asked by the Fury.
Mitch looked over to the dragons in time to see Nights head turn back to what seemed like a conversation between the two dragons. He shook his head side to side before turning back towards Ryan. "Don't you wish that we could somehow know what they are saying and thinking." He gave a slight yawn before blinking a couple times. He had hardly gotten a wink of sleep the night before. What with his sister going back and forth trying to keep the fire alive without the aid of her dragon. Then when she would leave to go get more kindling Mitch would have either Night or Fireworm, his sister Monstrous Nightmare, throw a small flame ball at the wood. Of course, lying to his sister had gotten easier over their years of living together while trying to find Berk.

Ryan relaxed a bit as he saw the opposite boy take his hand off the hilt of the sword; at least he wasn't posing as much as a threat now. Dusty gave a slight purr and nudged his human's hand reassuringly. He gave a curious hurr, shaking his head. How odd his human acted around his own sort. Unlike his boy, the dragon liked this boy and his dragon. He wasn't wary of them at all now; they seemed friendly enough. Ryan gave a shaky smile to the older boy. He wasn't the best with actual people, mostly because he had never really been exposed to his own kind a lot. True, he had had his mother and father for most of his life, but that was it. Other than that, he had just had the forest animals. In some sort of sense, the forest had adopted him and Ryan knew it like it was his own village.
The boy nodded. "Y-y-yes... i-i-it i-is..." he stammered. He sighed internally, wishing he could get over stammering like a fool. He often wondered how many other people were around here, but he had never seen them. The thirteen year old looked at his bag as the boy asked about it. "O-oh... j-just s-some f-f-food a-and h-h-herbs..." he said quietly. He wondered if others did it as well, carry the necessities around; Ryan just did it because as of late, he had been moving around a lot. "A-and t-this j-just h-has s-spear h-heads..." Ryan added, lifting up his small pouch around his waist.
The Brown smiled at the Night Fury, he liked this dragon. He seemed nice. "I don't mind at all," Dusty laughed. "I'm a Basic Brown," he hurred. "Mostly stick to the ground and plants." The dragon flicked his ears, wondering where the Night Fury had come from where Basic Browns hadn't shown themselves. They were rather common, a bit rare not to come across one. "I have heard stories about your type, but I have never really seen one with a human," the Brown remarked. He had seen those other two Night Furies, but both without owners. For some reason, after seeing those two, he had thought that Night Furies were untamable or something.
As sounds started to come form both Dusty and Night, Ryan's head went to look at them, as did the other boy's, as he noticed from the corner of his blue grey eyes. "Y-yes..." he sighed wistfully. Being able to understand Dusty would of been awesome. True, Ryan could understand his dragon to an extent, but that extent went to Dusty's body language. That went for all animals. Since he had grown up with the forest, he sort of became aware of how an animal was feeling through its twitches and whatnot. Ryan looked at the boy, wondering if he was from a settlement or if he, like Ryan, was an Outsider.OOC: Sorry for the wait Character Name: Ryan Simons//Dusty Mood: Friendly, Happy//Scared, Calming Down To: Mitchell the Outsider and Night the Night Fury IC Word Count: 516 Made By: Ellie Brigid at Olympian Prophecy

Being the son of an old cheif from where he was from, he had gotten used to people. Even though he hadn't really been near others besides his sister and their two dragons, he had never gotten scared of others or dragons. He was always a real easy person to talk to, and he wondered with Ryan stammered so much when he heard Ryan answer his questions about the pouch and the dragons, he turned back to him. "I sort of use a similar thing to carry my random items and clothes. See. " He lifted the flap that hung on Nights back from the saddle that Mitch sat on. It was a simple leather seat that was big enough to fit under Mitch and then hang down to have pockets that held food, clothes, etc.
Night nodded his head to Dustys answer. "That name sounds familiar. I think I have heard of your breed from other dragons. I have only seen very few others like me that hang with humans. I don't know why though. I find it to be very fun. What do you think? Or should I say, how did you and Ryan meet?" He turned his head to look at Mitch as he saw the boy lift the leather seat flap to reveal the bags that held everything the human needed plus a bag of fish for Night for emergencies. Of course the leather tended to keep the fish cold and it didn't smell at all. When the leather was dropped again, Night turned back to Dusty as Mitch patted the dragon on the side.
Mitch smiled and looked at his dragon before turning back to Ryan. "It makes everything neater, and it's very lift weight. I think it weighs around 4 pounds. Night doesn't seem to mind it very much either." Mitch continued to let his arms dangle but after a but he figured they needed to get out of the forest soon. Mitch looked sheepish when he spoke next. His right hand rubbed the back of his neck in a nervous habit and then he folded his arms. He eyes looked around the forest and then his eyes landed in turn on each of the dragons and finally on Ryan. "Do you happen to know how to get out of here? We..." Night flicked him in the back with his tail and glared at Mitch knowing it was not he who got them lost. Mitch looked apologetically at Night. "I mean, I got us lost in this forest."

Ryan was still trying to get comfortable around other people. He had once dreamed of trying to find a small settlement. The boy just needed to get used to people little by little. Starting to meet them out here and talk was helping a little bit. He took a look at the boy's dragon. It looked like the two he had met previously. That sparked a question. "W-w-what t-t-type o-of dr-dragon i-is N-night...?" the young boy asked quietly. "I-i-if you d-don't m-mind m-m-me a-asking th-that is...." he added after a few seconds. His face burned slightly red and he shuffled his feet. He looked up at the boy as he said that he did something similar. Ryan nodded. "R-r-rather u-u-useful..." he agreed shakily.
The Brown gave a good natured laugh. "As I have heard of you," he hurred back. "Many stories my mother and father told me about your kind," he purred. Dusty had remembered admiring and even fearing the Night Furies. So powerful and majestic... "Yes, I have met two free ones," he remembered. "Dragons are still being tamed by humans, but still some remain to the old ways," he said thoughtfully. He nodded. "Yes, it is rather fun to have human company, even though I doubt he understands a word I say to him," he laughed. "I mostly have to go with body language with him, he catches on pretty alright though." His tail swept the ground and his ears flicked. "I was hanging around a cave and Ryan stumbled in on me I guess... I'm not sure how long he had been staring at me, but it seemed like he had been there for a while. When I looked up, think he thought I was going to eat him or something," he said, purring in amusement. "How did you meet your human?" he asked in turn.
The boy gave his head a nod. It was good when something could allow you to function normally. He looked at both dragons, wishing he knew what they were saying. It would of been so cool if he knew. Ryan gave has head a shake "N-no..." he said, quietly. "W-w-we w-were e-exporing a-abit... th-this f-forest i-is n-n-new t-to m-me t-to..." Ryan was sure that they could find their way out. It would just take a bit of time. Besides, after ever forest they had gone into, after a few hours of team work, they had managed to get out safe and sound. "W-where d-do y-y-you n-need t-to g-go...?" he asked, already looking around for a tree he could climb up.OOC: Super sorry that took so long! Mitch smiled and nodded when the boy spoke again. He wondered why the kid stuttered so much. Usually by now, someone would've stopped bring nervous. But when Mitch counted in the fact that this kid looked young, and seemed to be on his own he nodded. Being young and surviving on his own was probably ruff. Mitch thought it was hard enough, and he was 16, and was with his sister. Ryan seemed to have no other human with him. He looked at the dragons and then back at Ryan when he heard the question about the breed of the dragon. His mind flicked to thinking again. Weren't Night Furies a commonly known breed. Of course they were rare to see, but he thought at least people knew about them. "Yeah. I don't mind. He's a Night Fury. The hidden demons of the night. As my sister likes to say." He paused to think for a second. "What about Dusty? What breed is he?"
Night gave a small gargle laugh at Dusty's story. "Mitch relies a lot on my body language too. That's why I flicked him a second ago. I think he was about to tell Ryan that we got lost, when it was really he who got us lost." His eyes flicked to his boy as he teeth elongated, retracted, and elongated again. His mind flicked back to the day when he first met Mitchell. Of course it had been quite a while ago, and it was a little hazy, but he thought he remembered it. "Actually, it was a little more dramatic than yours. I was out flying in the woods near the humans homes. I could hear cheering and could see fire, but didn't want to get too close. Where we came from, dragons and humans still fought each other. It's far away from here. At least a year of flying brought us here. Well, I guess they were celebrating Mitch's birthday, because a few minutes after the celebration had begun, he came running into the forest. I tried to get to a higher tree so that he wouldn't see me. But of course I spread my wings to late and knocked him in the head with force when I pushed off the ground."
Night smiled and shook his head as he finally started to remember what had happened. "Well, there were a couple dragons that were against fighting the humans. We thought it was stupid. Of course I was one of them. So when the boy had fallen to the ground, I had stayed by his side to make sure that no other dragon came and harmed him if they came across him. After an hour, he had started to open his eyes. I could hear the village start to realize that the star of the party was gone. One girls voice stuck out and said that she would look in the forest. I started to back off not wanting to be found and possibly killed. Of course Mitch heard the movement and had opened his eyes. He was startled seeing a Night Fury so close to him that he swung out his sword. That sudden movement scared me and i had opened my maw to spray him with fire. A couple seconds later his sister popped out of the sky sitting on one of the dragons that was also against fighting humans. None of us had known she had gotten a human though. The Monstrous Nightmare told me that they were both good people. She convinced me to stay with them and help them out." Night took a deep breath. That was a longer story than he had remembered it to be. "Sorry about that. I didn't realize it was so long. I won't tell you what happened a year later though. At least not now. It is a little longer story."
Mitch tilted his head, wondering what Ryan was looking for. "Anywhere but in here. We've been in here for hours trying to find a way out. We came in here for a few minutes to get away from the sun and couldn't find our way back out." Looking around, he saw that the dragons were in deep conversation. He had heard that humans could learn to speak dragonese, but Mitch wouldn't have the patience to do that. "So, what are you looking for?"

Ryan shifted, he was almost certain that this boy wouldn't just attack him but for some reason, he still couldn't stop stuttering. The other boy looked older than him and had pulled a weapon, but Ryan was sure that had just been for defense. He began to wonder if it was just him and his dragon or if he had another human with him. Ryan had spent a few months, close to a year on his own, so his human contact had been very limited. "O-o-oh..." he stammered, looking over once more to the boy's dragon. "I-I-I've s-s-seen o-oth-others th-that l-look l-like h-him..." the boy decided to say. He had seen those two.
One a male, the other a female with pretty sapphire markings. Hidden demons of the night, huh? A mental image of the two, powerful black dragons came into Ryan's head. The way they charged and became angry; the way the wild fire had lit up their eyes. Then he looked over at Night; tamed by the boy that he had just met. "S-so i-is th-that w-where y-you g-got h-his n-name fr-from?" Ryan looked at the boy curiously. "O-o-oh... y-you h-have a-a si-sibling... t-th-that's n-nice..." he said quietly. So this older boy hadn't been alone. He was with his sister, but had just gotten a bit lost. "I..." Ryan looked down, blushing slightly. "I-I d-d-don't k-kn-know t-to b-be h-honest..." the thirteen year old said quietly.
Dusty laughed. "Blame it on the dragon, huh?" he hurred in amusement. "So what were you two doing out here? Just exploring? The forests are rather fun to look around in... just as long as you guys know where you're headed," he laughed. "I'm guessing you got stuck on that part," he purred teasingly. The Basic Brown tilted its head and listened to the Night Fury's tale. "Ah," Dusty said, nodding his smaller scaled head. "I see.... there are still humans who do resent us," Dusty hurred, shaking his head sadly. "It is good to know that we have some human on our side and dragons that do not hold the grudges and see reason..." the brown purred. He looked over at Mitch. "So his sister's dragon is that Monstrous Nightmare then?" he inquired. Dusty laughed. "No problem, it was a rather interesting tale," he purred.
The boy tilted his head just slightly to look at Mitch. "A-and th-the t-trees a-are t-too c-close t-together t-to fl-fly o-out?" he asked, looking upwards. Maybe to tight to fly out of, but Ryan could try climbing. His grey-blue eyes casted around for a good tree. While his gaze was sweeping around, he looked at the two dragons. They seemed to be talking well and getting along. Ryan really wanted to learn how to talk and understand Dusty, right now, all they had was body language communication. "O-o-oh...." Ryan said, looking back to the boy. "A-a t-tr-tree...." Ryan's gaze finally landed on a good one with a few foot holds. He sized it up, then went over to it and started climbing.OOC: O.O Holy StarClan in the night sky...
