Slode dangled his legs over the dock, vest strewn of the planks behind him. It was a pleasantly warm day, and by that I mean, it wasn't hailing or snowing and the sun was almost visible from out behind a thick layer of clouds. Slode knew he was supposed to be over-seeing the loading of a trading ship, 'The Scallion', but, as far as he was concerned, the crew seemed to be doing a good enough job on their own. He barely ever got to spend any time with Kalithra anymore, what with his "Viking' responsibilities and everything. He knew it was all just a big joke; no-one REALLY wanted him doing the real dangerous things, and so, he was given the easy jobs.
Kalithra had her great head rested on the dock beside her rider, his hand scratching the scales behind her ears. She worried about him when he brooded like this; it wasn't healthy for a human to be so down-trodden, even SHE knew that. But she just couldn't get him to smile!
On Slode's other side a big bucket of cod sat, and he intermediatly threw a fish to his dragon. But the bucket was running on empty now, and Slode's legs were falling alsleep, and he figured he'd better get back to 'work'. But just as he stood, his Viking helmet slipped off his head and into the water beside Kalithra. Of course Kalithra fished it back out for him, but when he plopped it back onto his head, the water splashed down over his face, and drenched his head.
"Great," he mumbled, wiping water off his brow. "I hope to Thor no-one sees me like this..." but he had no such luck; just as he turned around to get back to 'The Scallion', he bumped into someone, scattering water dropplets all over them.
"Oh, Gods, sorry!" he stammered, trying to brush his water-soaked bangs out of his face to get a look at who he'd bumped into.
