The Ghost breathed almost silently as he scaled the great rocky mountainface before him. His hands found all the handholds, feet doing the same as he quickly clambered upwards. He took in a short breath as he rested for just a moment, before scaling over the edge of the cliff.
Ghost rolled onto his back, panting softly as he pulled down his mask and cowl; a very rare occasion, even when 'alone'. His semi-long, jet black hair rested on his forehead and the rocky ground around him as he let his body regenerate some vigor.
The Ghost rolled up onto his feet and kept his cowl and mask off, breathing in the fresh, crisp morning air of his daily climb. A slight breeze caressed the frame of his body as he stood there in his own silence, as if awaiting someone.

The crisp morning air was refreshing to Winter as he soared, the tatters in his wing were almost healed and all patched up to allow him to fly if needed and did he fly. Red-violet eyes looked down to the mountain, spotting the black cloaked figure that was climbing to the top.
Releasing an exited flame, Winter literally spun around in mid-air to drop, his wings tucking in as he became streamlined to shoot down faster. Un-tucking his wings allowed him to start spinning before he tucked them back in.
His wings shot out, his flight being stopped abruptly. Lightly flapping his wings still created big gusts as he landed on the mountain. Folding his wings in, Winter walked up to Ghost and pressed the top of his head lightly against Ghost’s bare face, churring slightly in happiness as a slight smile pulled at his lips.

Ghost turned just in time to plant his feet a bit better, rubbing the dragon's head. It was the same dragon that had crashed back in the village, apparently healed up mostly by now. Fairly quick, too. "Hello, boy," he said, the corners of his lips twitching as he tried to smile. Yet he still found it impossible, having been too long since his last... well. Moment of any happiness at all.
"Quick healer... good for you," he said softly, patting Wjnter's head.

Winter churred again, his snake like tongue flicking against Ghost's check. His red-violet eyes were brighter then they had ever been before and it was all because of this human. He wanted to be with this human for as long as they both lived and hoped the other would want to have him too.
Winter's claws dug into the mountain in a kneading like fashion, acting like an oversized cat. The churring in his throat sounded much like a purr but it didn't bother him much.

Even though Ghost could not smile very... well, even though he couldn't smile, he couldstill blush lightly and rub the side of the dragon's head. He leaned a bit against the beast. Normally, a being like this would scare most of anyone. But not Ghost. The Ghost had seen his share of... sights in his life. Things like this no longer frightened him. Heck, Winter actually comforted him more than frightened.
...and that was a longing he had had for much too large a time.
"Good boy... I think we could get along well like this. It's been... much too long since I've even spoken for... anything."

Winter smiled as Ghost leaned against him and spoke to him, manuevering himself to lay down, Winter gently pulled Ghost to lay on his open palm before laying his head down, half-lidded eyes watching the sun rise higher in the sky and Ghost.
He felt so content like this, the morning rays were bathing his red scales in a light heat, it would be the best he would get from sunbathing as he had yet to find a volcano anywhere on Berk. Half dosed off, Winter twisted his neck so his head was now supported by his horns, a strange sight to see as only his neck was turned and the rest of his body wasn't.

Ghost stayed with him, lying there and watching Winter. He would occasionally glance to the riding sun, but mostly just focusing on the great dragon before him. "You and I... I think we'd make a great team." He nodded slightly for his own confirmation, rubbing the dragon's head.
The Ghost relaxed in the presence of Winter, feeling that no harm could come to him. And he was probably right.

It was nice to relax and actually be by a human, but the scars of his past still haunted him. As comforting as this morning was with Ghost, Winter couldn't shake the fear that something was going to happen to him, Ghost would be fine but he himself would be hurt and he didn't want that.
Winter knew he wouldn't be able to snag a morning nap and instead lay awake with eyes open, waiting for the sun to reach the afternoon point so he could go hunting and maybe bring Ghost along. His tail swished slightly at the happy thought before wrapping around his leg as dark thoughts crush it once again. Winter made a destressed sound, his wings opening and closing to his mood.

Ghost sighed softly and rested himself against Winter, watching the sun slowly. With the language barrier, he had nothing to say now. Not that Winter would be able to really understand if he DID, in that case. He looked up as the dragon made a slightly distressed noise, almost akin to a whine. Yet the rest of him seemed glad.
"What's wrong boy...?" he asked quietly, looking up at the dragon. He rubbed over the side of his scaly head, before slipping a hand along his smooth horn.

Winter stayed silent after that besides the low grumbling within his throat. His red-violet eyes were trained on the sky to intently to be just an approving look.
Smoke escaped his slightly parted mouth, quickly blown away by the wind, as a strange burning scent wafted up his nostrils. Winter stood up, lifting his head to try to spot where the smell may be coming from, but with no luck.
He crouched down, wings spreading out at an upward angle, tail swishing as he prepared himself to lift off. With a growl toward Ghost, Winter started to flap his wings to get air circulating underneath.

Ghost slowly stood as the dragon seemed to get a bit tense over something. While Ghost could not smell anything, due to his not-so-keen sense of smell; he could tell the dragon was being upset by something. The boy ran a hand along the dragon's flank, sliding along his scales.
Ghost felt air circulating beneath Winter's wings, and the beast getting into an almost... crouching position. He blinked as he got the gist of the idea; flight. The male gulped and let off a soft breath. If anything, this was the one thing he was nervous about, or slightly afraid of. "Are you... sure?"

Winter nodded his head, getting the reason why Ghost hesitated and the pause in his speaking. He would make sure Ghost went unhurt, but he didn't want to leave him to climb back down and if the smoke he smelt would cause problems to the vikings, someone would have to tell them.
Red-violet eyes searched the area in front of him to see if he could spot any smoke but had no such luck. Churring again in irritation, Winter clanked his teeth together so Ghost would just get on.

Ghost nodded softly and with nimble feet, leapt up to the dragon's back. He scooted forward until he could hold to the base of Winter's wings, which seemed stable enough. However, feeling a fear still, he moved closer to the beast's head, holding onto his horns, wrapping his legs gingerly around his neck.
He patted the side of the dragon's head, nodding.

As soon as Ghost was situated, Winter took off faster then he could blink. The wind rushed passed them as they fell, the dragons wings tucked in slightly. Just when it seemed they were about to hit the water, Winter swung up, his large wings beating as he took them higher.
Soon enough they were high in the sky, the water rippling beneath them with each powerful flap of Winter's wings. He kept from doing anything that would scare Ghost more and instead flew in a strait line toward the smell of smoke.

Ghost trembled softly within his own skin as they neared the water and just barely pulled up, sighing with relief. He closed his eyes and laid his head against Winter's, trying to relax among the winds. He wasn't used to this mode of traveling, much less to the speed or height involved.
Ghost rubbed Winter's neck slowly for his own reassurance, feeling slightly calmed. He did not know where the dragon was headed, or why for that matter; but somehow he knew Winter would keep him safe. The male rested along the dragon's neck, melting into the flight.
