Today Scratchet was high up above the island, trying to practice some stunts. She was honestly envious how other dragons like Night Furies and other aerial-adept dragons were capable of such maneuvers with little or no effort at all. Unfortunately for Scratchet, being a Deadly Nadder, she was not anatomically built for such stunts. She was still determined, however.
So here she was, high up in the sky in case she needs the time to recover from falling out of the air, which happened often. Hovering was almost easy enough - she just had to hold her head back and only propel her upwards, kind of like how a human treads water. Of course she had difficulty in this too - a consultation with a Gronckle had somewhat helped, but she still had a tendency of just flying vertically instead of staying put.
She attempted some barrel rolls; as soon as she was on her back she dropped out of the sky like a stone, catching herself as the air streaming past her made her flip over again. Loop-the-loops were no different. At the highest point she would tumble as if there was an invisible wall.
Circling lazily on a thermal current around her practice zone, she grumbled in frustration. She'd been at this for hours and she was getting nowhere. "RRgghh! I'll never get this!" She began to think of all the possibilities that would help her get better. She wondered if she should try and find some other dragons unable to pull off tricks and see whether they knew something.
Just then a brilliant orange Zippleback flew below her. "Hey! You! Do you know how to do any stunts?" Scratchet cried over the winds at the two-headed dragon. They both looked up at the turquoise Nadder, diverting their path towards Scratchet. Now sharing the thermal current, the Zippleback could now reply:
"Our wings are ssssmaller than yourssss." Hissed the first head.
"We only use our wingsss to get around. Sssstunts are of no usssee to us as we do not hunt in the air." The second head continued.
"Don't wassste your time on sssuch useless tricksss... It bearss no consssolation." The first head finished. With an annoyed puff of gas for wasting their time, the Zippleback left the thermal and descended back onto their flight path.
Scratchet wasn't fazed by the disapproval of the passing dragon. She'd find a dragon that would be willing to help her, even if only a little.
