Sven and Hermes drifted lazily through the air currents. It was a fine day today and conditions were perfect for flying. Through the clouds a new island emerged from beneath fluffy clouds.
Land Ho! Hermes shouted over the winds to Sven, signaling the island below. Smoke appeared to be rising from a part of the island - fire in most cases meant civilisation. Sven sat himself back upright from the sleek black scales of the dragon. He knew the dragon had better eyesight, but he could soon distinguish the patch of green below, along with huge mountains, ravines and forests that marked it out amongst the endless blue.
"Brilliant!" Sven replied. "Let's get down there and get some supplies!"They reached the island quickly enough. They were surprised to find the surrounding area teeming with dragon activity. Sven's eyes opened wide at the site.
"Whoa, Hermes, I think we're going to be here a while, I have to see all these dragons!" He was beginning to get giddy at the sight, the young dragonologist eager to get started on studying these wonderful species. Hermes chuckled at his enthusiasm.
"Fine by me." Hermes flew towards the smoke, revealing a fairly large town. The dragons appeared to be co-existing with the residents, so Hermes felt no risk at landing near the outskirts of the village. As soon as Sven had dismounted and unsaddled Hermes, she promptly turned to leave. "See you soon, I'm going to have a look around myself. And with that, Hermes was gone.
Sven was used to Hermes disappearing like that - she was a very independent dragon and liked to do her own things. He trusted her, he knew he wouldn't leave him behind on this island.
So he casually walked into the center of the town, investigating the residents. There were vikings here too - he had gotten used to their culture now so was slightly wary whether they would be aggressive or not. Some turned their heads at him - obviously not a familiar face around these parts. At the sight of a small pack of terrible terror fly over head, Sven had whipped out his notebook like lighting and immediately began sketching and taking notes. He wondered if the vikings around these parts knew their dragons well, and if they would impart their knowledge onto him.

Luna woke up on a normal morning. She got dressed, ate something quickly and fed her two dragons, snip and snatcher before tidying up a bit. She had a nest of zippleback eggs in her back room at the moment. She needed to keep an eye on them, they were due to hatch soon. She needed to get a few things from town though- some fish, some bread and a few other things. She decided to leave snip at home, she was smart enough to come get her if the eggs started to hatch. She grabbed her bag and went to check on the eggs one more time before she left. She walked into the room and saw the nest-like structure made of hay that she had set the eggs in with the eggs in it unchanged from where she had left them the previous night. She ran her hand over the surface of one of the two large eggs, it was warm just like it should be, and the other was the same. She smiled and got up and left the room. She told snip to stay there, which she did obediently before Luna called snatcher to follow her which he did and Luna and snatcher walked out the door. Luna walked down the street with her small brown and red dragon at her heels. She made it into the main square. She payed for some fish and and got some bread. After she was finished with her shopping, she put her bag over her chest and on her shoulder before whistling for snatcher who came towards her. He landed by her feet and she leaned down and scratched under his chin. She told him to follow her and Luna began to walk. She decided to take a different route home. As she walked along the streets, she saw a person who was looking around himself with wide eyes. He didn't seem to know his way around. Luna didn't like going up to strangers, or anyone for that matter. But he seemed interested in the dragons, and he might be interesting to talk with. By the looks of his clothes, he had come a long way. She walked up to him cautiously and waited for him to look up from a book he was scribbling in and look at her before saying "hi, I'm Luna. I'm the dragon healer here. You look like you've come a long way. What's your name?" and smiled shyly

Sven sensed the the young girl approach him. Finishing his sentence on describing how the Terrible Terror appeared to travel in packs, he looked up from his notebook and put it away in his pocket. This girl appeared to be in her teens. She had some fish and bread in a bag slung over her shoulder, and appeared very inquisitive. Another of the same species that flew overhead was at her heels, Sven assuming it to be the girl's pet.
He smiled as she introduced herself. Wherever he went, the younger generations were always the friendliest of folk. "Hello there Luna, I'm Sven." He too, was intrigued that she claimed to be a dragon healer, maybe she would know a lot about the creatures around here. That would have to wait however, he had priorities.
"Yes, I have come a long way. This is the first sight of land in a while." He eyed her food. Sven hadn't eaten anything fresh for days now, relying on dried fruits and salted meats. "Would you be so kind as to show me around the village? I would like to get some supplies and maybe fix my saddle, as well." He proceeded to show the wear of the leather straps on the saddle, and nails that had come loose. A black slender scale had embedded itself into the underside of the saddle, the sharp pointed end piercing the leather like a knife.
"Ah..." Pulling out the scale, which was about the length of his palm, he inspected the saddle once more. It was going to need a lot more work to it than he had anticipated.

Luna smiled "hello, Sven." she said after he introduced himself. She nodded He said he'd come a long way. He asked to be shown around. " sure. Hmmmm. I don't know where you would get that repaired. Blacksmith maybe? she said looking the saddle over. She didn't ride a dragon and therefore didnt have a saddle that would need repairing so she didn't know. " do you mind if we stop by my house first? I need to leave some of this stuff There, and there's something I need to check on. It's not far from here. he nodded and she began to walk towards her house. She glanced behind her to make sure snatcher and Sven were following. They were. Sven looked around the village with wide eyes, taking in all the new sights. She smirked, that's the way she had been when she arrived five years ago. She wondered what he had been writing in that book. After a few more minutes of walking they arrived at her house. "well here we are...this is my house." she said as she opened the door and he walked in. She stepped into her main room, where she kept her herbs hanging from the low rafters.she could stand on a stool to reach any of them. She walked over to her counter and put her food down. Her small purple and orange dragon, snip cam scampering over to Luna and snatcher. "hi snip! she said patting her head. "Sven, this is my other dragon, snip" luma said motioning to the terrible terror.

Sven agreed to follow her, whipping out his notebook again behind her as he started to roughly sketch out the layout of the village, and some more information on the Terrible Terror. He pocketed it once again out of respect once they had arrived, and came inside her house.
"This is a nice place you have here," He said, spying upon the herbs. He knew a lot about their purposes since he had begun traveling, proving them to be incredibly useful. He noted some of the rare herbs as well. "Did you find all these herbs around this area?" He asked out of interest.
Another terrible terror appeared, this one a different colour to the previous one. They both seemed to live in the same household. "Well hello there," He began to speak in dragonese, squatting down to scratch the little beast under the chin. Getting back up, he turned to Luna who was busy storing her supplies.
"Would you mind telling me what this type of dragon is called in these parts? He was instinctively drawing out his notebook again. "I forgot to tell you what I do earlier; I'm a Dragonologist, I study dragons. I travel from place to place to find them and research them. Seeing how many dragons are around here, I feel I might be staying on this island for a long time."

"yes, I get all my herbs from the forest." she said in reply. una turned around and watched Sven. He greeted snip who came up and sniffed him cautiously. Luna smiled. Snatcher scampered up and sat by his sister. "yes, we call them terrible terrors. And that they are." Luna said with a slight laugh. "I found these two as abandoned nestlings, just a couple days old. There both 4 years old, just babies." she commented as she leaned up against her counter. She watched the two dragons become aquatinted with Sven. Ah, a dragonologist- that was interesting, she didnt think they had one on town or had ever had on visit. She took a blanket from a stack she had. "well you'll have to exuse me a moment, I need to check on something I have in my back room. she took a few steps away before turning back around. " actually you might be intereted in this- I have a couple of Zippleback eggs back here, you can come with me and see the if you'd like, there due to hatch any time now." she waited for him to answer.

Sven was intrigued. If all these herbs could be found in the forest next to the village, then this island must be rich in useful herbs and vegetation. He perked up at the dragon's species name, instantly scribbling in 'Terrible Terror' next to his scratchy sketch.
"Wow, you're quite the hero for these two then." He started defining his sketch, noting the intricate look of their horns, round head with bulbous eyes and cat-like body. Sven nodded, understanding that a healer had to go about her work, lest the life of an individual be lost. He looked up again, rising to his feet as Luna invited him to the back room. He turned to a new empty page, scrawling 'Zippleback' at the top in advance.
Sven had to remember that he had jaw muscles designed to keep him from opening and closing his mouth like the fish on Luna's counter. There before him were two large eggs about the size of a small stool, blotched in colours ranging from greens to reds. He quickly noted the colours down. He had never really gotten the chance to approach dragon eggs - they were always well protected by their mothers, most often with a ring of fire surrounding the area.
"So what are Zipplebacks like?" He asked, hoping that he wasn't intruding too much on the girl's professional life. "I'm sorry, I have a lot to learn here." He placed a hand on the smooth shell, which was very warm to the touch. Resting his ear against one, he swore he heard a muffled croak coming from it.
Nodded, her turned back to Luna. "Yeah, I'd say they're going to hatch soon, I'm sure they'll start to break the shell within an hour or two." He predicted this - he wasn't sure if the procedure was the same as with other dragons. He shrugged. "But then again, I could always be wrong."

"well, a zippleback has 2 heads, they have to work together to make fire, one of the heads breathes gas the other one ignites it with sparks." Luna said when Sven asked about zipplebacks. She continued to talk about their appearance and such. Sven scribbled in his notebook the whole time, obviously finding the information useful. Once she was finished he stopped writing and looked up. " well, that's about it." Luna said. " yes, I'm expecting these to hatch today or tomorrow." she said as she ran her hand over the surface of the one closest to her. She hoped they would hatch soon, this newcomer would probaly like to see them as well. She looked up at him " I happen to have something at the moment that I'm sure youd love to see." Luna said as she rose to her feet and motioned for Sven to follow her into the main room. She had borrowed the dragon manual for a couple days to research a little more about zipplebacks, she hadn't had zippleback eggs in awhile and she just wanted to refresh her mind abit. She had no doubt in her abilities though. She pulled the large book off a shelf. Almost the whole thing had been rewritten after dragons were acceptEd into the village. Before it used to tell you about how nasty all dragons were, but now it contained facts about all the spieces and breeds of dragons. Luna lugged it over to the counter and motioned for Sven to come closer. " this is our dragon manual, it's all about all the dragons we have." she said, opening it to the first page. She stepped back and let Sven take a look.

"One head spits gas, the other ignites it.... that's mighty interesting."
Sven immediately began taking notes, including a miniature sketch of what he assumed the what the Zippleback looked like judging from her descriptions.
"Well, thank you for all this information! Something tells me I might be paying you more visits in the future!" As she lead him back into the main room, he stole one last glance at the eggs before closing the door behind him. When he turned around to face Luna again, she had a large leather-bound book on the counter. As soon as she mentioned the word 'dragon', his eyes began to gleam.
"A whole compilation of all the dragons that live around this area? Amazing...." He stroked the cover of the book, which had an intricate dragon impressed upon it. She opened the first page, listing a contents of the main categories of dragons. A couple of names he recognised instantly, which he already knew were very common dragons types.
Sven began to flick through some of the pages, showing brilliant images of various dragons, some even with colors. He spotted a dragon he had already seen and recorded, so pulled out his notebook to compare... almost exactly the same save a couple of differences.
"Wow..." Sven was utterly speechless, looking back up to Luna, he smiled warmly. "Thank you for showing me this. I really mean it." He would have loved to carry on reading this book - but Sven preferred studying dragons out in the fields and forests. "This book has all the answers I look for," He closed the book's cover and pushed it slightly in Luna's direction. "But alas, a book does not provide the true experience of meeting dragons and seeing what they are capable of." He internally decided it was for the best - his curiosity was piqued, but he knew that if he read the entirety of this book, his career and ambitions would end on a low, anti-climatic note.
"Thank you once again Luna. You'll have to find me when those eggs hatch - I'd love to see what they're like! He began to feel he was wasting the girl's time - she had eggs to take care of, let alone maybe other sick dragons too. "I think I should get going now, you've got your job to do, and all that..."

" I will, Sven!" Luna said smiling. She hopes to see more of him, he was very interesting and he seemed to have alot of Knowledge of many types of dragons. Luna picked up the book again and put it back up on the shelf where she had gotten it from. He looked like he was ready to leave and get some idea of where he was and look around so she didn't want to keep him. " it's no trouble, you can come by Any time. " he went for the door after gathering his things up. " try not to forget where I am, you can come see me if you need help with anything and I'll try and be of assistance. He answered back with his strange accent and stepped out the door. Luna hoped he could find what he was looking for in berk, perhaps if he made any new discoveries he would share them with her. She hoped he would.

Sven nodded at the proposal, followed by another warm smile. Drawing out his notebook once more, he added a little X mark on his makeshift map, with the letter L next to it, representing Luna's house.
"Yes, I'll come drop by if I have any confusions about the species of dragons here!"
He waved cheerily goodbye, stepping out the door, and promptly closed it behind him in courtesy. He beamed - his first day here and he has already made a new friend! It couldn't have gone any better.
Sven whistled loudly, noticing a familiar silhouette in the sky. Hermes landed next to him, allowing the human to mount the dragon, and, in a flap of glassy black wings, he was gone.
