DATE & TIME: May 23rd CHARACTERS INVOLVED: Luna, Sven, Kenna PREVIOUS THREADS? Coastal Winds
Now Noah had ran off to find his mate, Sven could fully pay attention to Hermes. This was when reality struck him hard in the face. As Noah had drawn himself away from Sven, the dragonologist saw the mix of dirt and blood on his hands. Warm sticky blood.
Turning round, reality kicking in like an electric shock, he saw the dark bloodied mass of that was Hermes. It was like something off a gorey film. Sven's breathing and heart rate grew at the sight.
Skidding to his knees, not caring for the state of his trousers, he examined the dragon. "Can you lift yourself up?" He asked, knowing she was still conscious and able to reply. The body shifted, muscles straining to get going. Grunts of pain sounded from the dragon as she managed to roll from her side to her front, before trying to push herself up.
"Oww! Shit!!" Hermes snarled as she felt something crack in her paw. She instantly collapsed back into the mud. "Nope." She replied coarsely, an oval-shaped pupil staring up at Sven. "And now I've broken my wrist from it too." Hermes coughed, splattering a mixture of mud and blood from her beak. Red goo was oozing out one of her nostrils.
Sven was speechless. What had originally just been a bit of fun was now not anything near fun. Walking round to the other side of her, he regretted it - where she had landed and skidded in the ground was completely covered in wounds, cuts from stones and general grazing. Only a few scales had managed to cling on. Hermes looked up at him pathetically. Parts of her body was smarting from pain, her eye closed on the grazed side. She was in a serious condition.
Sven had to start trying to compose himself. He was a faint-hearted lad when it came to gore. "Okay..." He said calmly. "I'm going to get some salt water to clean those wounds..."
"Be quick... A downed dragon's a dead one, Sven..." Hermes called behind him quietly.
It wasn't far to the port, he was sprinting as fast as his legs could carry him. Seeing an empty bucket, he grabbed it and scooped up some water from the sea, making sure it was clear of anything that shouldn't be thrown over Hermes' injured body.
On the way back, a little more careful with the load but still moving quickly, he saw a face that made him think twice about fate.
"Luna!" He cried out loud, rushing to her. Sven was still looking distressed from the incident. "Oh god, Luna, Hermes, my dragon, she..." He was trembling so badly now it was stunting his speech. Unable to really say anything, he grabbed her arm and incited her to follow him in utmost urgency. He didn't care at all if she had things to do - Hermes would not make this if he didn't give her attention.
He marched Luna up to where Hermes laid, unmoving, eyes closed. The only sign of life was smarting muscles and her ribcage rising and falling.

Luna was out in the village market place. She was doing a bit of food shopping, buying bread and fish and the like. She heard a voice yelling and looked over her shoulder to see Sven coming at an alarming pace towards her. He barely skidded to a halt. His eyes were wide and scared and seemed really disoriented. Luna began to greet him, but he grabbed her arm and loudly and speedily babbled something at her before dragging her away. " uh...ok, Sven." Luna said, sprinting along behind him. She wondered what was wrong and why he was so freaked out. They reached a place where there was a mass crashed on the ground. It resembled a dragon. Sven let go of her and crashed down next to the black and red form. Luna advanced slowly and examined the dragon-like figure. Then she realized it "was a dragon. She gasped. It was brutally injured. It was Barely breathing. Where scales should have been on parts of it's body there was bare, bloody skin. She had originally thought it was a red and black dragon, but it was black and covered in it's own blood. Luna walked over to where Sven was, next to the dragon's head. Luna stared in concern. She knelt down next to Sven and reached her hand out to the beast, allowing it to smell her. The female dragon strained it's nostrils, getting a whiff of her. Then the dragon spoke, in dragonese of course. She seemed to say something to Sven about her. Sven looked like he was about to cry. This must be his dragon. Luna ran her fingers over the dragon's Head in an affectionate manner. Despite the dragon's efforts to be calm, she could tell her nerves were frayed and she was scared and in pain. Luna wonders what had happened to the creature for it to reach this state. She knew Sven wanted Luna to heal the broken dragon, and Luna couldn't imagine doing anything different. "Sven, I can't do anything for her here. I either need to go back to my house and get some herbs or we need to get her down there somehow, what do you want to do?" Luna asked Sven. He seemed really uptight and almost scared. He could do with some thyme himself, to calm his nerves. She continued to look the jet black dragon as she waited for a reply.

Drawing a rag from his bag, he dunked it in the salty water and began dabbing at the wounds with it. "Oh god I'm so sorry Hermes, this is going to hurt even more, but I swear to whatever gods there are that it will do you so much better." His aim was to get Hermes cleaned up so she wouldn't get any infections. The water would erase any traces of mud, the salt for infection. Hermes complied, closing her eyes and preparing for the worst.
"Who is -ow- this?" She would say.
"This is Luna. She's a dragon healer." Sven said. Now Luna was at his side, he felt a lot more confident in fixing up Hermes, and felt there was a much bigger chance she would make this through. He looked back to Luna.
"I'm sorry you have to see her like this... Right now she can't even lift her own weight. She broke her wrist only just now... I'm not suprised if she hasn't broken anything else... I want to clean her up first, that's why I collected the salt water... Damnit." He didn't have an extra rag for Luna. Frowning, he unzipped his jacket. He would never use his jacket as a sponge. Ever. Throwing it aside, he pulled off his shirt, before putting his jacket back on. Dunking the shirt into the water before Luna could protest, he handed her the soggy fabric.
"Take it. I don't care if it gets bloody or dirty." Sven continued to mop up Hermes' dirty form, the dragon occasionally grunting or flinching as the salt stung the wounds.

Luna reluctantly took sven's wet shirt. And began to clean the dragon's wound with it. She expertly removed the dirt and blood and grime from The injured beast's wounds. She flinched when Luna made contact with the saltwater to her cuts, but Luna channeled caking emotions to the dragon in an attempt to keep her calm while she did her work. The dragon was hurt very badly and needed more serious attention than this- the dragon was fading fast, and she couldn't bear to loose the life of a dragon, much less a freind's dragon. Sven wasn't handing it very well even now, she didn't even want to think about wat would happen to him if his dragon were to die now, and in her hands no less. She could see the dragon watching her, one eye open, watching her intently and warily. Luna could understand that, she was a newcomer to her. And depending on wether or not she knew about the incident that had happened between Sven and Luna the last time they had happened on one another, would partially determine his dragons trust level of her. What had Sven said her name was? Herla? No. Termes? No. Oh! Yes, it had been Hermes, it was a good name for a dragon of her stature. The dragon and rider conversed queitly and Luna decided not to eavesdrop. But it came to a point where Luna needed an answer to her previous question about what to do after this. She asked him the question again and waited for an answer. As she continued her steadfast work on the hermes' wounds.

Sven shuffled round to look at Luna. He could see the concern and care in her eyes, desperate to do something, and fast. He finally answered Luna's question.
"I'd rather try and move her to your house... she'd be safer there. But since she can't move very well it's going to be difficult to get her there. How do you suggest we move her?" Sven asked. He got up, walking around the dragon's body. Delicately lifting up one of her tattered wings, a scale hung off it's 'hinges'. Obviously causing discomfort to Hermes, he pulled it out. The scale was about as long as his arm. The creature's limb almost looked like that of a badly plucked chicken wing.
After rough inspection, Sven concluded that since Hermes had crashed chest first, both her front legs were not in a good shape. After a little bit of prodding, one wing had dislocated itself and a couple of ribs were broken.
Rubbing a hand over his head, he turned to look the other way. The sense of being overwhelmed was flooding back to him. Shaking his bowed head, he just felt lost.
A spluttering voice rasped behind him. "Man... up, you fool." Hermes blandly said, as she does, except with intervals of coughing.

"I have no idea how to move her. I've never really ran into a situation like this, I've always been called for from hom for something like this, so I can grab some remedies before I have to treat the dragon. But of I were to treat her here and bring herbs from home, I still don't know what we would do with her afterwards. Do you have any ideas, Sven? Luna said in reply to the dragonologist. He seemed so converened about his dragon, which was understandable, but she needed help thinking and problem solving right now. Luna cautiously reached out a hand and set her fingers softly on hermes' head stroking her dark scaly head. "it's all right, girl. Were going to take care of you. And don't give svne a hard time- he's just concerned about you. That's a good thing. Your going to be okay." Luna spoke in dragonese to Hermes. She dindnt know what to do. She couldnt have Sven fallen apart on jet and Hermes wasting her energy on trying to straiten him out. She needed Hermes at her house so she could work on healing her without Sven hovering around, which was stressing out both dragon and rider. "how did This happen Sven?" Luna asked quietly. Bewildered at the damage done to the regal dragon, who seemed so strangely calm. Typically an injured dragon was angry and raving. Which was a bad sign that Hermes wasn't up in arms, it meant she had no energy to be defensive, she was fading fast. She couldn't fail Sven. He was too good a friend. She would always give her entire being over to the care of a dragon when it was life or death, bit in tuis situation it seemed more important. She placed a hand on Sven's arm, just trying to calm him down.

(OOC: While Ore struck is still active, I thought I’d take this point simply because it’s the only time when Kenna would be able to help at all. Because the only way this story is going to end happy is if a cart is implemented.)
Kenna leaned back and yawned, she was semi tired after the work in the mountains, and the joys of the locals. She looked back at the cart, the sacks were full enough to last her some time, and she knew that tonight she’d have to start work on turning the ores into useable metals. She and her apprentice were going to have a lot of fun.
She sighed and looked into the areas around. At a distance, Kenna could see a dragon and two people by it. She wondered what they were doing there. As the cart got closer to the group, she could see it was Luna, Sven and Hermes. Kenna smiled, but only for a few seconds. Luna seemed to be comforting Sven, and Hermes didn’t seem to be moving that much.
Something bad had happened. She looked at Mr Pickles, who hadn’t noticed and lightly slapped his arm, “We need to get to them, something’s wrong.” After minor complaint (weather about the slap or something else she didn’t know or care) the cart turned towards the group and they stopped just by them. Kenna jumped down and looked at the three people there, “What’s happened?”
It didn’t take much explaining before Kenna moved to the back of the cart and started to take the ore sacks off. They needed help getting Hermes back to Luna’s, and her cart was probably the only way they’d be able to get her back quickly enough, she just had to hope Trolley could take the weight.
Once all the rocks the four of them started to move the dragon. Sven looked like he was close to breaking down, and Kenna could tell that she and Pickle were the two with the most strength. Once they’d got Hermes on she turned to Luna, “run back to your house and get what you need ready, you’ll get ther before we do. Oh and make sure Snatchet and Snip aren’t going to be within range of Mr Pickles her, we need to keep trouble to a minimum.” She then looked at Sven. “I think you should stay here, Sven. Someone needs to make sure nothing happens to the ores and…I have a feeling you shouldn’t be near Hermes while she’s in this state. It’s making it worse for both of you. We’ll be back as soon as she’s save at Luna’s.”

Still deeply traumatised about the incident, Sven's hands continued to shake as if he had drunk way too much coffee. Seeing Kenna trundling up the pathway in her Gronckle-pulled cart, it almost appeared like some sort of godsend.
Kenna seemed more pro-active and turned the chaos into an efficient and organised plan. Sven nodded at the idea, sniffing a little. He couldn't break down now, not yet. He wondered how they'd get Hermes onto the cart without causing further damage. He noted some sticks and twine in the cart. Not saying a word, fearing he'll just splutter tears instead, he took the items and attached them on Hermes' broken limbs, securing them and making sure they weren't dislodged.
Once done, he turned away again, unable to stand the lump of gore before him. He took several deep breaths, trying to compose himself. He shook his head, hearing the following plan of action once Hermes was heaved onto the cart. He couldn't leave Hermes alone. Not after all this. He would be with her until the end - no matter how far, or, gulp or how close it would be.
"I...I-I'm coming with you." He said behind a cracked voice. A grunt could be heard from Hermes, as if it was in approval.

Kenna looked at Sven. She knew that logical arguments weren’t going to work. No aregument would work, mainly because she knew that no aregument would work on her if Fenrir were hurt, and she knew that she didn’t have the same bond with her dragon as Sven had with Hermes.
Kenna knew that she would be more help than he would at this point with moving Hermes and, more selfishly, she knew that someone had to stay here to make sure nothing happened to her things, and that they were the two ‘non-compulsory’ of the four of them. (She did, however, quickly note that the term selfish should be thought of as small as possible since the ores were quite needed for her work for her village and she knew she couldn’t spend another week getting new supplies.)
But, as mentioned earlier in paragraph one, she knew that none of these arguments would work for Sven at this moment in time, and Kenna was frozen on what to do. Luna and Mr Pickles had already started going by run and cart respectively, but she knew that didn’t matter to much, they could catch up with that cart at in a jog, especially with how much weight Trolley was pulling at that moment.
“Go,” she said, against her better judgement, “Help them get Hermes into where Luna needs her to be and then keep yourself out of the way. And make sure that when he’s not needed Pickle comes straight back here, I don’t want to be stuck out here anymore time than I have to be knowing I can’t do anything.”
Once Sven had responded and ran after the cart in the not very far distance, Kenna sat down by her items, clenching her fists. She hated not being able to help, being stuck here with my stuff.
But you wanted Sven to do that, her conscience replied.
Yes, she thought in response, But I would be more likely to be able to help than him, he’s being too emotional, it’ll cause to much distress, especially if things go wrong.
But what if something did go wrong, her conscience asked, If your dragon died, and Sven, or Luna or Aster made you stay behind, so you weren’t there when it happened, how would you feel?
Kenna’s mind was silent, she didn’t want to answer. Because she knew she’d probably resent that person for it, for not letting them be with Fenrir if the time came. As much as she knew it would definatly be bad to have Sven go, not letting him had the potencial to be so much worse.

Luna gave Sven one more sympathetic look before running off to town towards to house to prepare to heal hermes. She really hoped she would be able to Fix her. She couldn't bear it if she lost a dragon when it was in her charge. She had to do for Hermes, for her own good, but mostly for Sven. She absolutely could not let hermes die on Sven. She didn't even want to imagine what would happen then. She had never lost a dragon before, and this better not be her first time. She sprinted along until she reached the village. She had to slow down a little so she didn't run into people, which wa proabaly good because she was almost out of breath. She jogged along the streets, dodging people and weaving through the crowds.
When she reached her house she practically tore the door off the hinges she opened it she quickly. She tore into the main room and almost tripped over snip and snatcher, who were sleeping. They both hissed before they look up and saw it was just Luna, not some stranger. Luna quickly apologized to them in dragonese before setting to work mixing herbs and preparing poultices in large quantities. She went into her back room where she kept sick dragons and prepared the area a bit, tossing fresh hay on the ground. She opened the big door that dragons could fit through that opened to the outside so that when they arrived with Hermes they could bring her in. As soon as she finished that she quickly made her way back to the main room to finish up with the herbs before they got here, so she could have everything ready.

As soon as Kenna had reluctantly said 'go', Sven leapt at Kenna for a huge thank you hug, and with that, he sprinted down to the main street.
He didn't want to stop running. He was out of breath, a nasty stitch paining in his ribcage. All that was on his mind was Hermes. Bumping past people, he didn't care right now. He believed that the pain he was enduring was nothing compared to what Hermes was dealing with.
Finally arriving at Luna's house, Sven noticed Kenna's cart, empty. Giving a brief flash of eye contact as if to say 'thank you', the burly Viking had a glint in his eye as if he was only doing this to please the lady waiting up on the cliff side. Sven did not give it much thought - there were worse things to think about.
Finally bursting through the back door, he found Hermes laying on a bed of warm straw. Sheltered from the winds and warmed by torches, the atmosphere was definitely more relaxing than outside. The scruffy-looking Ambassador dragon had been laid worst-side up, so that Luna could tend to the more urgent injuries. Speaking of Luna, he could hear her busy at work, making some sort of paste or ointment that would surely reduce pain and increase healing. He supposed that Luna hadn't heard him come in.
Right now, though, he was kneeling at Hermes' side, softly stroking her head. Muscles were smarting from head to toe. The wounds were definitely a lot worse on the side she had landed on. There were almost no scales at all, bare skin raw and bloodied red, gashes all over. Inspecting his little handiwork of stopping the broken limbs dislodging further, he nodded in satisfaction, but still bleary-eyed.
"Man, you look worse than me from here." Hermes rasped quietly, too hurt to speak. At least she still had her weird sense of humour. "Where are we?" She said finally. Sven patted her eagle-like head softly, as her orbs of saphhire closed shut in rest.
"You're safe. Luna will fix you, make you better." Sven replied, his voice still cracked from before. Being in Luna's house restored a lot of confidence in him; now that Hermes was most definitely safe, and with expertise like Luna's, Sven was sure Hermes would recover soon enough.

luna heard hermes be set in the room where she treated dragons. the hurriedly finished preparing the salve she was mixing. she set the mortar she used for mixing down on her counter before rushing into the other room. she wanted to observe the damage before she treated it. she pulled the cutain back from the doorway. she saw the injured dragon laid on the ground, limbs splayed ungracefully about. the side luna had not seen of hermes was exposed, and it was far worse than the other. it was enfalmed and red and bloody. just bare, exposed skin. it was horrific. she had never gotten an answer from sven on how it had happened. her gaze wandered from hermes. the next thing she noticed was sven. why was he here? he was supposed to stay behind and chill out. this wasnt helping him or his dragon, just stressing them both. she didnt want to ask him to leave his dragon now, that would just be mean. she decided to let him stay- but ask him to let her do the work.
she whisked back into the other room and grabbed the mortar with the herb paste off the counter. she would have to make more later- she had totally underestimated the size and severity of this. she briskly walked int to the room with her waiting patient. she knelt down before hermes and next to sven. she said calmy "let me handle this sven" and started to apply the salve gently to the enflamed wounds of the dragon. as she worked, she spoke softly to hermes in the beasts own tongue, attempting to calm her. as she continued to spread the medicine she could feel svens concerned gaze upon the two of them. luna couldnt help blushing a little as she recalled what had happed with the two of them the last time they had been in this room together.

Kenna looked up as she heard the cart coming towards her. She must have dozed off. She stood up as Trolley, Mr Pickles and the empty cart. Once they were together, they quickly took all of their stuff back onto the cart.
“Can you take it back to my house, I want to go and see how they’re doing,” she felt guilty and she wanted to make sure Sven and Hermes were alright. Mr Pickles started to protest, and Kenna realised it was about her dragon, “You don’t have to go in, just leave the cart outside my place and unsaddle it; I’m the only person in the village that has any need for a load of rocks.” He finally conceded and, gleaming at him, she jumped up and kissed him quickly before running off towards the village again.
She got to Luna’s house relatively quickly, and found they way in open as always. She quietly walked in and made her way to where she knew the three of them would be (Luna had healed Fenrir when he’d once got caught in one of her contraptions). She saw Luna working on Hermes and Sven nearby. She tiptoed into the room and, whispering, asked ”how is she?”

Hermes hissed as the ointment stung her bare wounds, sending a ripple of spasms coursing along her body. Sven stroked her head gently, uttering words of confidence to Hermes, but partly for himself as well. He let Luna do her work - his trembling fingers would be of no use to the dragon healer right now.
For a while, the only noises made were the wincing of Hermes and Luna's occasional whisper of comfort. Suddenly, the door opened again and Kenna stood in it's frame. She came quietly by their side, asking how she was. Sven said nothing - it was evident that Hermes was not in a great shape. Luna knew what she was doing: he relied on her to make an assessment of the wounds. Nevertheless, Sven knew that now Hermes was with Luna, everything should be ok.
[OOC: Sorry it's so short! Sven n Hermes are a useless duo right now, so theres not much they can do >.< I suggest instead of dragging on and on with the healing, there should be a time-skip to where she's almost healed or something.]

Luna calmly and quietly worked, being calm herself would reassure both dragon and rider. She saw Kenna enter and glanced over at her and watched intently as she made her way over to where she and Sven knelt. She sat down quietly near them and asked how the dragon was. Luna replieD "not good- but I'm sure I can fix her." she turned to Sven and said "but she's not going to Heal in a few hours- I'm going to hav to keep her here for a couple days." she hesitates, knowing Sven wouldn't bee too keen on leaving hermes here without him, Luna knew they shared a speical bond so she offered something to him "you can stay here with her as long as I have her, if you want- but it's up to you, Sven" she said as she finished up working on the dragon asking her "how do you feel?" knowing well that soon the injured dragon would soon fall asleep and stay like such for awhile. She waited for replies from Sven and Hermes as she smeared the last of the soothing salve on Hermes.
