Hermes and Sven were riding up in the high mountains on Berk today. The dragon was exited to show Sven the cave she had found and had been taking up residence in it.
"You can stay here too - it's sheltered from the wind so it's not as cold as you think it is!" Hermes encouraged the young dragonologist.
They landed on a hill which was covered in tough grass. Wild cattle were grazing in the next valley. Sven found the landscape around here breathtaking - it was much bigger than the mountainous landscape he had known in his homeland. Hermes trotted up the slope, revealing a cave set in the hill, almost hidden away from the tufts of grass surrounding it. It was a steep cave, loomed in darkness. Sven frowned.
"I'm not going in there. I'd never be able to get out by myself!" He said, dismounting Hermes. Hermes shrugged, as if to say 'suit yourself'. She slid into the gaping, rocky hole in the earth.
Meanwhile Sven sat by the edge of the cave, sketching in the landscape in his notebook, marking elements of interest. He thought he could see Berk further down, next to the coastline.
"It really is quite spacious down here, Sven. I don't know why you wouldn't come down!" Hermes' feminine voice echoed out the hole.

Winter groaned as the horse-like dragon appeared again, he found her annoying. But then again he never interacted with other dragons and prefers Ghost's company. The black dragon was just wierd in his opinion, but low and behold, what's this?
Winter creepted forward from the mountains ledge to take in the yellow coated human with her. He was dressed strangely but he was interesting. Not wanting to go into the deep cave.
Lips pulled back in a teeth baring grin as the large dragon lifted himself up. Perhaps he would snatch him up just for the hell of it. He was bored anyways, not knowing where Ghost disappeared to.

As Sven turned around to look down into the pit, a flash of red further up the mountain caught his eye. It was a red western dragon - a species common in his homeland, and one of the first dragons he catalogued aside from Hermes. The dragon appeared to be looking somewhat half irritated, half curious.
Before Sven could do anything else, the red beast had swooped down and snatched him from the ground. The mass of green quickly going smaller and smaller. The dragon's clutches had almost squeezed the breath out of him, unable to cry out for Hermes. Holding onto the dragon's legs for his dear life, he hoped dearly this kidnapping would be resolved without a fuss.
Breath coming back to him, Sven had no choice. He was going to have to somehow get this dragon to listen to him, Viking style. "PUT ME DOWN THIS INSTANT!" Sven bellowed over the winds. He'd never before shouted so loud, and coughed afterwards with a sore throat.
Meanwhile, back at the cave, Hermes was getting impatient at Sven's response, and poked her head out the pit like some sort of rodent. Looking around, Sven nowhere to be seen. "Sven?" She cocked her head - it was usually her who left without indication. She saw the black outline of a dragon flying away, but thought nothing of the silhouette hanging in it's claws, thinking it to be only a carcass.

Winter snorted as the human yelled at him. Like hell he would put him down, why should he. He felt the boy grip onto what he could of his leg, nails digging into tough scales. Bringing up his other claw, he manuvered him so he was practically sitting and leaning without being crushed but still within a protective hold. Winter continued to fly higher and further away from where they were.
"Why are humans so strange?" whispered Winter, thinking about Ghost and the other humans he's briefly met. Sure humans and dragons were similiar in ways, like appearance, personality, and gender. But what else was similiar? Dragons couldn't understand them but some could understand them.
Shaking his massive head, Winter blocked the thoughts out of his mind, not sure why he was even thinking about humans in the first place.

As Sven was lifted into a more comfortable position, he looked towards the dragon's head in front. He still had to hold on tightly, despite the grip the dragon was using. Before he could ask where the dragon was taking him, and whether he was planned to be dinner, the dragon seemed to mumble something. Sven's face softened a little as he seemed to understand the gist of what the dragon was saying. Strange?
Sven cleared his throat, hoping to get the dragon's attention. He spoke in dragonese this time, loudly, so he could be heard over the winds. "You know, humans used to think dragons were strange too. That's why there's people like me, Dragonologists, who study dragons and try to understand them."
Sven hoped dearly the dragon would listen to him, and perhaps come to an understanding. And hoped that he would be let go soon.
(Forgive me, I forgot I was on Scratchet's account, and not svens!)

Humans thought dragons were wierd too? Finally making it to an outcropping, Winter landed, gusts of wind causing dust to fly around as his wings flapped before folding in.
Setting down the blonde, red-violet eyes went eye level to gaze into green.
"What do you mean, study dragons?"
(It's alright. No worries. ^_^) (Sorry it's short.)

Sven luckily sealed his eyes shut before Winter whipped up clouds of dust, but the same couldn't be said for his nose. He sneezed several times, and when he finally opened his eyes, the dragon was staring at him. Staring right into his eyes.
Slightly nervous, still hoping he wasn't dinner, Sven made no movements, and continued to look into those unblinking eyes. It took him a moment to gain the courage to speak once more, in the dragon's tongue.
"W-well, I personally travel around, searching for dragons and researching them, learning what they eat, where they live, their dimensions and such matters..." Sven started to explain. Hoping not to startle the dragon, he slowly reached for his inner pocket of his jacket, pulling out his prized notebook. "All the information I gather about each species of dragon, I write in here. I hope one day to get it turned into a real book that many people can read and share. That way the world will understand dragons better and perhaps be less intimidated by them."
The dragonologist flicked through the book, presenting it to the large red dragon. Inside was lots of sketchy pictures of dragons, and lots and lots of writing. He stopped at a page that he thought would be of interest to the dragon. "I've already met your type of dragon, they are really common where I come from. I don't think I've seen many of your kind here... If you want to, we could make this information much more general?"
Even though he'd never had this problem with dragons before, he was still wary that the dragon was going to eat him.

"You have met my kind before? *growl* Of course there aren't any here. I traveled here myself since humans were being a nuisence to me."
Even as he bared his teeth, Winter couldn't help but be interested in the sketchs and writing within the book. Especially when his kind was mentioned. Perhaps he would converse with this human before the black dragon arrived or he returned the blonde.
"What do you mean by make it more general" he questioned as he layed down, arms crossing over the other as he stared at the human.

Sven nodded in comprehension at Winter's response. Even though the dragon started growling, the dragonologist was more relaxed than before.
"Yes, I've seen your kind before. I am not confined to this island, unlike the majority of the Vikings in the village. With my dragon, a nomadic kind, we travel all over the place in search of dragons to meet. I am actually quite intruiged, though. Most Western - European dragons I've encountered are green or black..." Drawing a pencil from his pocket, flicking back to the page with the dragon's information, he added 'red' to the list of possible colours. He was glad that the dragon was taking a more relaxed stance than before, laying down on the rocky hillside. He smiled as Winter asked the question.
"Well," He started, finding a rock to lean against. "I've not had the chance to speak to many of your kind, so my view on your species is very limited and narrow. I understand how each dragon is different, but sometimes a dragon's common trait may escape from conformity." He explained, continuing to look at the dragon.
"I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself - My name is Sven." He added.

Winter watched as he leaned against a rock and wrote something within the leather book. Taking into consideration of what he said and his name, Winter replied.
"You must have met the forest and night ones then, they are the only ones green and black. Explain what you mean by common trait escaping from conformity, Sven."
Winter would answer his quesitons, if he got answers in return.

Sven scribbled down some more, noting that colour of this species' indicated it's habitat. He put the flat end of the pencil against his lower lip, wondering how to explain to the dragon about the odd one out.
"I guess, well. Take that human settlement down there." Sven started, motioning a hand to the little viking village down below. "Down there, Vikings live there. They're called vikings because they're brutes, fearless and really good fighters. But, not all of them fall under that category. There are habitants who aren't as strong, say, a scribe or healer. They could be completely opposite, perhaps not strong and don't really have an urge to fight. Abnormal, if you will. But it doesn't mean they're not bad; it just means they have specialities elsewhere."
Sven returned his gaze to the red dragon, hoping he would understand. He took a deep breath of the crisp mountain air. "So, if we reversed roles and you were studying humans, if you only studied one type of person, you would only know that type, and not realise there are lots and lots of different types of people! I've travelled around a lot, humans can change depending where they live, how they live, and all sorts of other factors. Like your kind, depending where a human has it's origins it's skin will also be a different colour. I'd love to give you a lesson on how humans work, but I feel we would be here all night otherwise."
Sven sighed. He now wondered whether this dragon had kidnapped him merely for information and understanding. Sven knew a lot. If he had to tell this dragon everything he knew, he would be here for months. "So why have you taken me away, anyway?" He blurted all of a sudden after a few moments.
