How about we have a huge festival for everyone to join in! All sorts of activities will be going on, feasts and lots of rider/dragon-based competitions like races, test of strength, etc.... What do you guys think? If you wanna add your ideas on go ahead  |

I think that's a good idea, but I have my highschool orientation and kickoff on thursday. So I think the idea is fantastic, but I think we should do it on a different day. I say friday. Although there isn't a catchy name for Friday..... ^^

Well I say Thors'day thursday but i dont mean we're RPing on that day exactly, we wouldn't have the time to roleplay in the timespan of one day anyway  It's a name of the festival mentioned in the HTTYD books. |

Heres a few events that could happen involving dragons:
-In the Dragon Fighting Arena, there could be Dragon rodeos involving wild dragons (so that they're more likely to 'buck' off their riders)
-In the Main Village, there could be obedience tests for tamed dragons
-Around the island there could be races involving dragons and their riders

good ideas so far, keep throwing them into the pot.
However, the obedience test...there are only tame dragons in the village. yes, they have the stands of food and such for wild, flying-by dragons to eat from, but in the village itself there are only tame dragons ^^

Obviously tamed dragons would enter the obedience contest. I doubt a wild dragon would obey the commands of a meaty human that is more often than not much smaller than a dragon. ^_^ Wild dragons could be captured and stored in the dragon fighting arena for the rodeos/wrestling a dragon to the ground sort of contests. Viking who stays the longest on a dragons wins I guess.
I think the obedience trials would be sort of like in the books, where they must collect a certain number of fish, obey simple commands like stay put, sit, breathe fire, roar, etc...

However, do you think there should be variants of the dragon wrestling contest - i.e. a wild dragon against a Viking (needless to say the bigger the Viking, the bigger the Dragon will have to be), and Dragon-Viking vs. Dragon?
I think that an older dragon (one of the more intelligent types, such as a Night Fury...Puff would qualify) could be used to initially calm the captured dragon down, for the sake of the viking so the dragon doesnt go apeshit on them and kill the one wrestling them XD

yeah, that sounds good too, it would be a good idea of having a dragon that most wild dragons respect to calm them down.
I suppose we could also do dragon v dragon too? like tame versus wild?
