Rialle was picking herbs. Singling out the edible and medicinal ones and placing them in her leather bag. She had been on this well-practiced activity for hours, gathering herbs for her mother like she always did on Sundays. Sundays were a day of stocking up for the rest of the week. It always was, for all the Yasaman family members.
She was examining a small green root. It was unfamiliar to her, since she'd thought she recognized every plant near here, because she'd been taking plants from this small area for years. Six, to be exact, since she was five. She rolled the root in between her smooth fingers, taking in every millimeter of it so she could draw it once she got back to the cabin she called home in her withered sketchbook.
Then she remembered. She had brought her sketchbook this time. Digging it out from her bag, she caught a whiff of the smell. Slightly minty, but strong in another way she couldn't name. She started using her few pastels she had to record it, for her family and posterity, anyone who happened to find her prized possession of a sketchbook. Not that she would ever leave it somewhere. She never had, for the six years it had existed.
She was just adding the finishing touches on the drawing when she heard the noise. She froze. Was it a dragon? Her curly blond hair flew as she jumped up and whipped around, and her shoulders relaxed when she saw it was a person, not a dragon, that had just appeared. Scarcely older than her. ((hey!!))

Luna was walking though the forest, collecting herbs. It was a nice cool day typical of Berk. There was a nice little breeze and a bright, golden sun. She wasn't having much luck today. All her normal places seemed a little overpicked, most of the useful parts of the plants had been torn away already. It worried her because she was running low on her herbs. She hoped this wouldn't be some kind of regular thing, she needed this stuff. She checked a few more of her spots and yet her efforts were still fruitless. She wasn't sure what to do, she couldn't return until she had at least a few herbs, now she had barley any. She stopped and closed her eyes, running her fingers through her tousled, slightly wavy red-blonde hair, hanging loose in the hysterian style. It was the only custom she still practiced from her homeland. She let out a breath before opening her eyes and more closely observing her surroundings, searching for the plants she desired. Her bag tapped on her side when she took a step, the leather strap that laid across her chest shifting slightly with each step.
She walked along a bit longer, continuing her search. She was starting to get frustrated when she happened a younger girl on the ground looking over a Root. She has curly blonde hair and was a few wears ypunger than her. Luna saw she had alot of herbs. She set her hand on her hip. The girl whirled around and looked at her. Luna spoke "well now I know where all my herbs have gone." she continued to look her over at waited for the other girl to say something.

"Well, now I know where all my herbs have gone." Rialle was staring into the silver eyes of a girl with red-blond hair, who looked maybe...fifteen? Rialle had seen her before. People were always taking dragons to her. The dragon healer. Oh yes, her mother had taken a dragon she found with a broken wing to her, awhile ago. The dragon they had nicknamed Caranio, which was now who-knows-where in Berk or Hysteria or some other place, thanks to the fact that Luna was a healer. Oh yes. Her name was Luna. Now Rialle remembered.
Rialle swallowed, dragging her furry boots through the silty ground and remaining roots. "Oh, is this your property?" she asked, though she doubted it. "I'm sorry…" This was the forest. Rialle knew she was being dumb, but hey...better safe than sorry. Luna's arm shifted, and the sunlight caught on her gold bracelet, a small detail Rialle had not noticed. She wondered if the girl—the Healer—Luna—was always like this. She tried to make conversation, again. "Do you know what this herb is?" she inquired, opening her cupped hand.

Luna shook her head "of course this isn't my property. It's the forest. But those herbs you have there are from the plants on my plant-collecting route" she said motioning to the herbs she had. She briefly wondered what business she had with all those herbs. They weren't all for cooking- there were some she had that were strictly used for healing purposes. And she certainly wasn't out flower picking or anything, she had roots and stuff in her bag. She wondered what the girl planned on using so many kinds at that quantity for.
She brought her attention back to the girl, who was cautiously looking her over. She saw her notice her bracelet. Luna twirled the little treasure around her small wrist slowly. She always wore it, she always avoided taking it off. Luna looked back up at the girl and let her hand hang by her side again. The younger girl asked her about a root, inquiring as to what it was. she looked at it, identifying it. "it's just a root- it doesn't do anything exept help the plant grow. I can't eat it or heal with it, so it's of no use to either of us, only to the plant, which you have now deprived as part of it's life source; and that is why you don't run about gathering herbs without experience and purpose." she said to her. Luna tried not to sound harsh as she asked "who are you and what are you doing?" She was just frustrated and she didn't need some kid running around tearing all her herbs out of the ground and not taking the time to cultivate the plants. This girl might think this was some kind of game- but she needed these things. She waited for an answer from her.

"Of course this isn't my property. It's the forest. But those herbs you have there are from the plants on my plant-collecting route," the girl Luna replied to Rialle scathingly, giving her a glance that Rialle felt was something close to pure loathing. Rialle really did feel sorry she had gummed up this girl’s plant-collection route. As Luna whipped her hand near all the herbs, the golden bangle on her wrist glittered again. It was veeery distracting. Rialle couldn’t help but glance at it often.
”Sorry about intruding on your route. Did I mess anything up?” the small girl asked concernedly, her golden curly hair catching the wind and therefore flying back behind her. Add that she was on her tiptoes, trying to look older than she was, and she resembled a small bird about to take off. Then Luna’s eyes went toward Rialle again, answering her other question.
"It's just a root—It doesn't do anything except help the plant grow. I can't eat it or heal with it, so it's of no use to either of us, only to the plant, which you have now deprived as part of its life source; and that is why you don't run about gathering herbs without experience and purpose. Who are you and what are you doing?"
Rialle’s face turned red. She certainly hadn’t meant to make Luna mad. She was just doing what her mother wanted her to. She said, on the verge of tears, ”I didn’t take it from the plant. It was just on the ground. Sorry I made you mad…” She gulped, trying to rid her face of redness, before adding in answer to the remainder of Luna’s harsh question, ”And you know, I do have some experience. I’ve gathered herbs for five years. I’m Rialle.” She took a deep breath. ”Each Sunday our family all goes out to replenish things for the week...getting plants is my job...we use them for healing and cooking and things like that.” She decided to stop garbling on then. She locked eyes with the girl, wondering what her reaction would be.

(OOC: Hope you two don’t mind my joining in, it’s just I think Ari would fit this section perfectly, specially it’ll help with showing his and Luna’s current working relationship and, if you still up or it Maria, how Ari got you as an apprentice.)
Ari cursed as his leg seized. He leaned on a tree and waited for the pain to pass. Well, not pass, he knew it wouldn’t ‘pass’. It would however subside. He knew it would subside since he’d had his medicine for it not long before. And it finally did.
He picked up his staff and continued to limp on further into the forest. He disliked having to go out to get his herbs and plants, but it couldn’t be helped. He couldn’t just get anyone to go out and get him herbs, they needed to know what to look for and what they should never touch. The only other person he knew that had that kind of knowledge was Luna...and he wouldn’t do that. He wouldn’t know if she gave him an equal share, for all he knew she got all the good ones and he got the rubbish.
So he kept walking. He saw the visual markers tree locations, rock formations and the such. He knew the forest’s layout perfectly; he had enough time to learn it. He was just entering Luna’s patch. When she’d been made the village’s dragon healer, they worked out areas where they could take herbs, and her strip was closer to the village than his, mainly because she didn’t know it as well as he did back then. Sooner or later he should get their routes changed so he didn’t need to walk as far.
He heard two people talking, they were young girls. He recognised one as Luna, she sounded annoyed. The other one he only partially recognised. He moved towards the voices, until the two came into view. He listened to their conversation for a few seconds, to surmise what was going on before walking up to the group.
“Good day,” he said, smiling, “what are you two up to?”

Luna saw that the younger girl, who had said she was called raille, was getting upset because she was agitated. Luna took a deep breath and lowered her voice as well as her demeanor As she spoke back to the girl "okay, don't get upset. I'm just frustrated. I guess its really not a big deal as long as you don't use this route again and share what you have there with me for today, would you be willing to do that?" she asked more calmly. After a moments pause she said "well, if you have experience in herb gathering, your defiantly green and have alot to learn still. Would you like me to show you how to leave a patch of herbs so that it will continue to grow after you've plucked things away?" as she waited for an answer Luna continued to look the girl over.
Luna took a closer look at what Raille had there, examining the herbs to see what she had collected. The deducted that she in fact had all the herbs she would need. She hoped the girl would be willing to share her bounty with her, for she had gathered quite a haul of the precious plants Luna so required. If she didn't let Luna take some of the herbs, she would have quite a lot of extra labor to endure today. Some of the villagers thought picking herbs wad easy sissy stuff, but in actuality it was tedious painstaking work which required a sharp eye, a focused mind and a dedicated, determined and faithful mind. Herbs were something that weren't an option for her, if was going to have to go search for more of the medicinal plants she would have to intrude on some of Ari's herb territory and sparingly pick some from there, but she knew he would be very unhappy with her if she did that so she would avoid it. But she only could if Raille was willing to share with her.
Luna also noticed the younger girl glancing over at her bracelet repeatedly. It was the one Curtis had given to her, she was almost never without it. It was an intricately woven gold chain with two charms hanging close to the chain, one of a dark, shiny black stone, the other of a bright, sparkly white stone. The girl seemed to be rather entranced by it, looking back over at it every few seconds. Luna wondered why. Raille seemed nice, but if she tried to take her bracelet she was going to put up a fight. But if she asked about it, she probably wouldn't mind telling her about it.
Luna turned around when she heard a semi-familiar voice acknowledge them from Behind her. Placing it as Ari, the village healer for humans. She turned around and faced him greeting him in return "good day, Ari. We were both doing some herb gathering and we've had a bit of a mix up. she said, motioning to Raille as she implied both. After a second's pause Luna started again " how are you, today? Out doing some herb gathering as well?" she inquired, only making the assumption that he would be out to pick the medicinal plants as well because she knew he disliked leaving the village and venturing into the forest unless he had to. She waited for a reply from him.

Rialle jumped as a strange voice interrupted her and Luna’s totally pleasant and peaceful conversation. “Good day, what are you two up to?”
Rialle was going to reply but hadn’t even opened her mouth when Luna replied, not to Ari, but to herself. “Okay! Don’t get upset, I’m just frustrated. I guess it’s not really a big deal as long as you don’t use this route again and share what you have there with me for today, would you be willing to do that? Well, if you have experience in herb gathering, you’re definitely green and have a lot to learn still. Would you like me to show you how to leave a patch of herbs so that it will continue to grow after you’ve plucked things away?”
As Rialle digested this monologue, Luna turned to face the person who had just come, Ari. “Good day, Ari. We were both doing some herb gathering and we’ve had a bit of a mix-up. How are you today? Out doing some herb gathering as well?”
Rialle decided to reply to Luna first. Luna had basically said what Rialle had been about to say to Ari. She cleared her throat loudly and said, ”Sure, I can share the herbs I’ve found today. And sorry again about intruding on your route...didn’t mean to...and yes! Definitely, thanks!” Rialle smiled a half-smile. And then she turned to Ari. ”Hi Ari!” Her parents knew him a little, though not well. She began taking some of the herbs out of her pouch. ”Luna, which herbs do you want?”

Ari smiled as he looked down, he knew that Luna’s coment about ‘a bit of a mix-up’ meant that young girl had been picking from her path. Not expecting all that much when he looked down, he internally jumped when he saw just how much the girl had actually picked.
And it wasn’t bad stuff at that, everything in there was either useable for his work or useable for Luna’s (there was surprisingly little cross over in what herbs they needed for their particular works, but Luna needed the herbs that he wuould need too since she did still need some herbs for human based stuff). This girl wasn’t just anybody when it came to herb picking, and in one so young too.
As she replied to Luna’s askings, Ari’s mind chugged through a few thought before coming to a good idea, “You don’t need to worry about taking too much, Luna,” He muttered, “If you need more than you end up with I’ll gladly give you some of my reserves, Rialle.” He chould tell there were about to be protest from either of the girls so he slipped in quicky, “I only came out here so that I could make sure that I was fully stocked, I still have a while till I need to restock. You only come out when you have to restock.”
He smiled at the two of them as they reacted. This girl could be useful, if he could get her to work for him, he wouldn’t have to worry about having to go out to get the plants, once he’d trained her with his presise knowedge obviously. And hey, he might finally going to get an apprentice...even if she was female.

Luna watched as Ari spoke to Raille. They didn't seem to really know each other, but ari seemed interested in becoming aquainted with her. Luna stepped back a little as they spoke. She knew Ari well enough, raille probably wanted to meet him as well. In reply to raille Luna did add "How much I'll need will depend on the plant and what kinds I need will depend on what you have." she looked over what raille had, examining the herbs the younger girl had deducting in her mind the ones she would need and how much of each she would need.
Luna looked up at Ari. He had always been a bit strange to her, it was just weird how he typically knew about everything. And it was strange to her How he was being so friendly with raille. She could remember the first time they had met and he hadn't been nearly this engaging and nice. Not to say that Ari was cold or mean, he simply wasn't very social. She watched the two interact, Raille was so meek, Amd seemed so soft spoken and submissive. Most of that was proabaly due to her age. Raille was probably still learning to make her own choices. A smile tugged at the corner of Lunas mouth. She Recalled when she was Raille's age the way she had been, trying to prove herself to the world. It was such a strange age.
Luna continued to listen to the young girl and the healer speak and waited to see if she would be given an oppotunity or a reason to speak.
