DATE & TIME : 10/6, early morning WEATHER CONDITIONS : sun but cold (sun's only come out reasontly CHARACTERS INVOLVED : Kenna, Scratchet PREVIOUS THREADS ? War threads
Things had semi returned to normal…not enough for ‘normal’ to be the right word but it was the closest Kenna would have used. Kenna had taken off her bandages already, the burns were healed in the sence that the didn’t bother her, but the scars were still there. She had a feeling they would be for a long time.
She got up earlier than normal, she wanted to do stuff. Not work though. She was going to go and see Luna, who was staying with Ari while they were healing up. Most people were staying at their houses and for Ari (or some of the people who were still being kept on until everyone was better) would come round to make sure they were alright. But Luna didn’t have a house now and, while it was understood that she’d be living with Curtis until a new house was made, Ari had point blank refused to go all that distance for her so she was staying with him.
She felt her hair and sighed. She’d cut her hair partly to get rid of the burnt parts and partly because she’d lost that hairband in the fire. While that sounds a pitiful reason (it is) it was more the sentimental value she had for it (I’m not going to give some because I don’t feel museful enough make some up on the spot and it doesn’t matter enough anyway) that she felt she might as well have a change of look. So she’d gone for short hair for a bit. She did look a completely new person now.
As she was about to leave she heard footsteps behind her. Kenna smiled and turned to see Fens, “You want to come too?” she asked and her dragon concurred. Fenrir loved the fact she they were able to talk in his language now, rather than the half backed one Kenna had made. Fenrir jumped up onto her shoulder, Kenna grumbled slightly as he tuched her burns. It was fine, but the skin was still irritated by it.
She opened the door and walked out and then froze. She’d left some shields out which she would have to fix eventually. Well a few of them was made of steel rather than wood and the owner had pointlessly shined it before giving it to Kenna.
It had cause an unintended consequence that Kenna was glad about. Something that Kenna had wanted to do ever since she heard about this pest was finally going to happen. She was just about to say hi Scrachet, who was checking herself out in the shield.
“Well hello there,”[/b] Kenna said, beaming, “Who do we have here?”

Scratchet was bored. After the events of the war, nearly everyone was just too tired or upset to care about the Nadder's Dastardly Deeds. What was more, she hadn't seen Luna either, unknowing that she was alive and more or less well in Ari's house (though she didn't know who he was, nor the location of his house). The last time she had saw Luna was when she had presented her at the medic camp and was whisked away by lots of humans.
She shook her head and she marched down the street, in plain sight. Normally, she wouldn't have been so reckless - she was testing how much they tolerated her in this post-war morale. The occasional tamed dragon that recognised her would tsk her for being inconsiderate - Scratchet wasn't even causing trouble yet!
Suddenly a whiff from the smoking hut caught her attention. She knew where it was, it wasn't far from her current position. The smells of the seasoning fish made her drool, making her feel hungry, even though she had already eaten her fill earlier that morning. She ambled over towards her new destination, the corners of her mouth curled as it was well clear her intentions.
Suddenly a flash of turquoise reflected in the corner of her eye. She stopped dead in her tracks looking around for that flash of colour. Her eyes narrowed, her tail swishing with confusion. Was someone stalking her? She made another step forwards and a colour of turquoise flashed again. This time, her crest of horns raised, as well as her tail as she saw a foot reflected in a strange circular object.
Diverting her path, she made her way to the bizarre foot-reflecting thing. She bent her head low, and sure enough - her pale yellow jaws slipped into view. Scratchet beamed - it wasn't often she could see herself. With her foot, she tipped the reflective shield to the floor, mirror-side up, and began to admire herself in her reflection. At one point she curled her tail around and began flexing her spines, proud of who she was.
She was admiring her golden-orange eyes when she heard a door open. The Nadder's pupils thinned, crest flaring by the small surprise. When she saw it was just a human, she returned to admiring herself once more - before she was interrupted by the same human. Again.
Scratchet looked up once more, with an irritated expression as if to say 'leave me be, I'm enjoying myself here'. Her eyes narrowed.
"W-Who? Really? You've got to be kidding if you live here, and don't know who I am!" Scratchet shook her head, ruffling her wings a little. How could no one know her? She was a nightmare to all those around her. She was infamous to this village.
Maybe she should teach this human a lesson. She finally noticed the Terror on her reddened shoulder. "At least you know me... right?"

Kenna couldn’t stop herself from laughing, obviously sarcasm is a hard thing to emulate in dragonese, “Of course I know who you are…Scrathlet.” Kenna went into laughter again, “sorry, couldn’t resist. But yeah, if I remember, the last time I saw you before the prep for war was when you had Mr Pickle’s shoe in your mouth.”
Kenna knew that being around Scratchet was not a good idea and she’d probably look like a fool sooner or later. But that didn’t matter to her; it would all be worth it in the end. She’d only meet in the flesh a few times, twice in the prelude to the battle, once in the caves and once near the beginning of her career as bother of this place.
She had however heard every tale about her though. The thiefts, the annoyances, the attempts to ‘train’ her to be less annoying, Kenna loved them all. She wanted to learn all she could about this dragon. She was going to try and do what no one else could. Tame her. But she was going to do the slow approach to it and it looked like now was the time to do stage one. Introduce herself to her.
“I’m Kenna Sigmundr, Blacksmith, nice to be able to say hello to you. So you here purely for narcissistic purposes or are you aiming on your more nefarious works?”[/i]

Scratchet gave Kenna an irritated look as she pronounced her name wrong. How dare she! She was about to retort when she continued, mentioning several places they had met before. Alas, she remembered well that moment, when she was forced to leave the comforts of the cave, and into the awful rain. She had barely noticed Kenna, concentrating on the Gronckle and that very angry Viking.
Scratchet began to wonder why this human was so persistent in speaking to the turquoise Nadder. Usually, the residents of Berk would do their best to stay out of her way, and Warriors trying to fend her off. Looking back at the mirror shield, a pink forked tongue slid out, smacking her jaws at her reflection. Yes. She was pretty.
Her eye's tore themselves away from her pretty clone as Kenna began to speak once more, introducing herself. 'Do I really care what her name is?' She thought. She had no real interest in this human, but if she kept nagging, she would probably have to do something about it. She'd caused enough trouble today.
"So you here purely for narcissistic purposes or are you aiming on your more nefarious works?"
"What?!" Scratchet exclaimed, crest of horns flaring, her bulbous head now suddenly towering over Kenna. Her throat began to growl a little, her eyes narrowing. She had caught her in the act of admiring herself, but she refused to consider herself narcissic. She couldn't help being pretty. She just was.
"We'll see what happens if you keep this up." Scratchet warned. She wasn't best pleased with how intrusive this female was. It wasn't normal. Her mind starting clicking back into action once again, considering options to keep this... Kenna out the way.
She noted the Terrible Terror on her shoulder - no real threat, it didn't appear to belong to any real pack. She noted the tall chimney and the house she was in front of, as well as the rest of her surroundings. Hmm...

“Oh, sorry,” Kenna quickly started apologizing, she’d stepped in it, “I didn’t mean to offend you, I know my pretentious language probably wasn’t the best move, I know why you’d be looking at that reflection of yourself. I mean who wouldn’t if they looked like you do,” Kenna knew that Nadders were vain so she knew she had to defuse the situation by flattery. Why didn’t people try this more often?
“I know I should probably have left you alone, I just love hearing about your antics but I’ve never properly ‘met’ you. I’m sorry about Mr Pickles kicking you out of that cave, he just doesn’t like dragons other than Gronkles...”
A thought just went though her head, “Why are you still here in the village, the only reason you’d be in the village early is to steal fish and they’d have been brought in by now, so...” She stopped as she realised something, it was something she was fine with but she was glad she’d realised this in advance. Scratchet had been looking round the places...at her place...
She’s trying to work out how to get rid of me, Kenna thought, and smiled sheepishly, “I’m making myself your next target by asking all these questions, aren’t I?”
[OOC: Yeah, as far as the ‘why you still hear’ what you say doesn’t matter, but just go with the “they’ve added dragon guards” as the reason for the failed fish attempt.]

Scratchet stared at Kenna incredulously as she started to apologise for her snappy words. The Nadder was just about to snort when the human flattered her. Her eyes focused, now paying more attention as a proud smile inches it's way across her face.
She let the dirty blonde-haired woman continue, drinking in the praise. It had been so long since someone had flattered the turquoise Nadder, not since when she broke her ankle... And she liked her antics?
"So you're a fan? I'm honoured. I've never really had one of those before." 'This'll be interesting', Scratchet thought. 'Maybe I could use her starstruck personality to my advantage?' She ignored the mention of that fateful afternoon where she was booted into the rain. She didn't want her pride knocked off her pedestal just yet.
It seemed that Kenna wanted just that, though. She began to talk about her morning's fishing raid, that hadn't gone particularly to plan. The human seemed to read Scratchet like a book, and she was not liking it. 'The ruse!' She thought. Scratchet was intrigued, not many Vikings showed such intelligence. Despite the fascination, she was still unhappy that Kenna was involuntarily poking at her failures all of a sudden. 'Luring me into a false sense of security... how dare she!'
"Let's say there was some... Complications. Why are you so interested in what I do all of a sudden? I've been lurking in this village for months now." The reason she had failed, of course, was because due to lack of provisions, the Vikings didn't want to lose any of their stock. To remedy this they had two dragons accompanying the fishermen, a Monstruous Nightmare and a Zippleback.
Okay that was it. Scratchet had enough of this pestering Viking person. Humans can't fly, so why not put her on top of the roof. She didn't consider putting her on the even taller chimney, for fear of getting her feet and body covered in soot and smoke.
Kenna was just about to say what Scratchet was thinking, as if she had mind-reading abilities. Scratchet lunged spontaneously, taking to the air metres before Kenna, snatching her by the scruff of the blacksmith's neck with her talons. It was a short trip to the roof, where she deposited her in a heap. Flying back so she was hovering over the road, she cackled.
"At least your little Terror can't help you. Makes it ohh so sweeter." Scratchet made a toothy grin. What was she doing again? Ah, yes. "Right! Off to the Smoking Huts! Tally ho!"
And with that, Scratchet left Kenna clutching onto the roof, oblivious of her fear of heights. Scratchet had been bored, but at least her day had become a little better!

Had Kenna had time to think she might have found the timing of her realisation funny, seeing that she’d realised less than a second than she was. However at the moment of knowing this she was too busy thinking about the fact that she had just been lifted up by a dragon, prone to pranks, especially including ones that involve taking acrophobes for a flight.
Kenna tensed up very quickly as she was taken onto her roof and left there. She clenched onto the roof for dear life. “You arse,”[/b] Fenrir shouted at the dragon, “She wasn’t meaning to cause you offence!”[/b] as the dragon started walking off. Kenna would have told Fenrir off for the language at any other time.
Her eyes were clenched shut as she hung off her roof. She tried to get past her panic in her mind to get some coherent thoghts in. The distance from the bottem of the roof to the ground isn’t too far. If I let go… she clammed up at that thought before continuing, I can slide down to there and then grab the edge of the roof then just drop the feet that’ll be left.
Kenna breathed deeply and tried to get herself to just let go. Eventually, she did. She slid down the side of her roof before she started to feel her feet no longer have roof underneath her. Her reflexes kicked in and she tried to grab the roofing. This didn’t work of course but when the rest of her went off the edge she successfully grabbed the ledge that she slowed her momentum enough that when she lost her grip (and her heart stopped for a second) she landed fine without hurting herself.
After about 10 seconds standing slightly crouched from the landing she opened her eyes and stood up straight. It was another minute before hear beathing and heart beat was calm again. She didn’t blame Scratchet for that, she’d been annoying to her so she had every right to do that. Kenna turned round and started walking in the direction of her uncle Ari’s house like she’d been originally aiming for.
She’d get other chances to talk to that dragon again. She’d make them.
