In the Wake of Morning

Dawn’s golden rays of light began to peak through the dense assortment of pines and oak trees that made up the toothless forest, projecting vivid hues of lavender, orange, and pink upon the white clouds which arbitrarily dispersed and conjoined throughout the sky above. Scattered showers brushed across Berk's rugged terrain in a light drizzle, dripping onto the dampened canopy floor below and creating a surreal atmosphere of rain and sunshine. A cool wind coiled lazy paths through the branches of the pine and oak foliage.

A stray leaf, making its home upon one of the great Oaks, broke off from a high branch and began to twirl its way downward in tune with the breeze. It danced slowly to the grass below until it eventually came to rest upon the nose of a youth, Kyte Hothmund, who was lying on his back in the damp grass. The water droplets residing upon the youth’s faded brown fatigues glistened as a few rays of sunlight escaped from an opening in the green canopy lining the sky overhead.

The boy opened his eyes slightly, blinked a few times, then gave a quick puff and watched the leaf shoot skyward then slowly float back down to his side. Exhaling in a lengthy yawn, he stretched his arms over his head and then came to a seated cross legged position while rubbing sleep from his still half open eyes."Heh heh...jeeze, haven't slept that well since...forever" , Kyte chuckled to himself as he gazed into at the trees above and squinted at the sunlight shining through them.
"huh, must be mid morning already...I was out for a long time..."

...A few moments of silence pursued...

Kyte's eyes suddenly shot open
"AAH CRAP! Ari is going to be Pissed!"

Kyte sprung to his feet, startling a flock of unsuspecting birds above. He then grabbed his satchel full of collected medical ingredients, which was hanging from a low branch nearby, and began a hurried run towards the village.
After spending more than eight years in apprenticeship to master Ari Sigmundr, the village healer of Berk, he had traveled to the forest countless times to collect ingredients and knew the general layout like the back of his hand. He winded his way through the shrubs and tall trees with speed and precision. After about 4 minutes Kyte arrived at a steep creek bed near the edge of toothless forest. Taking a hard left, Kyte followed the creek for a short distance until he came upon a fallen oak tree that lay half suspended over the creek.
Without slowing, Kyte leapt over the uplifted roots and landed on the old trunk, then ran along the free floating portion above the creek. He jumped to over a split in the branches and continued onward until the old oak began to bend and groan under his weight.
Taking one last stride, Kyte hurdled over the remaining thin branches towards the opposite end of the creek. His feet impacted soft dirt and Kyte rolled forward. Using momentum, he rolled back to his feet and continued towards Berk Village.

It didn't take long for him to exit the forest and rush the rest of the way to Ari's Medical Cabin...

[Amora Vigdis]

Rooster inhaled deeply, picking up a plethora of interesting scents on the morning air. He followed them here and there, first terrorizing a rabbit, then a squirrel, and finally a badger, all of which he left alone after rooting up their hiding places and nudging them about a bit with his muzzle. He had already eaten his fill of fish, and he had no desire to munch on anything else. All he wanted to do was poke around Toothless' Forest and see what fun he could find.

Amora, on the other hand, was out on business. Business that she had already concluded. With the assortment of mushrooms Helga had sent her out for safely tucked away in her satchel, she was already tearing her way back towards the village, calling loudly for Rooster to hurry up and come with her. The Nadder obliged, and began winging his way to her after giving a ferret one last experimental prod. He had no idea that when he took off, the enraged ferret had latched onto his talon hoping to give him a spiteful nip.

Both dragon and rider broke out of the forest at roughly the same time, and Rooster, feeling rambunctious dove down and snatched up Amora by the arms. She gave a little whoop of surprise as her feet suddenly left the ground in mid stride, but reverted to her trademark grin as she saw the world falling away from beneath her. That was, until an irate ferret launched itself into her hair. Anyone below would have heard the sudden shouts of alarm as the furry little beast tangled itself utterly in her golden locks in its valiant efforts to do some harm to its unknown aggressor. The monstrous scaly creature that had been so rude as to wake it from a delightful nap, and it would pay for its transgressions!

The next thing Rooster knew, he had received an accidental but still very forceful upward punch directly into his cloaca, and the only response he could give was a strangled "WARK!". His wings faltered and he let Amora and his furry stowaway drop, thankfully from a reasonable height. As she fell, he landed in a rolling flop on a mercifully sturdy roof and lay there gasping like a beached whale.

What had actually taken place was that Amora had been frantically trying to rid herself of a tiny toothsome assailant. Her flailing limbs struck her dragon companion in exactly the wrong spot at exactly the wrong time, and as a result she now found herself dropping a good ten feet or so right onto somebody's roof. She barely caught herself in time, mostly because of the ferret eagerly trying to sink its fangs into her nose, and hit the thatch in a roll. The landing that came after leaving the roof, however, was not so properly executed. What should have been another tight roll ended in a wild spin that put her right into some poor fellow who was unlucky enough to be in the way. And, of course, in the confusion of limbs and bodies, the ferret tried to score a devastating blow against its attackers.

So the first thing to happen to Kyte Hothmund, the poor bystander in question, after they came to a halt, was to have a ferret beyond any measurable level of rancor lunge right at his face.

[Ulrika]

It had hardly been a fortnight since Ulrika had returned from Hysteria and she had already got herself into a heap of trouble. A Wild Dragon encounter whilst hunting had given her a rough time, and though she somehow managed to escape the maws, claws, and firey breathe of the dragon, Ulrika had however hurt herself on the way home, whilst in no danger at all.

Also, though her ribs had been patched up, they were still sore and the odd scuffle with Grima had slightly prolonged the healing process. For her safety's sake, Ari had decided to keep hold of her for the night, despite it being against her wishes.

Ulrika waited until early morning. She was desperate to leave, it had been so long since she had flown on her dragon, but the Night Fury was having none of it, having been in a grumpy distrustful mood ever since her little 'incident'.

Her first attempt to escape was unsuccessful. Ari's dog was blocking the entrance, and the attempt to step over it woke the blasted creature up and caused a commotion.

Pouting in her bed, trying to think up a new way too escape, a thunk sounded overhead. A dragon had landed on Ari's roof! She looked to the doorway, knowing Ari wasn't too keep about Dragons close to his house. She remembered when Ragnar the Putrid's house collapsed when a rather large Gronckle had taken his abode for a perch. She then heard a commotion, and regardless of Ari's dog and the Squealer she went to open the front door to find Ari's assistant, Kyte, stuck under Amora, the other healer's apprentice who lived in the forest somewhere. She didnt know them too well. She also saw the angry ferret.

Ceasing the opportunity, she launched at the ferret and managed to pick it up without getting mauled herself. They were flexing things though, so it was a challenge. She might not be able to hunt today, but an easily obtained hide was always good. She broke the ferret's neck against the doorway, with a sickening crack which didn't faze the Viking-In-Training at all.

She finally realised the position the two were in and wrinkled her nose. "Ewwww! Isn't there somewhere more private to do that?" She said out loud, before going back indoors to call for the healer.

"Hey! Ari! Kyte and the other apprentice are making out on your doorstep, and can I have a knife to skin this ferret?

Ari will join in this thread, but I think I should wait until Kyte and Amora have posted, you can chose when Ari comes out and I'll put in how he responds to it all. He will shout at the dragon to get down xD.
